A negative preconception is an unproductive way of viewing yourself.

Preconceptions are previously formed opinions, or ideas, you have about yourself. These preformed opinions, or biases, about who you are can influence your future feelings and actions.

The most significant way to determine whether or not you will succeed is whether your preconceptions are positive or negative.

Negative preconceptions prevent you from motivating yourself. They also prevent you from taking positive action to change your self-image.

With barriers or unpleasant situations in your way, it's extremely difficult to see clearly enough to remove the obstacles. When barriers block your growth process, your self-worth and self confidence are weakened. The opportunity to relate to, work with, or be acknowledged by others is diminished. Negative preconceptions are counter productive, self-punishing, and unhelpful.

With barriers or unpleasant situations in your way, it’s extremely difficult to see clearly enough to remove the obstacles. When barriers block your growth process, your self-worth and self confidence are weakened. The opportunity to relate to, work with, or be acknowledged by others is diminished. Negative preconceptions are counter productive, self-punishing, and unhelpful.

Your self-worth and self-confidence are strengthened when you’re able to relate to others and be acknowledged in ways that you value and that cause you the least amount of discomfort. Once you eliminate negative preconceptions, you become aware of and begin to experience the kinds of relationships and situations that help you build your sense of self-esteem and self-confidence.

When you begin to discover situations that raise your self-worth and self-confidence, take advantage of those situations. Instead of saying to yourself, “What does it really matter,” believe that you have control of changing your life and say, “I’m going for it,” “I feel so optimistic that every situation is an exciting challenge,” “I’m unstoppable.” Change your negative vocabulary and self-talk into positive vocabulary and self-talk on a continual basis.

Identifying statements that create negative emotions (i.e., anxiety, fear, and insecurity) and statements that create positive emotions (i.e., excitement, joy, and challenge) affords you the opportunity to change your statements to create positive emotional and mental states. Ultimately, this will change how you act toward others.

Involve yourself in healthy, optimistic situations that generate positive outcomes and help you overcome fears. Fears are inner barriers, or roadblocks, that can be removed by changing negative thoughts into positive ones to create positive action.

Fears are fueled by a poor or negative self-image. Fear of making decisions, helplessness, fear of rejection, fear of failure, fear of your own greatness, and fear of your own talents are all behaviors, or conditions, that prevent you from changing.

When you fear failure, your motivation is to avoid failure rather than to achieve or seek success. You can fear your best as well as your worst. These barriers will also prevent you from exerting yourself, not because you can’t perform, but because you fear you can’t perform well.

—————————————————————–

Suppose you are in a new situation. To cope with that situation, you become more sensitive and alert. Doesn't that sound great? The very thing we need to do our best in a new situation!

Well, it's precisely what does happen each time we enter a new situation. Most of the time, however, we call it "fear" and we don't like it.

Contrary to popular belief, our parents didn't teach us to feel fear. Our parents did teach us to use fear as a reason not to do something and they did this from love. A child cannot logically determine if its physical well being was or was not endangered when attempting each new activity.

Unfortunately, at the age of eighteen or so, when we do know the difference between that which is truly dangerous and that which is merely new and untried, no one draws us aside and says, "That fear you've been using as a reason not to do things - it's really part of the energy to get things done."

Suppose you are in a new situation. To cope with that situation, you become more sensitive and alert. Doesn’t that sound great? The very thing we need to do our best in a new situation!

Well, it’s precisely what does happen each time we enter a new situation. Most of the time, however, we call it “fear” and we don’t like it.

Contrary to popular belief, our parents didn’t teach us to feel fear. Our parents did teach us to use fear as a reason not to do something and they did this from love. A child cannot logically determine if its physical well being was or was not endangered when attempting each new activity.

Unfortunately, at the age of eighteen or so, when we do know the difference between that which is truly dangerous and that which is merely new and untried, no one draws us aside and says, “That fear you’ve been using as a reason not to do things – it’s really part of the energy to get things done.”

