Beware the Rabbinic Trappings of the 7 Noahide Laws

The basis for the seven Noahide Laws is entirely founded on Jewish Oral Law and Tradition. The content of the seven laws is partially good, but the burden of commitment to Rabbinic Oral Torah is a complex web of deception, riddled with anti-Torah innovations. Ultimately, the Orthodox rabbis are taking upon themselves the authority to say what portion of the Light of Torah gentiles are responsible or permitted to walk in.

The Seven Noahide Laws
Prohibition of Idolatry
Prohibition of Murder
Prohibition of Theft
Prohibition of Sexual Promiscuity, including adultery, incest, bestiality and male homosexual intercourse.
Prohibition of Blasphemy: You shall not blaspheme God's name which includes speaking It (a strict ban of Rabbinic Oral Law).
Dietary Law: Do not eat flesh taken from an animal while it is still alive.
Requirement to have just Laws: Set up courts of Law.
According to the Jewish Tosefta Avodah Zarah 8.4, quoted in Talmud Sanhedrin 56a.

The most alarming rabbinic prohibition that many of these Noahides unwittingly submit themselves is the ban on any pronunciation on the Divine Name (even though יהוה commands us to use His Name). Although some willingly and knowingly submit to the ban, few really understand the ramifications of breaking it according to the Rabbis:

"It is forbidden to read the glorious and terrible name as it is written, as the sages said "He that pronounces the name as it is written has no portion in the world to come". Therefore it must be read as if it were written Adonai." (Mishnah Berurah 5:2) See also: Babylonian Talmud: Sanhedrin 90a/10:1

In order to understand what the 7 Laws really mean and is applied in most situations, one is forced to consult the Torah, but primiarily, one takes a vow to consult the Rabbinic commentary and enactments supposedly derived from the Torah (some of which has and some of which has NOT, but instead... are innovations of men which actually transgress the Written Torah).

It is somewhat shocking to observe how people fill so compelled to put themselves under a false religious system of authority, instead of simply going to the Holy Scriptures themselves and living life according to the Ruakh/Spirit of יהוה. I strongly caution anyone desiring to do this, that is... to become a Noahide.

Truly seek and consult יהוה and His Word to see if such is really necessary at this stage. Do you really need a group of men to decide you are righteous?

In the future, we know Eliyahu/Elijah (according to Malachi and Yeshua) will come and restore all things before the Great and Terrible Day, and hence he will likely restore a system of authority similar to ancient Israel, but until that time... I suggest patience, study, and watchfulness. Don't make vows that really only bestow more authority upon an unworthy religious system.

I am not anti-authority. I'm against authority that believes it has usurped the Authority of Heaven. A time of righteous judgment and righteous authority is coming, but it is not yet found in Rabbinic Judaism as a whole. Maybe the Rabbinic system will be changed from within and become a truly Torah-based system, but this will likely only come about after much trauma.

No evidence of the Jews roaming in the desert?

The Darwinian/Marxist Establishment in America (and around the world) claim there is no evidence of Jewish or Hebrew roamings in the desert wilderness after the so-called Exodus "myth". Compounding the problem, Arabs have blocked and locked down access to locations which contain the most convincing evidence.

Jim and Penny Caldwell of Split Rock Research Foundation (who lived in Saudi Arabia for more than a decade while working within the Oil industry) have much footage of a Hebrew wandering in the northwest region of the Saudi Kingdom (which is commonly known as ancient Midian). They have compelling and striking evidence for the true Mt Sinai (in the Jebel al Lawz Mountains) and of course a Hebrew presence in the general area. The Saudi government has the area very isolated and quarantined off... which is why they and others have had to risk their lives to smuggle their amateur footage out of the country.

Are We under a "New Covenant" Yet?

Arguments about whether or not we're under the "Old Covenant" or "New Covenant" are rather moot when we realize the new covenant has not yet been established. Christians largely interpret the page just before the Book of Matthew, titled "New Testament", to mean everything that follows is representative of the "New Covenant", in which we now live. There are many reasons or proofs that this is not the case. Lets first consider Jerefmiah 31 where the concept of a new covenant largely originates.

