Hello everyone.

In the last couple of months I became aware that there was a video of Greg when he went on his elk hunt right before he went into the hospital for his second transplant. Since I found out I have been asking for it and eventually got a hold of it, but there was a problem. The video was made on one of those camcorders that record straight to DVD and the DVD was never closed (in order for DVD’s and CD’s to work on other devices they have to be closed first). Jamie and I asked everyone we knew in hopes of finding one of these DVD camcorders so we could properly close the DVD and watch what was on it.

After a few weeks of asking around we couldn’t find one and decided to go to the one place that we knew would have one, Best Buy. So on a Sunday afternoon I walked in to our local Best Buy and used one of their display camcorders to properly close the DVD.

Below are the videos that were on the DVD, broken up into 3 separate videos. It can be hard to watch them since none of us have heard his voice or seen him since April, but it is nice to have something to jog our memories.

Hello all. It’s been a while, a long while, but we’re back in Jandyland!!!

We’re kicking off the return of Jandyland by recruiting your help! As most of you know, we lost Andy’s brother, Greg, to Hodgkin’s Lymphoma three months ago. Greg was an amazing fighter and his heroic battle is something that we will NEVER forget. We’re keeping Greg’s memory alive and shining bright daily in our stories, our memories and our prayers and now, we’re continuing his fight to help those living with these cancers now. Let’s put an end to Leukemia & Lymphoma! JOIN TEAM GREG!!!!

On Friday, Saturday 25th we will be walking in the Leukemia & Lymphoma’s “Light the Night” Walk in Corporate Woods. The money raised by each member of TEAM GREG will be put towards putting an end to these cancers. We recruit you all to join the team, raise money and walk with us. Okay, so Andy stayed at home (to watch Season 2 of West Wing….BORING) and I went out on the town hitting up Harpo’s for an FN’A reunion with Casey, Katy & Ben for the Sweet 16 game of MU -vs- Memphis. The night was fantastically fun and the game was AMAZING!!!!!!! The Tigers pulled it off in the end, but they were making me quite nervous. Here’s the shot and the photo of the night! sleeping, or finishing my book club book (this is book #3 that I have not finished in time for book club, I’m the worst) but instead of catching up on my sleep or reading I thought I would catch up on jandyland.com!

It’s been over a month since I last wrote. Between starting my new/old job, turning 28 years old, getting sick from something I caught at my new/old job and figuring out just what the heck is wrong with that Octomom anyways, I’ve been busy! For those of you that don’t know, I started back at Punkin’ Patch on February 9th and I’m so happy! My days in radio have officially come to an end. It’s bittersweet in a way, but I knew that I had done everything I had wanted to in the crazy world of radio and my life was ready for a change and I couldn’t be any happier!!!

The job is great! Right now I pretty much am a “floater” which means that I have a different room almost everyday I’m there, but eventually, I hope to be in a permanent classroom. I’m into my third week and I’m just working hard at continuing to learn the different rooms schedules, all of the kids names and keeping their noses wiped (P.S. Winter is the WORST time to work in day care. Between snotty noses and coughs, it’s enough to make you want to bathe in Purell at the end of the day!)

Other than that, there’s not much more to report at this time (sorry, I know I’m boring sometimes!) Better feed the hay and hit the cats, or is it, feed the cats and hit the hay? Either way….better head to bed. G’night!

Hello to Mike

Last week at Jamie’s fiesta themed birthday party we decided to record a message to our friend Mike & his wife Katie (http://ktyrock.blogspot.com/) who are currently serving with the Peace Corps in Africa. The video will only make sense to those of us who heard the story of Mike trying to carry his mail from the post office back to his apartment. Enjoy!

A Jandy Fit Update

So, tomorrow will mark two weeks for me since I joined Weight Watchers online (it will 2 weeks for Andy on Sunday) and together we are down almost 10 lbs! 5lbs for Andy and 4.5 for me. WooHoo!!!! I will admit, I did have a moment of weakness tonight…okay, a big moment of weakness tonight when Jo and I hit up the movie theatre to see “Rachel Getting Married.” Here’s the culprit…..