The first thing we need when entering a new situation (be it physically, or in our imagination) is more energy.

A new situation, by definition, will be different, and extra energy will help us meet the challenges of whatever “different” may offer. When we feel fear, our body releases into the blood stream adrenaline, glucose and other energy-producing chemicals. This physical energy is available to support our thoughts and actions.

In a new situation, naturally we want all the information we can get. This is when the sharpened senses, sensitivity and heightened awareness associated with fear are useful – they help us absorb and more quickly process the new information.

Another aspect of fear is letting go of irrelevancies. We automatically focus on what’s most important, “and let the rest of the world go by.” When in a new situation, we want to focus on what’s in front of us, what’s central, what’s significant. Fear drives thoughts about whether the grapefruit will be on sale or not right out of our awareness.

Part of doing our best in a new situation involves learning. There is so much to learn from a new experience – so much to learn about the experience and, more importantly, so much to learn about ourselves.

Fear provides a good environment for learning – not an ideal environment (fear is not known for its abundance of patience) – but a good environment nonetheless. The energy, clarity of mind and ability to focus are excellent tools for learning.

Have you ever felt like fear was preventing you from reaching your full potential in life?

If so, you are certainly not alone because fear is one of the biggest obstacles that many people face when trying to create better life circumstances.

Below are the 5 most common ways that fear can hold you back:

1. Fear can prevent you from making positive changes.

Sometimes fear can make even the smallest changes seem extremely uncomfortable. For example, you may be deeply dissatisfied with your job, but feel nervous or uncertain about finding and applying for a better one. Or you may have always dreamed of buying your own home but worry that the responsibility would be too much to handle.

2. Fear can prevent you from breaking destructive habits.

We all know that smoking, poor dietary choices, excessive alcohol and a sedentary lifestyle are a recipe for health problems, but we often gravitate toward these habits because they help numb our anxious or fearful feelings. If you have ever tried to break a bad habit like this, you know how stressful it can be because suddenly you are filled with anxiety and you don’t know how to handle it except to run back to your “pacifiers” – the very habits you are trying to break.

3. Fear can prevent you from taking risks.

Many of us shy away from risk because we fear negative consequences. For example, you may hesitate to invest your money because you fear losing it, or avoid starting a new relationship because you were so hurt by the last one. What most of us fail to realize is that risk can also bring great rewards. Avoiding risk may help us avoid negative possibilities but we also miss the excitement and joy that come from positive outcomes.

4. Fear can prevent you from pursuing your goals.

Have you ever dreamed of doing something great but were never able to push yourself to do it? Perhaps you dreamed of being a stand-up comedian but dreaded the thought of public speaking, or you desperately wanted to be a bestselling author but were too afraid to pen that novel lurking inside of you.

5. Fear can prevent you from expanding your life.

Social anxiety is another common way that fear can limit your potential. It may prevent you from attending networking functions so your career or business can’t grow properly, or you may avoid taking that much needed vacation to relax and explore other cultures because you fear flying or being on a cruise ship.

How to Stop Fear from Limiting Your Potential?

It’s important to note that all of these fears are most often groundless. They are merely a perception that things “could” go wrong – but that doesn’t mean they will.

Rather than trying to force your way through the fear, you may find it easier to explore the many ways that fear can be effectively released from your mind, emotions, and body. When you know how to release the fear, you simply handle it as you would any minor obstacle and then continue on your way to creating the best life you possibly can.

—————————————————————–

There are always invisible roadblocks holding us back in life. Here is an interesting aritcle by Bob Cox talks about these invisible success barriers. He calls them “Elephant Tethers.”

What Is Your “Elephant Tether”?
By Bob Cox

Did you know that elephants are trained to stay where they are by tying a rope around one of their massive legs and attaching it to a peg in the ground? Can the peg and rope really hold back an elephant? Absolutely not!

