Ben's Surprise Photo Session

This little man is Ben and his Dad contacted me about having some photos taken as a surprise for his Mom's birthday. Nice job, Dad! Ben is one of the sweetest, quietest kids I've had the pleasure of photographing (I know, I know, I am only with him for a few hours and he was well rested and fed!). Honestly though, now that the cat is out of the bag about these surprise photos, I can't wait to take pictures of the whole family. Mom included!

Fall Into Spring

Spring is nearly upon us and I'm starting to book sessions with some of my favorite clients. How's that for shaking off the winter blues!

E.A.S.T.

Today is the first day of E.A.S.T., the East Austin Studio Tour. I'm exhibiting my work in a space with five other photographers, who happen to also be close personal friends. It's hard to express all the feelings swirling around us today. Seeing large scale prints of our work versus a small LCD screen is humbling. I'm also grateful to be in the presence of, and supported by, these amazingly talented artists.

I would love for you to come see our work. We are at Soma Vida on East 11th this weekend and next (Sat/Sun Nov 10/11 and 17/18). More info can on E.A.S.T. can be found on their website.

Ancient Ink

My friend, Dan, had his beautiful tattoo from Gautamala finished at Ancient Ink on South First St. in Austin. Tattoo shops are like no other place on earth. Color. Art. Grit. Soul. Pain. Love. It's amazing how they navigate those waters each day.

Lomo Dog Walk

Did you know there is a Lomography store in Austin? True story! They are on Congress Avenue, near the Capital (notably in the old Little City location, which holds a very dear place in my heart). And, they have events! My friend invited me to a Lomo Dog Walk and we had a blast. Buster knows he's a star, we were all finally catching up to him.

Amanda + Nick - Married!

Jef and I had opportunity to go to London recently and this is one of my favorite memories. In the midst of such vibrant, bustling city there are these huge, beautiful parks. I was so taken I sat down on one of the benches to take it all in.

I made some creative portraits of the band three33 during SXSW. They are a solid rock band here in Austin - check them out! They needed individual and group photos for promotional materials, CDs, etc. We played around with a few techniques - slow shutter, candids - this is one of my favorites of the day.

Mindy's Bridal Photos

My dear friend, Mindy, was married recently and I had the pleasure of shooting her bridal photos. We spent an afternoon frolicking around South Austin, these are some of my favorites. I wish her all the happiness in the world. If I know anything about her, that will be easy. She brings joy to everything she does. Even an afternoon photoshoot is full of flowers, color and imprompu spinning.

Allie + Rob - Married!

Allie and Rob were married at Cheval Manor in Manor, Texas. Rob is an avid Polo player and arranged for the wedding to take place on the day of a match (or for a match to be played at the wedding, I'm not entirely sure. Either way, there was a Polo match at this wedding!). I've known Allie for several years and was so honored to be part of this day. Every detail was perfect, the white tents, the wildflowers on the table. A perfect mix of elegant and carefree.

Student Headshots for the Armstrong Community Music School

Awhile back I had the pleasure of taking headshots of some wonderfully talented young students at the Armstrong Community Music School. The students were from all around Texas, just in town for a vocal workshop. It was an amazing opportunity for them (and so much fun for me!).

If you are in the vocal industry, keep an eye out for these faces. They are up and coming and will no doubt be taking the industry by storm any day now!

Liliana & Marshall: Married!!

Liliana and Marshall were married on 09.10.11 in a small ceremony with friends and family and then had a fun, swank reception at the beautiful Driskill Hotel. They prepared me ahead of time their family was very welcoming and by the end of the day I'd feel like one of the gang. I'll be honest, it didn't take near that long. I was invited to brunch, welcomed to partake in the homemade paella and pulled on the dance floor nearly every song. This, folks, is why I love what I do.

Congratulations, Liliana and Marshall! I loved being part of your special day. I'm so glad we were able to work together!

Liliana & Marshall: Engaged!

Liliana and Marshall are the sweetest couple. We connected a little last minute, and thankfully I had their date available. In situations like that, sometimes things get a little chaotic or rushed, but not with these guys. They were so calm and laid back, everything just fell right in to place - like it was meant to be. The more I get to know this couple, the more I see that's how they are in everything they do. What a great way to start their life together.

For those of you who attended the wedding last weekend, the photos will be posted within 2-3 weeks. I can't wait for you all to see them!

On an sidenote, this awesome couple found me through a photographer I'd met last year at an event called Help Portrait Austin. Help-Portrait is a community of photographers, coming together across the world, to use their photography skills to give back to their local community. This year's event is on December 10, 2011. Columbia High School 25 Year Reunion

A few weeks back I was chatting with my friend, Kim, about her upcoming High School reunion. All the planning was coming together and she was so excited to see everyone. The only thing left was to find a photographer. And just like that, her 'to do' list was a 'done list'! Well, sort of. I gave her ONE homework assignment - find a few props for the photo booth that would relate to her reunion buddies (yearbook, pom-poms, etc.). Not only did she bring those, she went above and beyond. I want to say it was my charming personality that kept them coming back to the booth all night, but the props were amazing. Thank you, Kim! You get extra credit.

Happy 25 Year Reunion, Columbia High School! You were a blast to hang out with and SO nice. I hope to see you all again at your 30th!

Smith Family: Arianna @ 6 Months

I took photos of Baby Arianna when she was a tiny newborn, so I couldn't believe when it was already time for her time for her 6 month session! It's amazing how much they change in these first few months. She laughs and smiles and has such a sweet, curious personality. And those eyes! She can't talk just yet (but that doesn't stop her from trying), but her eyes speak volumes!

Brooks Family: Harrison @ 2.5 Years Old

Guess who is 2.5 years old and growing like a weed? Harrison is! (He's growing like a very cute weed though. Just look at that face!) I can't believe I have been taking pictures of this handsome little man for 2 years now. I look back at our first session and shake my head. Where did the time go?

This is one of my favorite ages of child to photograph. They talk and talk and are so excited to play and show me things. They are usually very fast and furious sessions. I just try and keep up. :)

Jef and I went to New Orleans a few months ago with some friends and apparently I never pulled the photos off my point and shoot! Not only did I forget I took these, I forgot about some of these moments. That was a fun trip (and fun to find these pictures again). Now I want to go back!