Jeremiah 31:31-40 (TS98)
(31) “See, the days are coming,” declares יהוה, “when I shall make a new covenant with the house of Yisra’el and with the house of Yehudah,
(32) not like the covenant I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Mitsrayim, My covenant which they broke, though I was a husband to them,” declares יהוה.
(33) “For this is the covenant I shall make with the house of Yisra’el after those days, declares יהוה: I shall put My Torah in their inward parts, and write it on their hearts. And I shall be their Elohim, and they shall be My people.
(34) “And no longer shall they teach, each one his neighbour, and each one his brother, saying, ‘Know יהוה,’ for they shall all know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them,” declares יהוה. “For I shall forgive their crookedness, and remember their sin no more.”
(35) Thus said יהוה, who gives the sun for a light by day, and the laws of the moon and the stars for a light by night, who stirs up the sea, and its waves roar – יהוה of hosts is His Name:
(36) “If these laws vanish from before Me,” declares יהוה, “then the seed of Yisra’el shall also cease from being a nation before Me forever.”
(37) Thus said יהוה, “If the heavens above could be measured, and the foundations of the earth searched out beneath, I would also cast off all the seed of Yisra’el for all that they have done,” declares יהוה.
(38) “See, the days are coming,” declares יהוה, “that the city shall be built for יהוה from the Tower of Hanan’el to the Corner Gate.
(39) “And the measuring line shall again extend straight ahead to the hill Gareb, then it shall turn toward Go'ah.
(40) “And all the valley of the dead bodies and of the ashes, and all the fields as far as the wadi Qidron, to the corner of the Horse Gate toward the east, is to be set-apart to יהוה. It shall not be plucked up or thrown down any more forever.”

Things which have NOT happened yet:

Verses 31 & 32 indicate the covenant is being made with Israel and Judah, not non-Israelite peoples. The preceding verses and the preceding chapter indicate Israel and Judah will both be regathered to the Land of Israel. Currently, only a remnant of Judah has been regathered. 10-Israel or Ephraim is still largely living in a state preceding the reprentance and restoration prophecied in Verse 17-20.
Verse 33 indicates we will no longer be taught Torah by man, but instead by the Ruakh of our Husband, יהוה. The Torah, the marriage covenant, will be put in the inward parts of both Israel and Judah, thus they will have an inward compulsion to do and understanding how to do Torah. One may argue some individuals already do this, but anyone thinking the entire assembly of Israel and Judah are both living out Torah in such a manner are diluting themselves.
Verse 34 also indicates that there will be no evengalists preaching AFTER the new covenant is given. Do we have evengalists in the world?

The Confirming Witness of Revelation 19

Revelation 19:7-9
(7) “Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him praise, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife prepared herself.”
(8) And to her it was given to be dressed in fine linen, clean and bright, for the fine linen is the righteousnesses of the set-apart ones.
(9) And he said to me, “Write, ‘Blessed are those who have been called to the marriage supper of the Lamb!’ ” And he said to me, “These are the true words of Elohim.”

It should be more than apparent that the New Covenant is not actually established and active YET. Not only is Israel and Judah still largely scattered around the world, but Judah's modern nation is little more than an occasional rebellious semi-automous province of Daughter Babylon (i.e., USA). When Messiah restores all his people to the Land (ALL twelve tribes) where Torah is the national constitution embraced and known from the inward parts of all citizens, then we will know the New Covenant has been established.

So what should we be doing in the mean time?

A betrothed woman has many efforts set before her... namely, keeping herself clean from other "proverbial" men (e.g., the ways of other pagan religious systems). The betrothed should also realize that Jeremiah 31:32 does not indicate she will be given a different covenant, but the giving of or the receipt of it will be different (e.g., it will be written on her heart, not regiven on stone tablets). This means it behooves her to familiarize herself with the original Torah that was given to her ancestors. In my view, we should be observing all the Torah now that is possible to be observed... for Yeshua indicates all those doing and teaching others to do that which is in the Torah will be called the greatest in His future Kingdom (Matthew 5:19).

Even though it is very apparent that we should be observing Torah, we must all store up alot of grace and patience for others who may live out Torah in ways that we may think are in error. There is much room for interpretation and debate. This doesn't mean discussions and midrash should be avoided because of the inevitable disagreement. We should simply be loving and not argumentative when the disagreements come... understanding ultimately we will all come to an agreement once we arrive at the Marriage of the Lamb.

Is the "Two House Teaching" just a Distraction?

Many teachers and ministers believe the "Two House Teaching" is simply a distraction from more important matters which deserve their/our attention. Even teachers who semi-accept the reality of Israel and Jew-dah as separate entities... rarely teach on the subject or integrate it into their interpretations of Scripture prophecy. Others simply relegate the topic to something less than core theology or too divisive to speak about (or rather, potentially too detrimental to ministry income).

What these teachers fail to realize is that our entire exegetical paradigm is thrown into confusion and error without understanding WHO Israel is and WHO Jew-dah is. Viewing the Two House reality as simply a distraction is silly, bizarre, and even dangerous (explained in a moment). Why would both Houses be so frequently referenced in historical passages and prophetic passages if Father יהוה did not want the reality read, discussed, and understood by those who call themselves by His Name and long for His appearing and His gathering of ALL Israel? What spirit is really driving the censorship?

