We had all sorts of technical problems with this one, the original recording corrupted and both backups had strange problems but hopefully I've worked it out and it's finally here for your poor ears. Obviously since its from the backup, the sound quality isn't as good. My apologies.

Late Nights On Jimmerish FM - Ep. 2 - King's Park

Finally the 2nd episode of Late Nights on Jimmerish FM. This was recorded on the 18th of December for some context. The experiments keep coming, this episode I wire co-host Miranda and myself up with wireless microphones, recording from my iPhone in my jacket pocket. We then proceed to go on an adventure through Kings Park in the dark, bumping into various scary things, with the aim of climbing to the the top of the DNA tower to finish the episode with a view above the city. It took a long time to edit out all the bumps and thumps, its still pretty rough. However, I've already begun experimenting for the next episode and I think it will be a lot easier to produce. So look out for it!

Theatre and the Colour Passion - Ep. 2 - 2009 and the Future

In this episode we wrap up the year that was 2009 in Perth Theatre and look forward to 2010. Mischa Ipp continues on as co-host and James interviews musical theatre performer Iskandar Sharazuddin. We also finish off the podcast with a Q&A session from 'Forget Me Not & Refractions' recorded on a cell phone, gorilla styles! Enjoy!

Iskandar is currently involved in the production of 'You're a Good Man Charlie Brown' with Mesh which is running from Jan 20th-23rd. Tickets available from Bocs.

This is the podcast for Theatre and the Colour Passion a Facebook group/club that wants to expand the reach of theatre, Everywhere. It's like a Book Club except we go to Theatre once a month and discuss it afterwards with a Q&A and a podcast with some of the members.

We're starting here in Perth, Austalia, joining together once a month to see a designated theatre performance, with a Q&A and group discussion afterwards. Members are encouraged to bring along a 'theatre newby' - someone who doesn't often go to theatre or a 'theatre virgin' - someone who's never been to the theatre.

This is a first in just another experimental series of podcasts from Jimmerish FM. Alternative commentaries from an eclectic range of films delivered to you as a podcast. A perfect excuse to watch that dvd in your cupboard again while listening along to our inane discussions on your iPod or iPhone to keep you company. The Next Phase: Setting A Schedule

So the summer of Jimmerish FM is almost here and I need to set a schedule. Unfortunately, despite trying to give my other work a perfectly reasonable allocation of my time, they will do their best to disrupt whatever schedule I set. Not that anyone who is reading this actually cares but the current draft schedule is:

Sunday 1pm

Betty and the Beast

Wednesday 8pm

The Untitled weekly review show - (With drinks).

Saturday 1pm

Arts Show

(Alternating between Elusive Isolation and Theatre and the Colour Passion).

In Australia Sunday and Monday are generally the most boring days on the internet, so I'm hoping that recording shows on Saturday and Sunday and releasing them the day after will help fill the void for others.

I also really want to do a show that alternates between Movie/Scripted TV/Video Game discussions and reviews and 'Commentaries' of movies. Where I'll fit that in, I'm not sure yet, I'll keep you posted.

It's not often that I come across a blog that catches my eye enough to make me want to sit down and read the whole thing. It is especially rare to find someone from Perth with such a blog, writing passionately about a topic that is centred on the opposite side of the world. Theatre and the Colour Passion - Ep. 1

This is the first podcast for the Theatre and the Colour Passion a facebook group/club that wants to expand the reach of theatre everywhere, especially in Perth. It's like a book club except we go to theatre once a month and discuss it afterwards with a Q&A and a podcast with some of the members.

This podcast series, as with all things at Jimmerish FM is a bit of an experiment. We'll be having discussions of the most recent show that we have been to see, talk about what is happening in Perth theatre in general and include a recording of the Q&A from the show we saw.

Have you always wanted to see more Perth theatre but didn't always have a group to go with? Join the facebook group now and come along, its a good night out. The next show the group is going to see is Equus on the 22nd September so join the group and get your discount tickets!

Writing Round Table

We are very lucky to have two talented guests tonight. Briony Stewart and Amy join us in our first three chair podcast. We set out to discuss just awesome TV but finding that all three of us are writers in different fields, we end up going on a free flowing conversation about being an artist and whatever follows.

This is our first three chair podcast, hopefully it has turned out well for you guys and sounds ok. Please let Amy and Briony know that you appreciated them coming on!

Help Video - How To Get The Jimmerish FM Podcasts

Still haven't worked out how to listen to Jimmerish FM?

