New Traveler T-shirt and New Desktops

The Traveler is an ink drawing i did on a 4" x 6" piece of photo paper. An ink pen has great fluidity on photo paper so it's easy to get beautiful lines. Satisfied with it, I decided to convert the image digitally and place it on a shirt. A friend of mine also really dug the image (Thanx James!).

The Money Masters

I recently finished watching The Money Masters over the Independence Day weekend. The documentary thoroughly explains how the wealthiest control and manipulate the monetary system preventing financial freedom for public society. A bit of irony there.

The documentary clocks at an impressive 3 and half hours and the wealth of history on banking/money history is overwhelming. Producer Patrick Carmack presents an excellent film and I strongly recommend watching it. It will inform you on how fraudulent our monetary system is and explain why you haven't been able to save a dime for your future.

I want to note this is a factual look into our fractional monetary system and how the Federal Reserve is a facade. It is not a conspiracy-theory filled film with non-facts. It is part of U.S. history.

Bill Maher and The Green American Dream

I'm a fan of Bill Maher and his show on HBO, Real Time with Bill Maher. His movie, Religious, was a comedic and religious commentary masterpiece.

I know he has a self-centered demeanor many people do not like. Some would say he is a "douche bag". However, I don't see it quite the same. I think his opinions are spot-on and he has to be a douche bag to get them across. I feel I'm much on the same page as he is, when it comes to common sense and rationality. Fire is hot, you don't touch it. That's common sense. When it comes to... the fire is hot, what the hell, let's touch it... that's American.

Last week's episode, May 29, 2009, Maher, in his closing monologue, revealed a prolific statement that, I believe, all Americans harbor in denial.

"Americans will do anything to each other for money."

Simple, to the point and ever-so true. It pains me to think our species is cognitively sophisticated with a purpose to enhance and advance humanity, yet only so for the right price. Where is the logic and morality in that?

I care about humanity and our environment. I care about about my planet and going "green" as much as Ed Begley' Jr. does. I just don't have a TV show or the money. Catch my drift? Why not enable the common tax payer, like me, a chance to transition to a green life style with out making us go bankrupt? Where is government in this situation? Oh right... they're too busy giving banks and other failing institutions bailout money the taxpayer can use to go green.

This last presidential campaign gave a majority of Americans a man that saw America needed change. Yet, there hasn't been one step in the direction of alternative energies or better regulation on the food and healthcare industries. We'll just have to "hope" and see.

The Derivatives Game

A majority of the population of the U.S. does not know what a derivative is. I'm not sure what it is either. Then I looked it up on Wikipedia and found "A stock derivative is any financial instrument which has a value that is dependent on the price of the underlying stock." OK? I think I'd understand it better in layman's terms but I'll continue studying.

With all the reading I've been doing on the stock market and the current A.I.G. bonus scandal, a derivative's definition seems to have changed a bit. It appears more like a security comprised of unstable assets such as mortgages, car payments, and credit card debt. Then it's resold to another financial institution as insurance then passed along like a hot potato. The shady part is when you sell off a derivative as a credit default swap or CDS, it apparently loses value immediately becoming more "toxic" than before. It's a gambling game except that the person selling, is winning all the time. And if it's your money (or mortgage in light of the current economic crisis), you're the biggest loser. They're literally laughing all the way to the bank. Greedy, ugly and shameful....

Plenty of economists and law officials foresaw this derivatives bubble inflating and warned of its potential collapse. One such person was a NY Governor by the name of Eliot Spitzer. Remember him? Whether conspiracy or not, one has to observe an article he wrote for the Washington Post in 2006 about the shenanigans of derivatives and its severe affect it would have on the U.S. economy. Then, three weeks after his article posted, he was outed for a prostitution ring he was involved in. Not too smart on Mr. Spitzer's part since his justice for the people had been overshadowed by his lust for female attention other than his wife. The video below gives a more detailed account. The financial system is an extremely complex organism and it should be integrated in our early education system. I believe if humans continue using the monetary system as a source of growth, there should be a structural foundation in learning the stock market at an early age. It only makes sense. It would weed out the unethical attempts of unregulated laws and possibly put forth a young mind who could restructure the financial system that would benefit all, not just those who know the game.