Of course, there are other important matters to focus our attention, such as taking care of the widow and orphan and defending the unborn, etc. Even so, censoring or diminishing the importance of other key realities is a bit remiss and dangerously so in this case. For example, "Jacob's Trouble" is another reality in Scripture prophecy... which will in effect be the most detrimental to the ENTIRE House of Jacob, both 10-Israel and Jew-dah. Yet, if Prodigal 10-Israel is unaware of WHO he is... and if he simply thinks he is going to be "raptured" out before the Trouble comes, then he is in a very disastrous and delusional state of mind.

If the shepherds truly care for the well-being of the sheep, they will inform the sheep on all aspects of the Truth.

The primary emphasis of the Goodnews message of Messiah Yeshau (Jesus) is based upon the restoration of Ephraim/10-Israel, who has become "the fullness of the nations". The message is incomplete when framed as "anyone from the nations can be saved" without at least alluding to who was scattered and sown into ALL nations and who is being saved out of those nations. Yeshua even said He was sending his Jewish disciples to "the lost sheep of the House of Israel." The Two House Teaching completes one's understanding of the message. It does NOT distract from the message.

What is so GOOD about the Goodnews of Yeshua's sacrifice and resurrection? It means 10-Israel, the adulterous and divorced bride of יהוה (the one without any hope because of Deuternomy 24:4), can now come home and be re-married to her Husband in a new marriage covenant because of the death of Yeshua (this is dealing with corporate redemption, not that of an individual exclusively). Yet, the news is also good for those nations where 10-Israel has been scattered to and mixed with... for indiviiduals from those nations can be joined to the bride, the united Assembly of Israel, when the new marriage occurs in the future (Jeremiah 31:31). This is one of the great myserties of the Goodnews. And this is a primary, if not THE primary reason why the Two House teaching is important to both Jews, Christians, and anyone interested in following the Elohim of Abraham, Isaak, and Jacob.

The subject of Goyim, Nations, Peoples, "Gentile Christians", and the "Melo Ha'Goyim" (Genesis 48:19) is a difficult one for many teachers to approach and teach, but Biblical difficulty and difficult historical associations should not be cause for censorship. Difficult matters are what make studying the Scriptures and history a fun and rewarding endeavor. We often learn more and remember more longer when there is struggle involved. Thus shepherds should not use difficulty as a pretext for censorship or general lack of attention to the WHAT, WHEN, WHERE, and WHO Israel and Jew-dah are.

Maintain eating habits that promote a strong immune system and avoid any consumption and/or activities that may weaken your immune system, such as smoking, staying up all night, drinking a 6-pack of soda routinely, consuming artificial sweeteners and junk food in general.

Response to "Encounters with an Ephraimite" by Boaz Michael (FFOZ)

The following is a short response to Boaz Michael's article "Encounters with an Ephraimite: Identity through a Lost Heritage" (download pdf).

Boaz is the founder and president of First Fruits for Zion. He is a gifted teacher who has done a great deal to turn so-called "Gentile Christians" into the path of Torah, the same path Yeshua led His original disciples. For this reason, I respect Boaz and his ministry tremendously.

Even so, his refusal to acknowledge the Two House reality is a point of difficult contention for many in the Hebraic Roots movement.

Ultimately, he does not deny the Lost Ten Tribes still exist, but simply contends they will remain lost until the Messianic era. I appreciate the fact that he at least allows for this possibility, which is a slightly dissimilar position compared to some of his colleagues (e.g., Tim Hegg), where "the Jews" are strongly perceived to be representative of all 12 tribes because the 10 presumably rejoined Judah after the Babylonian Captivity (something the Jews and history broadly denies). Boaz explains:

"The Two-House message contains a prophetic truth that is yet to occur. There are ten lost tribes, whether they are lost by assimilation into the nations or into Judea–they are lost. We do not know who they are; we do not know where they are or what they are, but we do know that at some point in the future they will be identified and re-established. All the tribes will be brought home, and in the Messianic era, tribal differentiation reemerges. However, we do not suppose to know the means or mechanism by which this will be accomplished and are not willing to suggest one theory over another. It is a matter of eschatology, and in that regard, it is similar to the arguments over pre-tribulation, mid-tribulation and post-tribulation advent. Everyone has a theory, but no one will really know for certain until Messiah comes." pg.13

If one uses the Prodigal Son parable as a macro-timeline for the Lost Ten Tribes regathering and restoration, it will be made apparent that they awaken to themselves before the Father brings them home to be restored to their older brother "Jew-dah". This means they are identifiable or at least known to themselves even before they return to the Land and BEFORE the Messianic Era. "Adherents of the movement are quick to explain that one’s identity is ultimately unknowable. No one can prove that they are actually descended from Israel, but neither can it be proven that they are not." pg.6

In fact, Judah has a very similar problem in the realm of what is truly knowable and provable, especially in light of modern-day genetics, where both Jewish men and women are represented by many genetic Haplogroups. In reality, this is not that great of a problem. Historically, the assembly of Israel has allowed for and even sought after converts from the nations. We should then expect to see various haplogroup representations. The ongoing question is: which haplogroups literally represent Jacob's Y-Chromosome?

