If you’ve completed an internship and will be a junior or senior during the 2009/2010 academic year, you are eligible to be a CAT volunteer.  To apply please e-mail your resume to careers@ist.psu.edu along with a paragraph explaining why you would like to be a CAT volunteer before May 1, 2009.

The IST Alumni Society is sponsoring a student event to get the Future Forum and Blue and White weekend kicked off. This will be somewhat like the kickball game held last year, but now we are going to be scavenging all over campus. Food and refreshments will be provided, as well as prizes awarded to the winners! This field trip is open to all current IST and SRA undergraduate students. Lunch and a light breakfast will be provided. We will be leaving at 5 a.m. and plan to return to State College by 10 p.m.

Interested students can reserve a seat by dropping off a $10 deposit to the 104 lobby (from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.) as soon as possible – seats will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

This is a hands-on 4-credit course that covers interfacing various sensors, actuators, instruments, sub-systems and software programs to computers and humans of various form factors to develop proof-of-concept systems for innovative products and services.

This course uses virtual instrumentation (LabVIEW) to equip students from diverse disciplines with the knowledge, skills and experience to integrate innovative proof-of-concept systems (including Lab Automation systems) using commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) components. The course has a significant entrepreneurial flavor and an emphasis on developing high-tech high-impact leapfrogging technologies for marginalized communities.

Past student ventures include:
- Mashavu - Networked Healthcare Solutions for the Developing World (Raised about $70,000 in seed money and won several national honors)
- Buzby Networks (Raised $28,000 in seed funds from NCIIA and The Tech Collaborative)
- BlueToe PDA based skiing performance enhancer (Represented Penn State at the Global Idea to Product Competition)

Significant funds are available for student projects.

The course is open to undergraduate and graduate students from ALL disciplines across campus.

Check with your major department to learn if it can be used as some sort of elective.

This is a paid position. The qualified individuals will be paid $10/hour for 60 hours of work. During the preparation week of June 15th - 19th the hours are more flexible. While the camp is in session the work hours will be scheduled between 8:00am - 6:00 pm.

Required: Knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming-preferably Alice 3-D Programming Environment

Responsibilities:
* Assist in classroom
* Produce CD/Video
* Travel with students to/from camp
