How is it possible that March is just days away? So much has been accomplished over the past few weeks that I have neglected to sit down and capture those events.

When not actually "working" for someone else, I have been spending most of my time thinking, reading, and talking about how communities can use social media to connect. I know it's the "in" thing to do ... but I honestly don't see this as a "fad" only to disappear like the pet rock, but as a way to change how we communicate. I see social media as way to re-establish a sense of community and family that has often been broken as we get caught up in our busy, crazy lives.

Here is one example. Over the past couple of weeks I have connected with distant family members using Facebook. Some of these individuals I have never met, but we know how we are "connected". Others I haven't seen or spoken to in 25-30 years! We have reconnected, shared stories, shared pictures and reminded each other of the importance of family.

How has social media allowed you to re-connect to community?

<xhtml:img xmlns:xhtml="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/jkhewett/~4/xsViMUQgeWw" height="1" width="1" />