More Athiests But God in the Brain?

Last week, I stumbled upon a few articles diving into the debatable topic... the explanation of God, or one there of. The ambition of humanity to prove its uniqueness and clandestine purpose will forever be the greatest aspiration. As an agnostic, I like to observe the sides of both arguments with an open mind and logistical approach.

Religion has been a cultural importance since Man began to cognitively and critically think of his own existence. This much is understood and accepted. The scriptures of the "Big Three" - Christianity, Islam and Judaism, written in the Eastern Hemisphere with momentum that moved to the Western Hemisphere, have definitely shaped society up until this century. These allegories do have relevant meaning within the context of morality and are meant primarily to guide us. However, it is unfortunate to say they have been more used as an instrument of control and expansion rather than self-empowerment. This is no secret as we move further into the 21st century. The exposure of religion in this manner is prominent more today with the wars in the Middle East and the conservative, evangelical tendencies of the Republican Party in the U.S. Those who follow in the rhetoric these movements preach, are extremely angry and irrational. I will go far to say, they are simple-minded folk with the stubbornness and resistance to think for themselves... troubling to say the least.

There is, most certainly, a shift happening and a rather rational one! Cenk Uygur of the The Young Turks TV program points out a 15% minority of Americans are non-believers.

This CNN article surveys there are less Christians in the U.S. now than there were before (Muslims have doubled from 0.3% to 0.6% and Jews have remained consistent).

The second part of this post ventures to the opposite realm of religion - Science! An article by Steve Connors of the Independent reported on scientists identifying, or at least trying, a section of the brain where religious belief is established. It's an interesting article conveying the ambition of our species diligently searching for the origin of our truth. With respect to theologians, this is a more viable and tangible means of discovering the Architect.

Tradition is embedded in the fabric of culture and the notion of it becoming expendable is far-fetched. Or is it? Rituals don't necessarily hold any value either, except for "my ancestors used to do it a long time ago." Wow, great. As we move further into the Information/Technological Age, the dogma and ritual of religion becomes dubious and has a propagandizing intention. It conflicts with scientific discovery and with the search for truth.

Why would propagators of religion hide the truth of self-empowerment? Easy... To horde the fruits of knowledge from a world they deem too futile to critically think for themselves.

Giving people the chance would change how theologies are perceived, eventually stripping away false idols, fading them away, and rounding up the masses into one-core belief system - their own. It's a better idea than a One World Government and something I believe necessary for humanity's future well-being.

Noam Chomsky and New Items on eBay

More recently, I've been an advocate to question religious authority. I believe it prevents an individual from critically thinking and seeking wisdom integral to the growth of their well-being. This isn't to take away the positive reinforcement religious communities offer, but to perhaps realize the diminishing role religion has, as our society shapes into a more 21st century image. Growing up with a Catholic mother and Muslim father, I never understood the benefit of burying my youth for the sake of religion. Nor did they ever force me to, thankfully. Being taught common sense in right and wrong situations, respectfulness to others, listening to your parents and other "commandments" were all the "religion" I needed to know to become a responsible adult. Raised as a Catholic, church had no role in my upbringing.

Today, more than ever, the authorities on scripture are in danger of losing their followers. The research in science and technology is an appendage of humanity to deconstruct and analyze the greatest mysteries of the universe. With these advancements, it has become an obstacle for the grand masters of our age-old hegemonic orders of belief control.

Is the degradation of religion depriving a society or actually enhancing it? Critical thinking is fundamental to human existence. I've found 2 articles. One, an interview with Noam Comsky, a professor at MIT whose study of language has affected the philosophy of language and mind, and, a BBC interview with the Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr. Rowan Williams that gives a bit of reflection.

