For Windows users who familiar with switching between language with grave accent ( ` ), using Mac input source switching with Command + Spacebar might be difficult. After a long time of confusing, I finally see the light. I just need the same setting for all devices.

All you need is this piece of software Keyremap4macbook [http://pqrs.org/macosx/keyremap4macbook/]. After download and install (in System Preferences), you need to map ( ` ) to Command+Space .

That’s all, now I can use ( ` ) to switch language in both Mac and Windows.

My friends just got AT&T iPhones from the US. They couldn’t unlock them via software because their baseband doesn’t supported. The good new is Gevey Sim can unlock unsupported baseband. My friend went with this solution. It works great but there is a problem of contact doesn’t recognize. iPhone doesn’t show the caller name, just display the caller number. Here is how I fix their iPhone.

1. Go to ” Settings/General/International/Region Format/ ” and select your region

2. Downlosds files ” com.apple.AppSupport.plist ” from here

3. Put this file at ” /private/var/mobile/Library/Preferences/”

4. Restart iPhone

After setting up XMBC on ATV2, I felt like I really use full potential of ATV2. The good thing (for me) in this version of XMBC is I can set up Thai Character in Region setting. However I can’t read Thai because XMBC does not include Thai font in its package. Here how to add Thai font:

Log on to ATV2

I use Cyberduck to access into ATV2

It’s already found my ATV2 via Bonjour network

username is “root” and password is “alpine”

Go to XMBC > Media > font then copy Thai font to this directory

Done, now I can see beautiful Thai font for file list name ^__^

I have tried to jailbreak my AppleTV 2g with both GreenPois0n RC6 and PwnageTool 4.2.1 for several times, none of them working well. Fortunately one day I incidentally made it work. Here how I did:

I follow the instruction from http://www.redmondpie.com/how-to-jailbreak-apple-tv-2g-on-ios-4.2.1-untethered-with-greenpois0n-rc6-guide/

The problem is I can’t go to DFU mode with the instruction given. It always fails at the end.

To FIX this problem, I just enter the DFU mode before running GreenPois0n

First I plug in both USB cable and Power cable in to AppleTV then press Menu + Down until the white flash blinking rapidly.

Next release both button, the white light will stop blinking.

Now immediately hold Menu+Play until the light

Once in DFU mode (iTunes will show up), run GreenPoisi0n. It will start jailbreaking suddenly.

Wait for 5 minutes, click complete and it’s done.

PS. my AppleTV was stuck in recovery mode after the jailbreak process. I have to use RecBoot to kick it out of recovery mode.

The task is connecting MacPro with 3 monitors, so I ordered Samsung monitors which come with Display, DVI and VGA port on each monitor.

MacPro 2010 comes with two mini-Display ports and one Dual-link DVI. The first trial is to convert mini-Display port to DVI using this mini-Display port to DVI adapter.

However, because of insufficient power, only 2 displays are working (the ones from mini-Display ports)

So I have to order mini-Display port to Display port cable from CircuitAssembly to make these three screens work. Now everything is perfect, I can drive 3 monitors simultaneously.

I have to comment out “gs.apple.com” in etc/host

first go to Finder > Go > Go to folder and type “/private/etc/”

Drag “host” file on your desktop and open it with TextEditor

find the line with “gs.apple.com” then put “##” infront of that line.

Save this file and replace this file back to its original place.

Now I can restore my iPhone to 4.2 version.

I just upgraded my colleague iPhone 3GS from 4.0.2 to 4.0.1 because he need to jailbreak it with jailbreakme.com. The overall process is totally different from when I used to downgrade iPhone firmware a couple years ago. As a result, I think it’s a good thing to share this experience with the world today.
Requirements:

iTunes (any version I guess, mine is iTunes 10)

Notepad (I’m using Notepad on Windows 7)

firmware 4.0.2

firmware 4.0.1

Winrar

1. First thing we need to add

74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com

to the end of this file C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts (Windows) or /etc/hosts (Mac OS X)

PS. you might need to run notepad with administrator privilege for Windows7

After this process, your iPhone firmware checking with Apple is optimized within local machine.

2. Extract firmware 4.0.1 with Winrar

3. Replace 8A306 with 8A400 in buildmanifest.plist and restore.plist

4. Open 4.0.2 firmware with Winrar (do not extract)

5. Copy all files in 4.0.1 firmware folder to 4.0.2 firmware in Winrar

6. delete all 001 dmg files.

7. Save this file to be used to restore .

8. Put the iPhone in DFU mode and restore with this new firmware.

9. wala, now you can jailbreak this firmware with jailbreakme.com

^__^

Yes, It’s been a while since I haven’t updated my blog. Today I just found this interesting tip that I’d like to share to the world.

I did utilized the Google Apps for my work for quite a while and honestly I don’t like the fact that Google mail do not support HTML signature. I think good looking email signature represents the creativity and imagination of person.

I have been using the “Canned responses”, a Gmail Lab plugin to insert the HTML signature for a while. However, it’s not the best way to do it because I have to manually input the signature every time I want the signature to appear.

Here come the rescue, this WiseStamp Google Chrome Extension is an awesome extension that make my life much easier.

All you need is just installing the Chrome, installing this Extension and customize the signature. Then we can set the signature to insert automatically every time we want. Walla, enjoy your HTML signature in Google Mail ^__^