Yes, the dreaded (yet, delicious) Peanut M&M’s. I knew I shouldn’t have gotten them, but I did. And I ate them. And they were divine. But new Jamie now knows instead of feeling bad for my fall, and continuing to cheat, I’m gonna’ get right back up tomorrow, dust myself off and start back up at the good stuff (and I mean the stuff that’s good FOR me, not the stuff that I think is good!)

I hope that everyone else is doing well on their resolutions too. Don’t drop them yet, and if you already have….pick them up again. 2009 is the year of change!

President Barack Obama…you gotta’ love him!

What an exciting week ahead of us! On Tuesday, Barack Obama will become our 44th president. This is AMAZING!!!

I’m so thrilled and ready to see what this man will do for our country over the next 8 years (oh yeah, I said it!) I love that he actually stops to think about things before he acts, I love that he does what’s best for the people…and not just for his party, I love that he has given this country a renewed hope and allowed people (like myself) who never in their lives thought they would see an African-American President realize that in this life, and in this country….ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE!!!!

But, one of the things that I love the most of all is that at his core, he’s a family man! Yes, our past presidents have been married and have had children in the White House, but Barack Obama is a man who knows that a great family with solid family values is so important in the fabric of himself and of this country. I truly think that people will see the most powerful man in the world taking time out of HIS schedule for his family and realize just where their priorities lie and that they might need some serious readjusting. Barack is not a man who grew up with a nuclear family, and that just shows what this country is made up of. A family is the foundation on which the person you will become is built on. Whether your family is a Dad, Mom & 2.5 children, a child raised by a grandparent, two Moms and three children, or a family consisting of no children at all….A family is a family, no matter how you cut it, and Barack Obama has proven that it is one of the most important things in our lives!

Wii Fit: An Update

I’ve already dropped 1.3 lbs (I know, it’s a difference of water weight from one evening to the next afternoon, but I’m taking it!)

And I did some more tests and DECREASED my Wii age! By 10 years! I’m officially 29 in Wii World!!!! WOOOOHOOOO!!!!

Yoga Andy

So, our first step in our road to a healthier Jandy was to establish where we are now so we will know how far we have come. After looking at the ads the other day I told Andy that I thought we needed a good scale so we could keep track of our weight….Andy’s solution….a Wii Fit. Because it has a built in scale in it. Like the rest of the world trying to find a Wii fit, we knew we wouldn’t have any luck. Then, last night by a stroke of luck, Andy found ONE at Target.

We brought it home, got it set up and began…. First of all, let me say, do NOT use a Wii Fit if you are not prepared to see how you really look, but it will create your avatar to reflect your…shall we say..bulk?!? It was a hit to the ego! It also gives you a Wii Fit age based on your weight, posture, etc…. My Wii fit age was 39! 11 years older than I really am….and Andy’s was 42.

We’ve got a lot of work to do, but we’re on our way…

Jandy On Resolutions- Kick-Off

Should auld accquaintance, be forgot?
And never brought to mind?
Should Jandy’s bad habits be forgot?
And days of auld lang syne?

Okay, it’s almost a new year and it’s time for a new Jandy! EVERY YEAR we make resolutions and EVERY YEAR we break them! It’s frustrating…well, not this year. We’re becoming a more fit, more healthy, much smaller versions of ourselves. AND we’re documenting it on jandyland.com. It’s going to help keep us committed. So that when you notice we haven’t blogged about hitting a weight loss number or the frustations (and joys) of getting healthy again, you know we’ve messed up and being the great family and friends that you are will say “Hey you fat arses? Whatever happened to your new years resolutions?”

Oh, I’m also going to floss more and make Sundays (or Saturdays if we’re busy on Sundays) mandatory, clean the house days. All too often we wait until the house NEEDS to be clean before we clean it. Not anymore…we’re staying on top of it this year, this I promise you!

So, enjoy those last few days of holiday cheer, then watch out for Jandy ‘09! Kickin’ arse and takin’ names! Woooooooooottttttt, wooooooooootttttttt!!!!!!