Then why does it work? Because elephants grow up believing it will. Maybe they tried pulling away when they were young with no success. Maybe they were injured by their action. After enough failures, they stop trying. They no longer test the restraint, and confine themselves when tethered to the rope.

During the course of my life and career I have run into many people (and no doubt will run into many more) who are holding themselves captive with their own “elephant tether.”

Cheryl, for example, one of my co-workers years ago, was limiting herself and her goals by always seeking approval from her mother before taking action. Cheryl was a grown woman with a husband, two children, and a nice career. However, she felt the need to filter every decision through her mother. She was still trying to play by her mother’s rules – instead of making her own.

I don’t think Cheryl realized her mother was the peg and rope preventing her from pursuing her own idea of a happy, fulfilling life. I mean, so what if Mom doesn’t approve of your kids eating hot dogs or staying up past 8:00 p.m. on a school night?

But following guidelines set by your parents isn’t the only “elephant tether” that could be keeping you from achieving what you want out of life. Maybe it’s one of these:

1. The Reactive Tether

The hustle and bustle of “normal” life often sets up the reactive tether. Your in-laws announce an unexpected visit, so you immediately change your plans to accommodate them. Your co-worker calls in sick on the day of an important client presentation, so you call the client and cancel. Whenever you notice that your car is down to a quarter tank of gas, you can’t concentrate on anything else until you get it filled.

These are just a few examples of situations that can make you fall victim to the reactive tether.

By panicking instead of taking control, you are sabotaging yourself. Is this a good time for the in-laws to visit? If it is not, simply tell them – and offer alternate dates. If your co-worker called in sick, decide whether you’d rather reschedule the presentation or handle it yourself. And if you’re always worried about running out of gas, all you have to do is implement a new routine of never letting the gas gauge go below half a tank.

2. The Full Disclosure Tether

It amazes me how often people feel they need to explain, in great detail, why they can’t do something or be somewhere. In both business and social environments, the person requesting an answer to an “Are you available?” question is really only looking for a Yes or No. If you give them more than that, what you’re really doing is making excuses to yourself.

The best response is either “Yes, count me in” or “No, I have a conflict.” And then go silent. If you can’t make it, the other person will likely suggest an alternate date and time … and everyone moves on.

3. The Shyness Tether

Business seems to be the one place where shy people can just as easily shake or shine. Many shy people (and we all have our shy moments) thrive in the business world because it gives them a “role” to play. As long as they are acting “on behalf of” or in the best interests of the company, they find the strength to do great things.

If the shyness tether is inhibiting your success, you can learn to push that discomfort aside. One way is to give yourself a mental cue – such as “It’s showtime!” – to legitimize the bold action you know you should be taking.

Test this self-imposed barrier. You might surprise yourself. Don’t retreat from any opportunity to discuss team projects or hold yourself back from networking at company events.

The power of “elephant tethers” to restrain you is only in your imagination. YOU have the power to free yourself from them to enjoy life and achieve your goals.

Of course, there will always be boundaries and rules that have to be followed. Judicial laws aside … most of the others are just guidelines. I mean, think about it. Is there a rule against singing too loud in church? Not really. Your spouse may nudge you to tone it down, but it is unlikely that you will be asked to leave.

Don’t get me wrong. I am actually a big follow-the-rules guy. Why? Because I like structure in my life, and most rules are those I would choose to follow anyway. Yet I don’t accept the notion that I have to follow all rules all the time.

Examine your life for self-imposed “rules” you are following that are holding you back. Test them. Think how to break free of them. Create better rules to live by and see your progress grow.

Hope you like it and be inspired to find your own freedom to move forward.

Daniel

You know you’re gifted, because you get noticed. You’ve been offered a lot of chances, and the people who’ve offered them weren’t wrong. They saw what you were capable of. Yet whenever you get near what you want, something happens - you lose focus at a crucial moment and turn your energy to something unimportant, or your mood mysteriously drops and you get tired just when you need energy the most.

