Each of us thoroughly convinced that by getting our hands on one of these it would propel us into the upper echelons of academia by providing the means to be able to figure out most, if not all, of the world’s most difficult problems (mathematical or not) on this tiny computer.

I never really grew out of that phase and watches still manage to hold that same level of fascination for me. I’m secretly convinced that once the zombie apocalypse is upon us my new G-Shock GW7900 will make me the de facto leader of the small ragtag group of survivors desperately trying to save humanity.

The G-Shock GW7900B shows moon phases and data as well as tide graphs. When you are running from a rabid band of zombies trying to eat your brains you don’t always have time to look up into the sky to see what the fuck the moon is doing. Thankfully, with this watch you don’t have to. (It was just pointed out to me that that moon data is probably intended for use in the daytime when you “supposedly” can’t see the moon.)

The GW7900B also has world time because obviously when you’re trying to get the hell away from a bunch of zombies you don’t necessarily want to limit yourself to the North American continent. If we end up in China or Australia there’s going to be some point when people are going to know what time it is and I will be in the unique position to be able to tell them thus solidifying my position of dominance and power even further.

Of course there is a small likelihood the zombie apocalypse may never happen but in that case it’s still a win/win situation. My brain is 83% less likely to be eaten by someone and I still have a really cool watch.

I guess it’s true what they say, fashion is cyclical. I remember back when I was writing for Metadish there was a significant period of time when side boob coverage was all the rage (man, I hope I’m remembering that correctly and I don’t just sound like a side boob freak).

As far as fashion cycles go I suppose this one is way better than when bell bottoms somehow managed to make their way back into vogue in the early 90s.

We can only hope that one day Miley will have saved enough money to buy a new shirt and a pair of shoes.

Bob Moog is best known as the inventor of the Moog synthesizer (and therefor indirectly responsible for around 87% of 80′s music. This is what the first three days of Facebook’s stock valuation looks like. At its IPO on Friday it opened at $38 per share and by closing bell yesterday it was at $30. It’s quite possible the outlook would be much bleaker than this if it hadn’t come out that even on opening day Morgan Stanley had to step in and start buying up shares to just make sure the price broke even on Friday.

Now Zuck knows what it feels like to go through all of the trouble of setting up your totally kick-ass awesome event on Facebook and inviting all of your friends and only two people RSVP.

Don’t be looking for shares to be making a comeback today either. Morgan Stanley is already in the sights of regulators and have been subpoenaed for allegedly withholding information from investors. It’ll be interesting to see if anything can plug this leak and do a little damage control until the weekend gets here and gives people more time to cool off.

It’s 2012, sleep number beds are old and busted. Levitating earth magnet beds are the new hotness. Reddit user mememetatata decided he wanted to build himself a unique bed and was inspired when he came across Janjaap Ruijssenaars’ magnetic floating bed.

The DIY project cost around $1,000 which is slightly less expensive than the $181,000 Ruijssenaars’ ‘Falling Up’ bed costs and that’s for the low end model. The top of the line model goes for around $1,890,240.

Of course sleeping on a levitating magnetic bed would take some getting used to. You’d have to train yourself to a whole new set of ground rules. Two things you would absolutely never want to do on a magnetic bed is fall asleep with your credit cards in your pocket or while holding a CRT monitor.

Facebook released a new app tonight that makes it incredibly simple to manage your Facebook pages on the go. This is the second standalone app Facebook has released, the first one being the Facebook Messenger app.

If you’re like me you’re probably already drunk you’ll have to watch a few times because once you actually start seeing the transformations your eyes cheat back to the real picture to make sure you’re not getting punked somehow.

This is the most concrete proof yet that celebrities are actually aliens that came to our planet, not to harvest our resources, but to slowly and painfully bring mankind to its knees by crippling the arts and economy with mediocre acting, infinite sequels and exorbitant ticket prices.

This completely kick ass record and tape store has been doing business here for more than 40 years. What’s surprising about its longevity is it’s prime location in Park Slope where rent is so expensive that businesses go bust almost as often as the R train breaks down.

Having done some research it seems as though the place was scheduled for eviction back in May of 2009 but it doesn’t appear as though that happened.

The Record and Tape Center, a dusty, cramped record store that has occupied the same spot on Fifth Avenue, near Ninth Street, for the past 38 years, will be shuttered by May 31, the result of an eviction notice that store owner Tony Mignone said came out of the blue.

“I’ve never even been late on my rent!” said Mignone, who opened his store on Fifth Avenue and Sixth Street in 1965, and moved to his present location in 1971.

According to the letter, the landlords, a family that owns several grocery stores in the neighborhood, including the Deli and Smoke Shop next door, wants to use the space for itself.

I can’t find any articles about it getting any sort reprieve but since it still appears to be open it obviously did.

It’s why I’m excited to announce today that our Motorola Mobility deal has closed. Motorola is a great American tech company that has driven the mobile revolution, with a track record of over 80 years of innovation, including the creation of the first cell phone. We all remember Motorola’s StarTAC, which at the time seemed tiny and showed the real potential of these devices. And as a company who made a big, early bet on Android, Motorola has become an incredibly valuable partner to Google.

The timing seems odd considering that just yesterday Motorola made a rather odd announcement that is sure to anger Motorola customers to no end. Motorola, now the official mobile manufacture of Google, running Google’s Android platform has decided that it won’t be upgrading all of its devices unless they decide it will improve that device.

You may be wondering why all devices aren’t being upgraded to Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). Here’s the deal. We work very closely with Google and cell phone carriers for every software update. And, obviously we want the new release to improve our devices. If we determine that can’t be done—well then, we’re not able to upgrade that particular device.

The line that really irks me is, “If we determine that can’t be done—well then, we’re not able to upgrade that particular device.” But Mom, I really wanted an upgrade.

It’s hard to imagine how an upgrade to the newest and best version of Android OS wouldn’t provide at least a marginal improvement over Gingerbread considering the new goodies including in ICS.

We’re not even talking about completely old, outdated phones either. There are quite a few decent dual-core devices that aren’t on the list of “Motorola approved” devices.

If you happen to own a Droid Bionic, Droid Razr, Droid Razr Maxx, Motorola Razr, Droid 4, Photon 4G, Atrix 4G, Atrix 2, Electrify then you’re in luck. That’s it, just nine of their devices are being supported. If you own one of the other 16 or 17 devices don’t expect to be rocking ICS anytime soon ever. I’m sure Motorola wouldn’t mind if you just fork over some money and buy a new device, although after this fiasco it’s hard to conceive why anyone would want to at this point.

Google, this isn’t a great way to start showing off your new acquisition and perpetuating the complete fragmentation of the Android platform.