Christopher Hitchens & Rev. Al Sharpton : Science vs. Religion

Yesterday, I watched an hour and a half of two well-recognized intellectuals debate the existence of the G-O-D itself. I say itself because any logically-minded individual would AT LEAST understand that the all-knowing omni-potent power that moves the universe is not, and can not be, humanized. Sorry folks...

The premise of the debate was based on Mr. Hitchen's book "God Is Not Great" recently released. I'm sorry to say I haven't read it. Perhaps I should add it to my very, very long list of books to read...

Moving onward. I enjoyed this debate very much. I have to say Mr. Hitchens is well-educated and knows his facts. A writer of 18+ books on numerous political and social topics, he demonstrated a keen perspective for "believers".

Mr. Sharpton, on the other hand, seem to be out-weighed by Mr. Hitchens' fact pointing, references of philosophical writers and recitings of the Bible. Mr. Sharpton kept eluding to the basis of the debate on being about Mr. Hitchens' book and the existence of a "God".

The show is a small collection of drawings and paintings I've selected spanning a 10 year period which display a sense of transition in my work. "So what?"

The empty response to a question Martha Raddatz had for our on-the-way-out President on the preoccupation of Iraq and 2003 invasion. I wonder if he would respond the same way if over 4000 parents had asked him the same question in the same room. 4000, the round-about number of U.S. troops who have given their lives in a truly unnecessary war. A war that is more based on control and dominance of a culture and people than it is on spreading democracy. A war that has destroyed the international economic system and has caused countless financial repercussions in the U.S. A war for profit for an exclusive club of evil-doers posing as "good" men for a "righteous" cause.

The true colors of the Bush and Cheney administration becomes more clear as they kick off their shoes and lean back in their executive chairs and laugh at the rest of us.

Black Lines In a White World is available!

Black Lines In a White World is a collection of black and white images I've done from the past 10 or so years. The idea was to present a book similar to a sketchbook but not literally. There aren't any bodies of text because I wanted to give the viewer a display of my imagination. It is always more fun to understand what a work could be rather than divulge the information directly for the viewer's consumption. An artist could always create and have it mean something to them. However, when an observer or critic analyzes a work, it takes on new life. It is one of the most democratic aspects of art - free interpretation. There could be wars fought over the meanings of paintings. I'm kidding. That would be silly... or not?

Some of the images are sketches of paintings, potential works of art, and manipulated digital images. I hope you find enjoyment in my work as much as I did creating them.

This is the first in a series of books I want to present to the public. Modern technology and the Web enable artists like me to promote my artwork without any representation. A grassroots method if you will. This book was a lot of fun to put together and I look forward to creating the next one, which will be a book about my paintings in 2009.

JC Fridays Dec. 5: HCAS and Pocket-Sized

This past weekend I had the opportunity to be part of two cultural events on JC Fridays, a free art event that happens on the first Friday of every month. Art House Productions puts on the event called Hudson County Art Slam along with LaOla.org and Roland Ramos. All three entities are very active in the local community. It's a great way to be exposed to a lot of the talented artists who live in the Hudson County area. In addition, artists get the opportunity to exhibit their works as an alternative to the well-known NYC scene.

The Art Slam had plenty of work and music going on, home made goods and refreshments on hand. A couple of spoken word acts and musical performers rounded out the night. I really need to work on getting myself a digital camera since I don't have any pictures (Thanks Lily!). However, a friend of mine captured my two pieces and our favorite piece of the show:

Definitely one of the best pieces of the show. Facial expression, tonality... very nice.

The Pocket Sized show at 32 Jones Gallery was curated by Jaden Rodgers, a designer from Jersey City. The show was a bit more intimate in size and displayed 10-15 artists. A DJ was rounding out the conversation chatter and onlookers contemplating artists pieces. It was a completely cool, chill vibe. Just how I like it and here's my piece to show for it:

Jersey City really is a pleasant underground haven for gifted people who cement themselves in the idea of community. It widens the eye to many individuals similar to me who know the world is cruel but try to be good in it.

