Hi Everyone!

Have you heard about London’s Handmade Festival? It’s a series of workshops and events held mainly at the Central Branch of the London Public Library. Darren and I will have a table at the Art Show and Sale on Saturday, May 8th, 2010 and we want your help! We plan to take prints of 8-12 of our photographs and have them available for purchase and viewing in person. What we want to know is:

• which images would you like to see up close and personal?
• what size do you think is most appropriate for a show of this nature? we’re planning on focusing on 8×10’s {$35} but may take some 5×7’s {$18} as well.
• would you be interested in seeing notecards {$4.50}?
• what would you like us to give away as a freebie; art magnets? bookmarks? postcards? have another suggestion?
• we’re thinking about having a giveaway that you can enter at the festival, what would you like to win? a matted 8×10 print of your choice?

Plan on coming by the art sale? Thinking about purchasing one of our images but you’d like to see it live-and-in-person first? Let us know! That way we’ll be sure to bring that special piece with us, you can reserve it with no obligations. We can even schedule an appointment for you meet us at the show.

I love the intro video for ommwriter. It whisks me a way to a magical land full of quiet creativity where I can just think and be with my ideas, without distraction. The subtleness of the music is perfect too, any idea who created it? I’ll have to look into that, I need more of it in my life.

I need a whole room like ommwriter, not just a writing interface. In fact, it might be the inspiration for my new office decor.

Good Morning Everyone!

How was your weekend? Ours was just lovely! We stayed cozy at home, dreaming of comfort food and the warmth of spring.

I did a rough plan of our 2010 vegetable garden using this really great website: Gardener’s Supply Kitchen Garden Planner. We’re going to try for some leafy greens this year, which should work well with the amount of shade our backyard can get. Here’s a general idea of what we’re planning on growing:

• onions
• leeks, this will be our first year
• parsley
• mache, we haven’t grown this before but we’re really excited
• lettuce
• mesclun, I’m itching to get things going (I know, it’s only March and I live in zone 6-ish) so I started a tray of mesclun to grow in our living room window.
• beets
• swiss chard
• spinach
• tomatoes
• peppers
• eggplants, hey, a girl can dream
• “melon”, Darren would love to have fresh melon from our garden, I mean, who wouldn’t? But it’s just not practical here so I’ve asked him to choose something else that he can be excited about.
• peas
• basil
• cucumber
• squash
• rosemary
• dill – is it a bad idea to put dill right in the garden? Will it self seed and take over? Should we plant it in a pot?

I’m anxiously awaiting Seedy Saturday here in London so I can pick up some seeds and talk sunshine for an afternoon.

This past Saturday I visited the Western Fair Farmer’s Market to pick up this week’s fresh veggies and I came home with the hugest sweet potato that I’ve ever seen! 1818 grams to be exact. And yes, that’s a full size 10 inch dinner plate it’s sitting on. We’ve been cutting chunks off and making sweet potato fries – yum!

Our weekend was quite food-focused, which seems pretty typical for us. What’s your relationship with food? Love it? Cook it? Grow it? Sell it?

We’ve been busy as bees designing a new blog template that looks great with the rest of our photography site. It’s finally starting to look somewhat like the finished product we have in mind and now we want to know what you think. What new features would you like to see? Monday we mentioned how much fun we had with our recent online survey so now we’re going to start a weekly Friday poll column. Let’s kick things off nice and light and fun this week, we’re wondering how do you like your Friday’s?