Boaz acknowledges the reality that Jews can largely not be proven to be Jews also, but tries to make a distinction.

"These two un-provables should not be equivocated though. The Jewish people, whether through rabbinic conversion or assumed genealogical decent, have an unbroken chain of continuity with Jewish ancestry, and ancestry which has been transmitted by community identity. The Two-House Israelite does not. The fact that a Jewish person cannot produce a genealogy reaching back to Jacob does not validate a non-Jew’s supposition that he is descended from Israel." pg.13

The prophet Hosea actually indicated that Ephraim would become "not a people" and then later become "a people" again. Hosea never alludes to the possibility that Jew-dah would ever succumb to a similar fate. In fact, Jew-dah has miraculously maintained her social identity as "Jewish" in spite of much assimilation pressure while in exile. So I agree the Jews have less of a "burden" of proof than does Ephraim, but the substance of the provability problem is still largely a very similar issue. And there are many anti-semitic groups out there that actually argue that the Jews are not true Jews precisely because of the genetic disparity that has been found within those Jews who have been genetically tested.

Note: in my view, many of the people who were not Jewish but converted to Judaism over the last 2,000 years were actually Ephraimites or related to the Lost Ten Tribes in some way (excluding Edomites, Hittites, etc). The Khazars are one notable national conversion example which just happened to be in the general Median region where the Lost Ten Tribes were originally deported to, hence the Ashkenazi Jewish population likely has more of an Ephraimite mixture than does the Sephardi.

In the following quote, Boaz questions a common identity claim made by Ephraimites.

"Since the prophets predict that Israel’s return to Torah is part of the Messianic Restoration, they pointed to their call to Torah as evidence that they must be a part of Israel. They must be a part of the prophetic restoration of Israel. Yet for most of these people, their own mother and father, siblings, uncles and aunts and children had no parallel experience whatsoever. They shared no sense of that inner-identity, had no inclination to start keeping Torah whatsoever. Would it not stand to reason that if one’s family was actually Israelite stock that this prophetic restoration would spread across those families?" pg.13-14

Within individual families, this is true. But within national families or ethnic groupings (i.e., Caucasians, Americans, Indians, Koreans, Japanese, etc), there is an intriguing and apparent sub-conscious awakening that DOES confirm these types of identity claims. I personally have not used such a claim to support my own perceptions of Ephraim, but those who have mysteriously developed an affinity toward the Jewish people and the Torah without knowing the evidence, for them I can not deny that there may be some supernatural manifestation that is occurring on a global scale which is actually being driven by the Spirit of the Father.

To Boaz's credit, I greatly appreciate his view regarding the general absence of replacement theology within the Two House movement. I've fought that battle extensively with Two House critics...

"One would be hard pressed to find one individual in the Two-House movement that would boldly state that they have replaced and are now physical Israel—whereas there are many churches and Christians denominations that fund and support the Messianic movement that do believe and support this false teaching." pg.15

Ultimately, Boaz considers the Two-House movement to be simply a by-product of Messianic Judaism's rejection of Christian Gentiles wanting to observe Torah.

"Though First Fruits of Zion is not ready to endorse the particulars of the Two-House theology, we are able to understand why the teaching arose and why it makes sense to those within the movement. In my conversations with Ephraimites, I have heard the same story, told in one form or another, countless times. Over and over again, I have heard of how non-Jewish believers originally participating in Messianic Judaism were sent away, told that the Torah was not for them. In so doing, they have disenfranchised a large number of non-Jewish believers who are seeking out their biblical roots in an attempt to return to a purer form of our faith." pg.6

To some degree, he seems correct in this estimation. But a reality is a reality no matter how one spins the reality... even if the spinsters are the ones who actually represent the reality (or rather, mis-represent the reality which they represent).

I know that was a confusing statement. Let me explain.

