It was a general quiz, but not in the usual format. it was done in the format of the IPL cricket auctions. See the screen below.

Every team was given a budget of 10000 INR. The questions were grouped into categories such as Uncapped, batsman, foreigners etc. Each of the categories had a base price , marked within brackets in the header of the category e.g. a bowler question’s base price is 100. Now, teams were shown the question and then had to bid for it. The “runs” that they score if they got the question right are the numbers printed on the buttons. So, the teams have to manage their bidding based on their knowledge of the answer, the number of runs a question would fetch them and the amount of money they have. Also, if a team gave a wrong answer, they got negative runs, equal to the number printed on the square.

Yes, they are fun and give immense satisfaction when you complete one, but it is the same thought process which goes into each and every one of them. I have always liked the non-traditional ones be it the word based ones or the mathematical ones or don’t-know-what-to-call-them ones.

With this in mind, I have started @Twuzzles, Puzzles on Twitter. I will post one puzzle daily. Each puzzle requires you to think in a different direction. While some may require a bit of brute force, most of them can be solved “logically”.

How do you start solving these puzzles?

Log on to your Account @twitter. If you don’t have one, get one created on Twitter.

Go to the Twuzzles Page. You should see a “follow” button on top of the page. Press that button to start “following” twuzzles. Once you do this, you would see all “Twuzzles” posts automatically on your twitter home page.

Once you solve a particular puzzle, choose the “Reply” option and you should see a window on top with “@twuzzles” automatically entered. Enter your answer and press “Tweet”.

Every day, I will give out the answer to the previous day’s puzzle as well announce the names of the first 3 correct replies. Three puzzles are already available to you to solve on Twuzzles.

Suggestions are welcome. Do spread the message or as they say “Tweet” the word around.
