For the very un-informed of you…. our very own James Quinlan was recently featured in Intent Media’s weekly magazine MCV as a part of there ‘Insiders Guide’. For those of you who haven’t seen the article, here it is….

Tell us about your company.
iQ Design was established in 2007, we are a family run business in Graphic Design and Consultancy. We are a small company looking to grow and expand in the entertainment industry. We recently designed the packaging for Wildfire Europe Ltd’s Wii Sk8 Board, which we are told is selling far beyond expectations.

What services do you offer?
Our graphic design services include, but are by no means limited to, packaging, merchandising and marketing materials. We deal with design from initial concept right through to print ready artwork. We also work with existing artwork to produce resized or alternative designs. For example we recently created new artwork for Game Outlet’s Fallout Collection, using existing artwork from the three original titles.

Tell us something we didn’t know about your company?
Our lead designer (myself) has been in the games industry for eight years, working on many top titles for Rockstar, Take Two Interactive and 2K Games.

What’s the best part about your job?
I love graphic design, especially the creative elements of it. It’s great to go to work every day and do something I enjoy and I’ve found that it is common across this industry, always meeting others who really enjoy their jobs.

What’s next for iQ?
Having recently completed artwork on over 50 titles for Game Outlet we are now looking forward to receiving further work from them on a number of new titles in the summer. We are also looking forward to the prospect of providing some creative services to Wrapstar later in the year.

Business Card: I just wanted a simple layout that was easy to read but also listed my most popular/common services provided.

Logo: Initial concepts for the logo where much more elaborate, they included hearts, stethecopes, sick pc’s and more. The final logo was originally designed as a temporary logo, but after placing it in my website I decided that a simple, uncomplicated logo was much easier on the eye and fitted better with the business card layout.