If Ephraim truly became "the fullness of the nations" as Genesis 48:19 indicates he would, then Ephraim exists as a great multitude irrespective of how he is awakening to a desire for Torah life currently. Non-Israelites have been drawn to Israelites and to the Light of Torah since the time they were held captive in Egypt. So that general experience and interest cannot really be indicative of genetic Israelite realities. Instead, Ephraimites are awakening to their identity the very way Yeshua and Hosea indicated they would and at the stage or timeframe expected. Their desire for Torah, in my view, is simply a part of the prophetic timeline where the repentance would come after the Prodigal realizes who he is. The goyim that the Prodigal joined himself to (Luke 15:15) may also repent and just MAYBE this is by Heaven's design. Regardless, the movement is not what Boaz suggests... where "Christian Gentiles" are succumbing to some delusional false-identity that is simply a by-product of Jew-dah's rejection of them. In fact, Jew-dah's rejection is indeed real and has only helped in creating a distinguishable barrier between the two groups instead of allowing for more unity to manifest... making the "Two House reality" even more pronounced. This too seems to be by design. The Prodigal Son parable indicates the older brother remains estranged from his younger rebelious brother until after the Father goes out to His lost son, to restore him.

Ephraim and Jew-dah could be one in Torah and Messiah (the Living Torah), and ultimately they will be, but such is not the case yet (at least such is not broadly manifesting yet). And this is actually what the prophets predicted. Israel and Jew-dah are still separate in Jeremiah 31:31. They are separate entities in Jeremiah 50. They are separate in Ezekiel 37. This means they are primarily not mixed together currently, although there has been some intermingling over the ages.

In a couple places, Boaz tries to paint the Two-House movement as something "new" and in its developing stages... which he tries to allude to as the possible cause for the conflicting and/or difficult language used to describe the Two House movement by individuals within the movement itself. This too is a proper, but incomplete estimation. I would rather describe the phenomenon in this way: The "Two House Reality" is nothing new, but something very ancient. The state of one of the Houses (the Prodigal) currently awakening is somewhat new. And just like any person waking up, 100% coherency should not be expected when asked questions like "Who are you and what proof do you have?" and "Why have you been sleeping so long and why are you in my house?"

Even though many parts of Ephraim are still asleep, there is some leadership that is speaking coherently and accurately regarding who Ephraim is legitimately. And they have much more than delusional insecurity as supporting evidence. I hope Boaz and his colleagues will eventually accept this, but the great thing about realities is the fact that they are real even when denied by intellectuals unwilling to change their mental paradigm.

A story of a Father and two brothers: Ephraim and Jew-dah

There are many mysteries surrounding the patriarch Jacob, his beginning, and his descendants’ promised and profound destiny in the Last Days. Mysteries aside... there are some things we know with near historic certainty. After King Solomon’s death, the single United Kingdom of Israel split into two Kingdoms or rather, two bickering brothers who largely continued their hostilities toward one another for the remainder of their existence as neighbors. They actually went to war with each other where hundreds of thousands died.

If you’re familiar with the Christian New Testament, it is easy to capture a glimpse of this brotherhood in Yeshua’s story of the Prodigal Son mentioned only in the Gospel of Luke (Ch.15:11-32).

By the time Yeshua told this amazing story, the ten tribes of the Northern Kingdom (the House of Joseph/Ephraim) had been in exile for more than 700 years, while the Southern Kingdom (the House of Jew-dah/Judah) had remained comparatively faithful and in the Promised Land, minus the 70 years spent in Babylonian Captivity.

We know 10-Israel never returned from Assyria with any large representation because the historian Josephus indicated they were still east of the Euphrates River during his lifetime (Antiquities of the Jews - Book XI, Ch 5). Furthermore, prominent Jewish rabbis during the same time period (shortly after Yeshua's resurrection) were still debating whether the exiles of 10-Israel would ever return (Mishnah, Sanhedrin 110b).

Even so, Yeshua’s parable and many other prophecies indicate the proverbial Prodigal Son would eventually "come to himself" (Luke 15:17; Hosea 1:9-10 and 2:23) and begin his journey home (Luke 15:20)... home to the Land and House of his Father, יהוה.

Luke 15 - A Prophetic Macro-Timeline of the Last Days

Below, I go verse-by-verse explaining some of the history and many prophetic implications of what Yeshua described to His disciples. Being Jews of the Southern Kingdom of Judah, they very likely knew what He was describing. Yet, because Christianity is largely ignorant of the ancient Two-House reality, it is difficult for the casual Christian reader to connect the deep, meaningful, and literal intent of this parable.

Luke 15:11-32 (KJV):
(11) And he said, A certain man had two sons:

In the Tanakh (the so-called "Old Testament"), these two proverbial sons (sometimes described as "daughters" or "sisters" like in Jeremiah 3) are listed nearly two hundred times as "Israel" and "Judah". Less frequently, the names "Ephraim" and "Judah" or "Joseph" and "Judah" are used. Using e-Sword or BibleWorks or some other Bible software, you can confirm this yourself easily by searching these names together.

(12) And the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of goods that falleth to me. And he divided unto them his living.

Ephraim, being the son of Joseph, was most certainly the younger of Judah.

(13) And not many days after the younger son gathered all together, and took his journey into a far country, and there wasted his substance with riotous living.

