Assume that there is no newline at the end of each chunk’s output i.e. you get one word combining the three outputs.

——————————
“java”

Day 2

Fill in the crossword with 8 words (4 across and 4 down).
The clues for each of them are in the form of regular expressions i.e. find a word which would match the regular expression.
Check out http://perldoc.perl.org/perlretut.html for a very detailed tutorial on regex.
All the words make sense – maybe proper nouns too.

Day 3

FIND THE OUTPUT:
Assume all required declarations/surrounding blocks are present.
The section of code is assumed to pass compilation.

——————————
#include <stdio.h>
int main()
{
char p[] = “MIRESKONEK”;
char test[] = “JOKER”;
int a = 5;
if(test[4]=’r'){
printf(“%c%c”,p[a++],p[a+3]);

Questions from a weekly tech quiz i have been doing…(Answers Updated at the bottom)

1. Which is the website whose snapshot is shown below?

2. Check out this Samsung Galaxy S3 ad at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qGfV6uh3kTs.
Between the 10th to the 12th second, a new feature is shown. This feature can work using either of 2 technologies. Name both of them. One of them is a 3 letter acronym.

3. I recently modified my car so that i can drive/fly over to the moon. Previously, my car’s top speed was 140 km/hr. What is the minimum top speed to which i should tune my car so that i can escape the earth’s atmosphere?

4. Identify the gadget which is shown in this image.

5. The three images below can be suffixed by one word which will then stand for the “bad guys”, “ok guys – not always bad”, “good guys”.
What is this one word?

6. Given below is a QR (Quick Response) code, a code now being favoured over traditional bar codes because of the larger storage capacity. I have encoded something in the code below. If you have a smartphone, all you need is an APP to decode it. For souls (like me) who are yet to become smarter by moving to smart phones, there are ways to do it on the internet too! Find the message hidden.

7. Imagine you are at a football stadium for a match between Italy and Spain. There are more than a 100,000 people at the stadium. Now do the math for the number of people who will be taking photos, videos of themselves at the stadium or the action on the field and uploading them on various social networks. Now, this puts a lot of strain on the mobile networks in the vicinity to the extent that it can even crash the network. Some companies like Verizon then use COWs to accommodate the extra demand. What does the acronym “COWs” stand for?

8. Given below is the first logo of a company (strange for a logo, though!). Name the company and the individual shown on the logo.

9. She is not a model, but has the looks of one. She is just 37 and has been appointed the CEO of a big corporation. Who is she?

10. What is the name given to the technology which uses pixel oversampling techniques to shoot images at very high resolutions and then reduce them to smaller resolutions thus achieving a much higher picture definition than normally possible? Clue: Nokia 41 MP smartphone.

Answers:
1. Pinterest.com
2.
3. Escape Velocity of 11.2 km/s
4. Nintendo Wii
5. Black Hat, Grey Hat an White Hat Hackers!
6. “Where do you want to go today”. You could have used a QR code reader on your smart phone or uploaded the image to any of the many QR code decoders.

I recently conducted a quiz at work. It was a general quiz, but not in the usual format. it was done in the format of the IPL cricket auctions. See the screen below.

Every team was given a budget of 10000 INR. The questions were grouped into categories such as Uncapped, batsman, foreigners etc. Each of the categories had a base price , marked within brackets in the header of the category e.g. a bowler question’s base price is 100. Now, teams were shown the question and then had to bid for it. The “runs” that they score if they got the question right are the numbers printed on the buttons. So, the teams have to manage their bidding based on their knowledge of the answer, the number of runs a question would fetch them and the amount of money they have. Also, if a team gave a wrong answer, they got negative runs, equal to the number printed on the square.

The quizzing was interesting with teams fighting it our for questions they were confident about and some teams bluffing knowledge of the question so as to increase the money spent by the other teams. Given below are some of the questions used.