You’ve got to find out what that something is, because what you don’t know is hurting you. Take a careful look at your life and you’ll probably see a history of missed opportunities that stretches all the way back to your childhood.

Your past won’t determine your future if you can find out why you have such an odd relationship with success.

Here are three ways to overcome fear of success...

Do you fear success?

Most people don’t have to fear success, because they don’t understand it.

They don’t appreciate how painful it is for you to keep dropping the ball just when you were about to carry it across the line. They don’t understand why someone with your abilities keeps messing up terrific opportunities. It’s a mystery to you too.

You know you’re gifted, because you get noticed. You’ve been offered a lot of chances, and the people who’ve offered them weren’t wrong. They saw what you were capable of. Yet whenever you get near what you want, something happens – you lose focus at a crucial moment and turn your energy to something unimportant, or your mood mysteriously drops and you get tired just when you need energy the most.

You’ve got to find out what that something is, because what you don’t know is hurting you. Take a careful look at your life and you’ll probably see a history of missed opportunities that stretches all the way back to your childhood.

Your past won’t determine your future if you can find out why you have such an odd relationship with success.

Here are Three Ways to Overcome Fear of Success:

1. Continually tell yourself that you welcome challenges. Stand ready and willing to challenge yourself to your maximum capacity. Move forward in your communication by deleting all negative self-talk.

2. Believe that whatever you set out to accomplish, you will give it one-hundred percent. Stop providing excuses to blame yourself, becoming disempowered from achieving your goals and increasing your self-esteem. Believe that your “pride of accomplishment” motivates you to eliminate all the “shoulds,” “oughts,” and “musts,” from your vocabulary.

3. Be the best you can. Continually “see” yourself in an evolving way. Stretch every mental, emotional, and physical fiber within you. Believe and feel that you are one dynamite, ecstatic, and powerful person. Remember, your beliefs impact the way you feel and act.

Another month has passed and life continues to grow towards what you want or the other way round.

Did you set a goal early this year? Well, did you get what you want by now – after so many months of working hard for it? Apparently, most people don’t and that’s the problem with setting goals.

We cannot be setting goals with the intention of trying to get what we want because that will become a chasing game which will wear you out. Maybe not for you, but I know I will when I’m chasing ’something’. The goal must be a part of us. My goal is to become who I want and where I want to be mentally and physically.

Your goals must be something that you achieve internally so that you can see it, taste it, smell it and feel it.

Wealth. Love. Connection. Knowledge. Experience.

If you were to evaluate what’s success, it boils down to being happy.

I’m not trying to play Zen Master here but to make a point how we make our lives complicated without understanding the true purpose of our action. Life doesn’t have to be that way.

There are a few things I’ve learned from observations and experiencing this year and I’m glad to share them with you today. Who knows, they may give you a shortcut for your journey to obtain the success you’re seeking…

i. Your mind attracts what you want. This year, I have my fair share of enjoying successes and experiencing setbacks in life. And when I sit back to think about it, they come in ’sequences’. Once I’ve gained success, I’ll have the momentum to get another one. When I failed and stay in that state, another failure will come again. I don’t know, some called it Law of Attraction. To me, I strongly believe that you get what you want based on what your mind thinks because it ‘attracts’.

ii. There’s one time Grandma falls sick and stayed in the hospital for couple of days. When I visited her in the hospital, I felt blessed that she’s still in this beautiful world. Although it’s nothing serious, but my heart tells me one thing- nothing in this world will give me the same love and relationship I have with her.