There are numerous historical passages and prophecies that depict Ephraim and/or 10-Israel being deported and/or scattered to far off countries and eventually returning home from those far off places.

(14) And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land; and he began to be in want.

There is an allusion here to Joseph. While he was still hidden in Egypt, there was a devastating famine which spread throughout the known world. It was so harsh it forced Joseph's brothers to seek food in Egypt. Eventually Jacob moved his entire family there. In later generations, they would eventually sell themselves into slavery due to lack of food even after moving to Egypt.
Comparing prophetic famine parallels in the book of Revelation (famine which impact Ephraim's many nations) also adds more depth to this verse.

(15) And he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country; and he sent him into his fields to feed swine.

Genesis 9:27 prophesied that Japheth would dwell in the tents of Shem. Ephraim of course was a descendant of Shem... and Ephraim was scattered into lands formerly inhabited by Japheth in lands stretching from Eastern Europe to Central Asia. There they joined and mixed together and became a great multitude of peoples which spread throughout Eurasia.

(16) And he would fain have filled his belly with the husks that the swine did eat: and no man gave unto him.

Hosea 9:3 indicates Ephraim would return to the land of distress/tribulation (Egypt) and eat unclean food. Amazing parallel, yes?

(17) And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father's have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger!

Verse 17 is key to understanding a major prophetic ramification. The Prodigal Son does NOT fully awake to himself until after he starts to go through Trouble (think "Jacob's Trouble"). In other words, Ephraim is predominantly LOST to himself until threatened with great tribulation and starvation on a global level. It will closely parallel the previous experience in Egypt of starvation, enslavement, and then redemption.

(18) I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee,

Verse 18 confirms the belief that Ephraim will be repentant and/or in the process of repenting BEFORE he is able to return to the House of his Father in Israel.
Compare Jeremiah 31:17-18 for an amazing parallel to this point.
Intriguingly, there is currently a phenomenon known as the "Hebraic Roots" movement that is spreading like wild fire around the world, where Christians are returning to the Way of יהוה, the Way of Torah.

(19) And am no more worthy to be called thy son: make me as one of thy hired servants.

Compare Jeremiah 31:19-20 for an amazing continuation of this parallel passage. How can anyone deny that Yeshua was referring to Ephraim and his companion Israelite tribes when He told this parable?
Many Christians who find themselves embracing this deep and unexplainable desire to support the Jewish state of Israel are actually Ephraimites who are largely unaware of their identity. Many of them desire to simply "serve" the Jews in many different capacities. I've had some tell me they would be willing to suit up and fight along with the IDF against the Islamic extremists. This has been a growing movement that has been especially manifest by the John Hagee types in America and Europe. Those who have actually fought with Jew-dah in their various wars are often called "Righteous Gentiles" or "Righteous Goyim". Remember, Genesis 48:19 indicates in Hebrew that Ephraim would become the fullness of the "goyim".

(20) And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him.

Ephraim will yet be in a far off country when he comes to himself and repents. Jew-dah will not be the one to go to Ephraim. The Father is the One who has compassion and goes out to 10-Israel to bring them home.

(21) And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son.

In some of the Messianic Jewish community, there is this "Jew and Gentile, One in Messiah" theme that reverberates a desire to unite and be equal. But even so, there is this pervasive nuance that Christians are second-class citizens. The Jews are not the primary culprit for this. The goyim of Ephraim simply have this complex of inferiority which is likely more rooted in self-guilt and the lies of the Adversary than anything else.

(22) But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet:

When one sees this reference regarding the "best robe", think Joseph's "Coat of Many Colors" (Genesis 37:3). But also consider Genesis 41:42: "Then Pharaoh took his signet ring from his finger and put it on Joseph's finger. He dressed him in robes of fine linen and put a gold chain around his neck.

(23) And bring hither the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry:

The return of Ephraim/10-Israel has been awaited for with much expectancy for many centuries. Many generations have sought the Lost tribes of Israel, but have been unable to truly identify them with compelling evidence until the last one hundred years. Even Jewish expectations of King Messiah are intimately connected to the return of the lost tribes.The book of Revelation certainly depicts a celebratory feast, actually a marriage feast (Revelation 19:7).

(24) For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry.

Note: Ezekiel 37:1-14 "the valley of dry bones" where the Israelites come back to life. The context is actually more 10-Israel than it is Judah. It appears to be more proverbial and figurative, but may ultimately be a literal/physical event as well.

(25) Now his elder son was in the field: and as he came and drew nigh to the house, he heard music and dancing.
(26) And he called one of the servants, and asked what these things meant.
(27) And he said unto him, Thy brother is come; and thy father hath killed the fatted calf, because he hath received him safe and sound.
(28) And he was angry, and would not go in: therefore came his father out, and intreated him.