Bolivian President Evo Morales

So many Americans are energized about President-elect Barack Obama. Many are not... which news media channels fail to report the amount of racist actions that has taken off ever since November 4th. Let's not be surprised about it none-the-less. They are a minor collection of naive, faith-based individuals still living in segregated America completely in denial of the progressive America of the 21st century.

However, this post is not about Barack Obama as the title indicates. I recently had the pleasure of watching Bolivian President Evo Morales being interviewed on Democracy Now!, a fantastic current events program. Please subscribe to this news channel.

After watching his 40 minute interview (it's worth watching), Morales clearly has a grasp of how to make Bolivio a thriving society united under the people, not the government or private interests. Many of the ideas he mentions are on the same level as Barack Obama's. He faces the same opposition as Obama does such as right-wing lobbyists and energy privatization (he mentions and recognizes all peoples have the human right to have energy). He wants to nationalize many of Bolivia's resources to the people.

Also, what I think makes him a level up on Obama is his restrictions on war. Bolivia is to not be a military or violent state. He is currently in the process of setting up non-war pacts with neighboring South American countries. He told the ambassador of the U.S. he had 3 months to pack his things and leave Bolivia. He is also not allowing any DEA agents or operations carried out since he felt they were actually encouraging drug trafficking rather than preventing it.

This gives the sense that a majority of South American nations are tired of being bullied around. And rightfully so! For far too long this region of the Western hemisphere has been under U.S. influence for all the wrong reasons - drugs, oil, slave labor, destruction of vital rain forests and the Panama Canal to name some .

The revitalization of the human spirit is such a powerful force that Morales became the first indigenous President of Bolivia. He, too like Barack Obama, had suffered through bigotry and the phrase "he doesn't have what it takes" from the powers that still want to be. But Morales proved and continues to prove he is the real deal for his Bolivian brothers and sisters.

It has a nice ring to it, doesn't it?

I will forever remember November 4th, 2008 as a day the world observed in unison and as one, for a new direction for human progress. The hope U.S. citizens put into making sure there was not another 4 years of the same America, the world has come to know, was one of the most amazing actions committed by this country. Long voting lines, hours of waiting, reports of uncalibrated voting machines... it was all worth it. It is a true testament of the human spirit to look beyond the stagnant line of petty indifference and for a future that is beneficial for all.

John McCain's concession speech should not go unnoticed. He spoke eloquently. He pointed out to his supporters the time has come to put aside any animosity toward the new President-elect. An honorable notion by McCain speaks volumes of his character and perhaps his campaign did not reflect the man he was. None the less, the American people wanted a young, fresh face for their America. The America of the 21st century.

I congratulate Mr. Obama on one of, if not, the greatest human achievement. In not only becoming the President of the United States, but in bringing together the view of a world hungry for a better, more compassionate one.

It truly does have a nice ring to it...

Geothermal Energy: The Energy of All Renewable Energies

Last night, I stumbled upon a great article in the L.A. Times about Geothermal Energy. This was quite a surprise since it is a renewable, clean energy that should have been harnessed a while ago and people are talking about it now. In the article, it is clear that many are unaware of geothermal energy (except of course if you are Google or Warren Buffet). It, in a nutshell, is a heat/steam-based source that is generated at the Earth's core. It is seemingly unlimited and the only thing that it needs to produce electricity is water. The commitments to funding this energy source were renewed when high oil prices in the U.S. and the world were experienced the last year or so. It's remarkable that it takes an economic crisis to transition our mindset on what is good for all. Clearly, geothermal energy is a natural resource that can benefit the world and no one needs to suffer financial repercussions to have it. It's make logical sense. However the "powers that be" see it otherwise.