There are only two factors that will remove your love and relationship with someone you care about- when he/she is no longer here or you have ignored the treasure you have today for something that is less valuable but perceived to be valuable. Let me warn you– once they’re gone, they’re gone. You should know who to call, hug or kiss by now.

iii. Know your roots. If you’re successful today, you’re probably once a ‘nobody’. Always be humble because it will give you more success in life. I mean, isn’t that how you got to where you are today? Knowing your roots also means remembering those who have supported you when you’re growing and stayed by your side through thin and thickness. They are just there because they want to be there for you with no other hidden expectations.

iv. Explore life like there’s no ending. Listen to new music. Visit new places. Eat at new restaurants. Play new sports. Meet new people. And an endless list of things you can do regardless of whether you’re wealthy or not. You see, money doesn’t stop you from exploring life. Obviously, you can’t do the many things that Bill Gates or Richard Branson can do but there are easily hundreds of things you can do with what you have today. Do you know why we live? I don’t have the answer but I’m 100% sure it’s not to work and whine about what we don’t have.

v. Life is great. As I’m writing this, I’m in my new condominium with nice yellow lightings, listening to a wonderful music and my wife is making a cup of coffee for me. I can feel the cool breeze coming in from the balcony while sitting on a soft brand new, purple sofa. In front of me, I can see a mirror- and when I looked deep; I thank God for giving me this amazing life. Not because my Ego’s saying I have an amazing life, but it’s really true.

You have an amazing life whether you want to admit it or not. There are people sleeping on the streets today, wandering to look for food and so on. Because you’re reading this, I dare to assume that you have a computer- which also means that you’re under a roof and are an educated person. You have eyes to read and a wonderful brain to think. For that, life is already great. The rest are bonuses.

Some might complain about being financially broke. You can be broke but you can never be poor because being broke is a temporarily state that can be changed. It might not be now but with sheer persistence and effort combined with using the right information and a willingness to take action, it’s just a matter of time before you look back satisfied and said, “I was once broke but now, I’m wealthy and living the life I’ve always wanted.” Does that sound good? Then, why not make it a reality because you can.

—————————————————-

A business man once told me that since practicing visualization and forming the habit of devoting a few minutes each day to thinking about his work as he desired it to be in a large, broad way, his business had more than doubled in six months.

His method was to go into a room every morning before breakfast and take a mental inventory of his business as he had left it the evening before, and then enlarge upon it.

He said he expanded and expanded in this way until his affairs were in remarkably successful condition.

He would see himself in his office doing everything that he wanted done.

His occupation required him to meet many strangers every day. In his mental picture he saw himself meeting these people, understanding their needs and supplying them in just the way they wished.

This habit, he said, had strengthened and steadied his will in an almost inconceivable manner.

Furthermore, by thus mentally seeing things as he wished them to be, he had acquired the confident feeling that a certain creative power was exercising itself, for him and through him, for the purpose of improving his little world.

In “Your Invisible Wealth”, you’ll learn how to put this ‘visualization process’ on steroids and finally get all that your heart desires.

I highly recommend you download it now if you haven’t already done so.

Every human being who reaches the age of understanding of the purpose of money, wishes for it.

Wishing will not bring riches.

But desiring riches with a state of mind that becomes an obsession, then planning definite ways and means to acquire riches, and backing those plans with persistence which does not recognize failure, will bring riches.

Invisible Wealth Secret - Understand the keys to success

The method by which DESIRE for riches can be transmuted into its financial equivalent, consists of six definite, practical steps, viz:

1. Fix in your mind the exact amount of money you desire. It is not sufficient merely to say “I want plenty of money.” Be definite as to the amount. (There is a psychological reason for definiteness which will be described in a subsequent chapter).

2. Determine exactly what you intend to give in return for the money you desire. (There is no such reality as “something for nothing”.)

3. Establish a definite date when you intend to possess the money you desire.

4. Create a definite plan for carrying out your desire, and begin at once, whether you are ready or not, to put this plan into action.

5. Write out a clear, concise statement of the amount of money you intend to acquire, name the time limit for its acquisition, state what you intend to give in return for the money, and describe clearly the plan through which you intend to accumulate it.

6. Read your written statement aloud, twice daily, once just before retiring at night, and once after arising in the morning. AS YOU READ – SEE AND FEEL AND BELIEVE YOURSELF ALREADY IN POSSESSION OF THE MONEY.