Jew-dah has grown accustomed (in my opinion) to being in the lime light of global attention. Not always with affection, but certainly held in strange, disproportional, and peculiar focus by the nations. BUT... when the Remnant of Ephraim returns to the Land, the attention will dramatically shift. All of a sudden, a myriad of Ephraim's goyim will fill up the Land... so much so that modern Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, and Egypt will not even be able to contain them. It is true that prophetically only a remnant of Ephraim will survive the famine and tribulations that are to come, but even a Remnant will be an ocean of peoples. And this will likely make Jew-dah jealous and angry.

(29) And he answering said to his father, Lo, these many years do I serve thee, neither transgressed I at any time thy commandment: and yet thou never gavest me a kid, that I might make merry with my friends:

Jew-dah is certainly being a bit disgenuous here by claiming perfection. His time in Babylonian Captivity is certainly evidence he wasn't perfect in keeping the commandments of his Father. Yet in comparison to Ephraim's overt perversion, Jew-dah certainly "appears" pure as new snow. Yet, Jeremiah 3 certainly indicates that hasn't always been the most consistent case.

(30) But as soon as this thy son was come, which hath devoured thy living with harlots, thou hast killed for him the fatted calf.

Various religious systems that Ephraim established while in exile, especially that which can be depicted in Catholicism, is certainly a glaringly obvious picture of spiritual/religious adultery/harlotry. The sheer number of baptized paganisms contained within various Christian systems is stunning. The celebration of Christmas and Easter doesn't even scratch the surface.

(31) And he said unto him, Son, thou art ever with me, and all that I have is thine.
(32) It was meet that we should make merry, and be glad: for this thy brother was dead, and is alive again; and was lost, and is found.

The 10 Tribes of Israel are internationally known as "the LOST Ten Tribes of Israel". Interestingly, many of these internationals are the very representation of what they think is Lost. The House of Joseph looks like a proverbial Egyptian. He is currently hidden, even to himself.

The Prophet Hosea also illustrates and confirms this macro-timeline of Ephraim in the Last Days. He depicts them first as "a people", then as "not a people" (lost), then finally as "a people" found (Hosea 1:9-10 and 2:23). The Prophet Ezekiel portrays a similar theme from chapters 34-39.

Answer: Technically, no one keeps ALL the Torah/Law today. Even if you were to live in the Land of Israel with a Temple and priesthood, the "individual" (depending on certain specifics) only has about a 1/3 of the Torah that is pertinent or applicable to him/her. Also, the word "Law" is a poor English word to use to truly denote what the word "Torah" means, which can be defined better as "Teachings/Instructions of Light for Living". The word "Law" has much inherent church baggage attached to it in regards to religious matters. See the article: Etymology of the word "Torah" for more details.
Answer: I do not think anyone has to keep the Torah to be "saved" or to receive the seed of salvation. But acts of righteousness are the fruit of an individual's life that eventually develop out of the growth of that inward seed (see the article: For a Tree is Known by its Fruit). The book of James speaks of this concept and Martin Luther generally despised it. Many Christians actually observe a lot of Torah without even realizing it. They simply shy away from the commands which "they" or someone has defined as "Jewish" and thus unnecessary (according to their reasoning), such as eating clean foods, 7th day sabbath, etc. When Yeshua spoke of the heavy burden that the religious leaders of Jew-dah placed on the people, he was speaking of Jewish tradition or Jewish Halakha. Some Jewish tradition was good and even observed by Yeshua, but much of it is not Torah but instead rabbinical innovations which actually break written Torah, something Yeshua confirmed when quoting Isaiah 29:13 in Matthew 15:9.
Answer: Yes, I frequently and actively use NT texts in my own study and teachings. But since the Bereans, Paul, and the disciples considered the Hebrew Scriptures as their "Holy Scriptures", I tend to elevate "those" Scriptures above any others instead of the other way around (i.e., NT above the OT). I have often wondered why Yeshua did not write any books or letters to later be canonized, but then I realize the Tanakh is actually a body of words that represent Him already... much of which He actually spoke in some form or another (John 1:1).
Answer: יהוה and the Tanakh (the Hebrew Scriptures) were always about the nations. Israel was always suppose to be a light to the nations. A mixed-multitude of peoples came out of Egypt with Israel. Ezekiel 37:16 shows 10-Israel and Jew-dah both have "companions" which are from non-Israelite nations. And Ephraim was prophesied to become "the fullness of the nations" (Genesis 48:19).
Regarding prophetic duality and the Church: I believe there is NOT an entity known as "the church" for which Scripture promotes. The word Church is traced back to a word used for a pagan house of worship (Kirche, kirk, etc). See The Origin of the Word "Church". The original word in the ancient texts was "Ekklesia" in Greek and "Hekal" in Hebrew, both meaning simply "Assembly" or "House" or "Temple" or "Body" in various literal and figurative uses. In my mind, the Assembly of Israel (with all her companions) is the bride of Messiah... and He only has one bride. Yet, unfortunately she is very divided amongst herself currently... and is not technically His bride YET. Considering Revelation 19:7, the "marriage covenant" has not yet been cut or made anew or rather renewed at this time. Personally, I only see a scattered, fractured, remnant of people who are only "betrothed" and trying to prepare themselves for Him and the ultimate wedding, thus... this whole idea that "we have a new covenant now and the old one is done away with" is more than just a little amiss. We currently have NO unified assembly and NO established covenant and the Torah that our ancestors tried to keep is something we as individuals can continue to try to keep so long as the practices are pertinent to us as individuals but they are NOT necessarily binding on any particular assembly because the Assembly does NOT exist YET as a MARRIED bride. But just like a betrothed woman prepares for her husband, she can begin to wear clean garments and separate herself away from other men until the time of her wedding. Thus we can and should work actively in our lives to make ourselves ready for Him, not just mentally and emotionally, but through physical and practical living standards set forth in Torah.