This was a topic also discussed in the Zeitgeist: Addendum online film. Thanks to the few who commented on that post. Although the responses came off negatively, it was encouraging to read your comments. I still will give the benefit of the doubt to those who look more positively at the Venus Project. Yes, "it is too good to be true" but at least it is a step towards a higher path. All one has to do is talk about it and see its potential as a better option for human civilization.

The meme that is altruism in all peoples will prevail, without the aid of the Rapture, Jesus Christ, Allah, Yahweh or any other religious icon or scenario. There is good in all people. There just needs to be critical thinking, understanding and an open mind for enlightenment.

What Americans Don't Know: At War with Iran

It's unfortunate that a lot of the attention in the U.S. is on the 2008 election and the economy. And rightfully so. However, many Americans are not aware of the proxy war going on with Iran on the border of Iran and Iraq. The video below is an important one (if you don't see it click here). Local Works Exhibit and a Jersey City show

The Lie That Is Columbus Day

It is one of the most over-celebrated and over-rated "holiday" events of the year. It represents dominance, genocide, greed and complete disregard of a people who had done no wrong and only offered their hospitality.

I'm currently reading "A People's History of the United States: 1492 - Present" by Howard Zinn. Zinn goes into extreme detail of the debauchery Columbus administers to find gold and claim territory in the name of God. This should be an American textbook for grammar and high schools. It can change adolescent thinking, teach humility, offer appreciation and expand the base of young smart students in America.

Watch these videos to have a better understanding of the Columbus Myth. It will be less than 10 minutes.

Local Works exhibit, October 17th

The opening reception for an art exhibit featuring works by Will Saurez and I is scheduled for Friday, October 17th. There will be a $5 suggested donation for the musical performers. Looking at the art is free, of course.

It is clear who will be the new president of the U.S. Unless, there is another voting fraud days before the election...

I'm not much of a political pundit and I will not claim to be, however, I am a concerned citizen of the country I was born in. I decided to write an email to Senator Obama in regards to his change for America. It was short and brief but I wanted to point out that his sincerity is genuine and his emphasis on a new energy direction is very important. Warnings and suggestions were given. I could of added more but thought it best to tell what was important to me.

I commend you, Mr. Barack Obama, for having sincerity for the American People. I honestly believe your intentions hold true when you say you'll do what you can to make the playing field level for all working Americans. Change is eminent in America, that is understood. However, I regretfully feel your corporate sponsors and lobbyists who support your campaign will not be happy with this intention. A change in "their" system will not work as it does not benefit their simple minds but their deep pockets instead. A sad, but true reality. You will be at war with your own peers.

Restrictions on clean alternative resources such as solar, wind, tidal and wave are immoral to withhold from humanity as a whole. Energy is inherent to all human beings without a value attached to it. These energies are clean and abundant and can provide for all and last forever. They should not be privatized. You should make that clear in your energy plan. It would be fit to alleviate the pressures of a monetary system that does not work anyway.

Mr. Obama, you are not a foolish man. You know war is not a solution to any of America's problems. Oil is a thing of the past, as are U.S foreign policies, and is clearly a destructive force not only to our environment but to the human psyche as well. Bring American troops home. Increase budgets in education, space and energy technologies. You know it is the right thing to do. War has solved nothing and has only angered more people. This is not an age of empire.

When seeking your cabinet, be wise to choose good-hearted individuals with specializations in the key areas they are appointed to. I would suggest Ron Paul(R), Ralph Nader (I) and Chuck Baldwin (L) as individuals who seek to be chivalrous to the American peoples' interests. Intend to expand the party system as it once was. The government serves the people.

Whether Mr. Obama reads it or not is another issue. I hope that he does read it or that the message of a new energy plan must be implemented immediately.

His debate performance last night was better than "the other one's" but I would not give it a much better grade than the 1st debate. Both candidates sounded like broken records talking about maintaining a broken system. Americans need to hear and see a new future.
As a progressively-thinking American, issues such as geothermal energy, corporate-controlled government cleansing and the redesign and rebuilding of a new American culture are essential for a world in the 21st century.

The human conscious is in crisis.