It is important that you follow the instructions described in these six steps. It is especially important that you observe, and follow the instructions in the sixth paragraph.

You may complain that it is impossible for you to “see yourself in possession of money” before you actually have it.

Here is where a BURNING DESIRE will come to your aid.

If you truly DESIRE money so keenly that your desire is an obsession, you will have no difficulty in convincing yourself that you will acquire it.

The object is to want money, and to become so determined to have it that you CONVINCE yourself you will have it.

Only those who become “money conscious” ever accumulate great riches.

“Money consciousness” means that the mind has become so thoroughly saturated with the DESIRE for money, that one can see one’s self already in possession of it.

To the uninitiated, who has not been schooled in the working principles of the human mind, these instructions may appear impractical.

It may be helpful, to all who fail to recognize the soundness of the six steps, to know that the information they convey, was received from Andrew
Carnegie, who began as an ordinary laborer in the steel mills, but managed, despite his humble beginning, to make these principles yield him a fortune of considerably more than one hundred million dollars.

It may be of further help to know that the six steps here recommended were carefully scrutinized by the late Thomas A. Edison, who placed his stamp of approval upon them as being, not only the steps essential for the accumulation of money, but necessary for the attainment of any definite goal.

The steps call for no “hard labor.”

They call for no sacrifice.

They do not require one to become ridiculous, or credulous.

To apply them calls for no great amount of education.

But the successful application of these six steps does call for sufficient imagination to enable one to see, and to understand, that accumulation of money cannot be left to chance, good fortune, and luck.

One must realize that all who have accumulated great fortunes, first did a certain amount of dreaming, hoping, wishing, DESIRING, and PLANNING before they acquired money.

If you do not see great riches in your imagination, you will never see them in your bank balance.

Goals are what keep you going and give you focus. Success goal setting is an ongoing, reciprocal process between you and the world. There are 7 steps to focus on your goals and plan your success.

A plan is a powerful tool for achievement. It's a magic key that unlocks your mind and helps you achieve your goals...

Goals are what keeps you going and makes you focus. Let them be the stepping-stones towards your success. It is important to understand that your ability to keep moving after accomplishing one goal depends on how clearly you see the next step to set new goals.

Successful goal setting is an ongoing and interactive process between you and the world. It is not a routine work. Goal setting generates out of your own need for achievement and the self-drive for achievement is natural. When you set goal, it motivates you physically, mentally and emotionally. Achieving your goals helps to get rid of your own fears and sustain your self-confidence. You begin to feel more associated to yourself and the world.

There are 7 steps to focus on your goals and plan your success. It is important to include them in your goal setting process.

1. Identify your goal. Make it a realistic goal and important to you. This is one of the most essential things you need to do for yourself. The goal that you choose to work on must be within your ability to achieve it and be able to lock into your mind.

2. Well-defined goals with a time frame. You will not know whether you have accomplished your goals or not if you do not define exactly what they are and set a time frame. Always focus on what you want, and not on what you don’t want.

3. Make sure goal setting is specific. For example, choose a skill like “Managing your time more efficiently by stating a time and date for getting your goal accomplished.” Selecting a goal you can do something about gives you the power and influence to actively and assertively accomplish your goal.

4. Set goals that are exciting and meaningful to you. This way, you will be self-motivated to achieve them.

5. Act upon your goals. There is no sense in having a goal if you do not want to go after it.

6. Experience how your feelings and thoughts are pulled by your stated goals. Enjoy a sense of fulfillment whenever you take a step towards achieving your goal.

7. Reward yourself for every goal that gets completed. Remember to be consistent when rewarding yourself to give yourself a sense of achievement.

One of the most critical things for choosing a goal is that it must be important to you and start planning. A plan is a powerful tool to achieve success as it keeps you on track and gives you direction similar to a road map. Planning for success avoids unnecessary loss of focus and helps you take responsibility for your actions. Think of it as a master key that helps to unlock your mind and achieve your goals.

Success is YOURS,