As an undergrad history major I stumbled upon this book preparing for a paper. I have to admit that I found this book to be uncommonly interesting. Richard Weikart is most definitely a prolific historian. There are few things that need to be stated in correction. Some of the reviewers of this book believe that Weikart is blaming the entire holocaust on Darwin alone. In fact, Weikart is not blaming everything on Darwin. He recognizes that Darwin would have been aghast at how far his theory was taken. He is merely showing how that evolution evolved paving the way for nazi ideology. Weikart is not merely blaming Hitler's Germany on one ideology. Every historian knows that there are always numerous factors involved with every world event. Weikart accepts nationalism, economics, militarism, conservatism, etc as other things contributing to the main event. Weikart is merely concentrating on the ideological aspect of Hitler's Germany.
He traces a number of developments starting shortly after Darwin's origin of species. He draws from the major scientists and philosophers that impacted German thinking before the outbreak of WWI. Perhaps one of the most fascinating aspects is Carneri's diagram that shows the skull shapes of advanced men and those who are more primitive.
The connection to Hitler is elusive because Hitler would have never have openly allied himself with this thinking. For one he liked to mouth a lot of stuff much of which was a plain contradiction. However, it is apparent that Hitler's roots lie deep into German social Darwinism. A reading of Mein Kampf and the standard rhetoric of Hitler shows his thinking is deeply rooted in the ideals of Germany's philosophers.
I do not blame Darwin for the ills of the world and neither does Weikart. Weikart merely draws the lines and allows the readers to come to their own conclusion. It is impossible to imagine that the world would not have headed to disaster without Darwinism. It is also equally hard to imagine that this ideology had no effect or consequences. The subject of Nazi Germany still is a very popular topic for books, articles and public discussion. Having read many books and articles on this area of history, I can confidently conclude that this is one of the most important (and one of the best scholarly sources). In contrast to many authors who quote each other (and must rely on secondary sources printed in English), Weikart's work relies heavily on primary sources published in German during the time he is covering. Weikart is fluent in the language (I only studied it to pass my Ph.D. reading exams) and lived in Germany to do his research. As a result, Weikart includes much new material for scholars to mull over for the next century. Trees Lost in Their Own Forest

For many centuries, Christians (who have had enough resources) have traveled the globe looking for the "lost ten tribes" of Israel and have written a myriad of books on their findings. They, largely descending from 10-Israel themselves, have been like trees lost in their own forest... looking for a few twigs from a "lost" tree that they themselves fell from or represent.

Being so consumed with biblical minimalism and a religious system that generally asserts that 10-Israel and Jew-dah were forsaken and replaced by the "church", they thus cannot perceive the literal prophetic promises of יהוה regarding the Hebrew multitudes to be present in the Last Days and the promise that they would NOT be forsaken (Jeremiah 51:5). The blindness to their own identity may actually be an extension of the ultimate plan of יהוה, keeping all of Israel partially blind until Ephraim's seed had completed the promise of becoming the "fullness of the goyim" (Genesis 48:19; Romans 11:25; John 10:16; Ezekiel 37:16; Luke 21:24).

The Prodigal Son story in Luke 15 also indicates that the younger, rebellious son (a parable of Ephraim) suddenly "comes to himself" after life becomes very difficult for him (Jacob's Trouble?), and he "remembers" his father's house. And fortunately for him, the Father goes out to him while he is "yet afar off" and rescues him.

In the mean time, you need not be a lost tree, but we may have to wait until the Father comes for us to bring us home to the Land of Israel, for I have only a faint hope that Jew-dah (the elder brother) is going to let us in before hand.