Never fear! James is here! I'm starting a series of raw and unrehearsed youtube tutorial videos that will hold your hand and show you how to listen to Jimmerish FM content as well as other cool aspects of the website.

First off, we have a video about how to actually get the Jimmerish FM podcasts so that you can listen to them. It will show you how to subscribe so that you can get future episodes downloaded automatically to your computer. (We use Safari in this tutorial, if you use Firefox and you get stuck on the simple extra step required, see this video.) So watch the youtube video below! There are no excuses now, its all free and simple.

Those of you on ADSl 2+ or faster, click the "HD" button on the youtube player to watch in High Definition. Then click the full screen button (Immediately to the right of the HD button). It's almost like having my computer on your computer!

Notes:

We have an extra video for Firefox users who freak out about the dialogue box that pops up when you click the Subscribe (via iTunes) link.
If you use IE to surf the web, and the process in this tutorial doesn't work for you, well, not even Aslan can help you. (Kidding, see below for manual process)
If you use Chrome (at least in the Mac version) or anything else that this tutorial fails to deal with, you are going to have to subscribe manually by copying and pasting the RSS feed address into iTunes manually. The address to copy is:

http://homepage.mac.com/thomasjames/jimmerishfm/feeds/jimmerishfm.xml

Then, in iTunes go to the Advanced Menu --> Subscribe to Podcast...
Then paste the RSS feed url into the box that pops up.
Click Ok
Done.

Perhaps I'll make a video of how to do it manually later but I want to reward the more awesome people with Safari and Firefox.

Bree: Ambulance Officer

This is another of our interviews for our "Test" series of podcasts to get this wagon on the move. Today we have a timely, yet fairly casual talk to Bree, a West Australian ambulance officer about what life is like for an Ambo.

I say timely because a recent Four Corners episode has caused a stir in Western Australia. A number of paramedics have "blown the whistle" on some serious issues facing the way ambulance services are handled in WA. The impact of the episode has motivated Health Minister Kim Hames to organise a review into the cases depicted on the show.

However, around Jimmerish FM, It's a pretty casual affair that devolves into a ramble about local vs general anesthetic and Transformers at various stages. I try getting my hard hitting journalism skills out but I don't have much success.

Yeah! So easy to do, i did it all on a break at work. It's amazing how good it sounds considering that I was in a very noisy cafe on a street and it was recorded on the built in iPhone mic!

Check it out! (Read up here if you have no idea what I'm talking about). You would have got it instantly if you were following this project's twitter!

I'm watching WWDC to see when iPhone OS 3.0 arrives officially. Once that comes iPhone users can be notified instantly when mobile podcasts come online (In theory with universal push notification support). Wow, exciting times in technology.

Most recent update:

You can login to MobileMe on any browser and see where your phone is on a Google Map.
Lets you send your phone a message -- a special alert sound will play, regardless if your phone is on silent or not. (When you lose it down your couch and you can't call it because you had it on silent!)
If your phone really is lost or stolen, you can send it a remote wipe command that will delete all of your data (mail, contacts, etc). If you do find the phone, it will be restored from a backup.

Holy crap! The future is here!

How can you support this project?

Jimmerish FM content will always be free to access in many different ways and places. However, it will cost a fair bit of money to start up and will have ongoing costs to keep it at a "professional" broadcasting level.

Kevin Rudd has already made a rather sizable donation but as an experiment we are adding a Paypal donate button to this web page. You can find it somewhere on the sidebar to the right under "Support the Project". You can donate any amount that you would like at any time, as many times as you want. It could be as low as $2 or the ultra cool kids might want to go $10 or higher. Think of it as a virtual "tip".

Where will that money go you ask?

Here at Jimmerish FM we will be endeavoring to place as many of the most recent episodes of the podcasts on a CDN as possible. That means much faster downloads for you! Perhaps not all of you will notice and/or appreciate it but trust me, it will save you a lot of time when you go to sync your iPhone/iPod and it will make you feel totally pumped about your broadband internet connection.

For some idea of the costs: At the start of this project when nobody has ever heard of it, CDN services will only cost as little as $20 a month, however, in the unlikely chance that we hit the iTunes store and rocket up the charts, that cost will sky rocket.

We will probably get a thing going where if you donate more than $10 we'll give you or your company a shout out on the air if you want. At the end of the day though, the only thing extra those who donate will probably receive is a nice little warm fuzzy feeling inside but for some of you that could mean everything!
