]]>Which brings me to Sliimy (wonder if he has the same parents as Miike Snow?), a Parisian pop artist that I recently discovered from several blogs recently. Apparently this guy has been around for sometime, some even go as far to call him the European Purple One (for those of you that are younger, I’m talking about Prince.)

Super catchy and fantastic production this track I think really highlights the girls vocals and song writing ability. There is now a video for the song and I love it.
A Night In The Box – The Rich Man’s Table
Call it what you want (though I think most people will call it Fuzz Rock, I call it awe-some), this band fuses bluegrass and southern, folk rock into a fantastic long player that is full of sliding riffs, clapping and stomping. Enough to make you tap your foot along with them.
Hell they actually do it twice. First with the debut album “The Hustle, The Prayer, The Thief” and then with their sophomore album called “Write A Letter” featuring the track above. Here is a little bit more about the band from there label site, Afternoon Records:
]]>Take a banjo, a fiddle, the guitar, drums and some damn fine hats, and you’ve got the Minneapolis-based A Night in the Box. The image is easily described, but it is slightly more difficult to characterize their sound.
Started in 2006 by three high school friends, Alex Dalton (drums, vocals), Clayton Hagen (lead vocals, guitar) and Travis Hetman (banjo, vocals, guitar, harmonica), A Night in the Box released their debut album “The Hustle, The Prayer, The Thief” in 2006 on Afternoon Records.
Their Americana-infused soul and bluegrass with the intensity of hardcore punk aesthetic has since won over fans and critics worldwide.
Their sophomore effort “Write a Letter” is rounded out with fourth member Kailyn Spencer (violin), adding her own diverse musical background to the already complex melting pot of creative influences that Box fans love. Adding a mixture of accessible pop hooks with their quintessential gritty sound will reach out to tried and true fans and new fans alike.
Pretty remix heavy on this mix too, only because for some reason that’s all I really wanted to listen to this week. Not at all that random but the number of quality remixes I came across this week was remarkable. Also, I tried to fight it off as long as I could but I’ve become a fan of The xx.. yeah, so we’ll let that pass.
New Frightened Rabbit and Ellie Goulding makes me very, VERY happy. Can’t wait for both of those albums to drop sometime soon. Signal Path calls themselves an Electronica Jam Band or Jam-tronica), either way I kind of dig them.
TOKiMONSTA is going to be huge soon, keep an eye out for her stuff. Started to get back in to drum & bass these past few days so definitely check out Logistics and I’ll most likely be posting more next week. Of course there are some dubstep remixes because they are fucking awesome.
Hey at least there is no Lil Wayne this week.
And really that would be enough for me to pass on it. Except for this time. I don’t know why but I decided to listen to it and it hasn’t stopped being on repeat since then. Seriously, this is a banger.

]]>Then well, the rest of this mix is really some random selections of indie rock and such. Of note is the cover of Michael Jackson’s Human Nature by Toro Y Moi which is fantasic! Then there is the only track from Volcano Choir that is worth listening too, “Island, Is”. Seriously, I was so disappointed in that album that I felt like burning it to CD just so I could throw it on the ground.
There are some old favorites on here that some people may not have heard yet including the new Thao, Boat, Rain Machine and Noah & The Whale.
]]>Couple comments about this weeks selection first. The Drake track is one of the strongest I’ve heard from this up & coming mc but the bars laid down by Em and Kanye are the stand out parts of the track. They kill it.
Felt (Murs & Slug) not only announced the new album but that it was being produced by Aesop Rock!?! That album could be massive! Tribute To Rosie Perez coming in November.
I’m absolutely obsessed with the Example track, I play it atleast once a day. It just gives me the feeling up waking up in the morning on a sunny day and the first thing you see is that someone special next to you.. call me a mushy but I don’t care.

]]>I’ve also found my fucking track of the summer (which will change but at this point, this is it) in LMFAO w/ Lil Jon.. I know whenever I’m ordering shots I’ll be singing this song. Being that this is a club mix, you’ll see quite a few remixes and of course I can’t let it slide without some dubstep bitches! Be sure to check out an actual remix of Aphex Twin – Windowlicker. I’m still extremely shocked that someone did that and it actually sounds really, REALLY good.
I also included some pop/hip-hop club tracks with Little Boots, Jadakiss, Cunninlynquits, etc. etc. I’m also totally ghey for the Miike Snow album at the moment. There is not a bad track on that whole album.

Seriously, though The Clipse definitely deserve the lead off on this mix simply because it’s got some really hot bars. Be sure not to sleep on the Wale track neither, this local is hot, hot, HOT. Also of not is Ellie Goulding track which this time around is just a cover but wait until my next post with her own track and a dupstep remix (of course) of the same track, both are straight heat.
This is definitely not devoid of some glitchy goodness either, between FlyLo, Mike Slott and Iso Brown you should be covered.
