ILS - Intelligent Lectern Systems News Feed

Latest news from ILS - Intelligent Lectern Systems.

Intelligent Lectern Systems is building a new business in an embryonic but rapidly growing market of Audiovisual Presentation Tools, namely Intelligent Lecterns.
It is the premier source for new lecterns suited for presenting, training, teaching, events and conferences.

ILS brings together successful local designs and imports new designs to market globally, achieving scale savings that were previously impossible, presenting resellers and end-users with cost-effective solutions.

Until now system integrators have embedded small displays in wooden cabinets, focusing more on the control of the environment, than supporting the presenter.
ILS intelligent lecterns are different: they provide appliance like solutions, with small footprints, using advanced metals and structural materials.

All systems include large touch displays en come with software that really helps a presenter with his delivery; easy navigation, quick switching between presentations, etc.

Only products with an ILS prefix can be obtained from ILS directly under its Buy & Try or Rental Waiver program. For products without ILS prefix in its nomenclature, you will be guided to the nearest source.

Our products meet stringent norms with no compromise for reliability, ease-of-use and out-of-the-box functionality.

ILS lecterns work with Sho-Q software for easy PowerPoint presenting.

ILS had taken an earlier design effort of a totally new approach to lecterns to market. ILS obtained all design and production rights in June 2006, transferred these rights to ILS and dubbed it the ILS19P Presenter Lectern. A trademarked T-shape lectern, on a slim height-adjustable German made pillar with optional side tables. This lectern featured a 19” touch screen with integrated PC. ILS21, ILS15, as well as all ILS Synergy generations would follow this design in the 10 years to come.

Sho-Q v1 released: We developed 18 prototypes of our unique seamless presentation and lecturing software and proudly named it sho-Q. After thorough testing with family, friends, parents and grandparents, we decided to go with prototype #17. A first thin release was shown during our participation in the Integrated Systems Europe expo January 2007. sho-Q1, sho-Q7, sho-Q10, and sho-Q2020 followed with increasingly more productive and robust features for presenting at events as well as for effective interactive teaching.

ILS acquired all property rights to a larger lectern, with a cabinet and 19” rack inside and large side tables on each side; the SpeakersCorner lectern. This lectern was a formal development by the ETHZ in Switzerland, published in 2004. The lectern had already sold well in Switzerland and after we took over all Germany-made inventory we took this lectern all over the globe, and sold 100’s of this and newer models within the SpeakersCorner family. We shipped the first bundle of SpeakersCorner lecterns to UAE university in Al Ain. When we visited them in 2015, they were still happily in use.

We now embed an all new ILS presentation media matrix switch with CAT6 out, replacing 7 connection cables down to the bottom of the lectern, with unique loop back features for the lectern monitor to control external laptops. We also added a new audio module, designed by our Voicepoint high end audio engineers partner in Germany; and a custom made Zytronic touch glass based integrated system.
ILS announces the Synergy lectern series with Synergy-Universal lectern top

Intelligent Lectern Systems BV of the Netherlands announced the complete overhaul of its wide range of intelligent lecterns. Over the next half year 75% of the current lecterns will be redeveloped and integrated into the new Synergy lectern family.

The company developed the Synergy-Universal method that will allow conversion of one lectern into another type within a minute. This is a particular useful feature for rental companies and corporate venue support groups. Lecterns required to be presidential one moment with a nice wood or acrylic surface and become a large touch technology surface another time. This supports both the users preferring a direct presentation style as well as those keen to maximize use of interactive technology.

Synergy series Lecterns always come with the beautiful and functional lectern top that houses all standard items of a high-end lectern: shock-mounted XLR slot for a microphone, a reading light slot, laptop connectivity, control buttons and a stand for a smart phone or small tablet; optionally with internal loudspeaker array and/or 7” touch control panel.

Then, it allows to snap in – and exchange from one to the other – a wide range of table tops: wood grain, acrylic, brushed aluminum, VESA ILS HD pen and touch interactive monitors and a wide choice of touchPC’s and monitors such as WACOM and SMART with special mounting systems for DELL One 2350 and Lenovo A740 that have an adjustable stand with PC in the foot. Our current ILS21 and ILS22 solutions with integrated advanced touch and system control features will integrate into the systems as well over the course of 2015. For monitor-only solutions there is adequate space to house a small PC in the top. Use the Synergy series lectern in a “dumb”, intelligent or brilliant way as fit for the occasion! Depending on the size of the modules inserted, the support rail is remains functional even when hidden by wider surfaces.

The new Synergy series of ILS lecterns comes with a wide choice of pillars, electrical lift pillars, small and full rack cabinets to adapt to every function and different budgets. The ILS SpeakerCorner series (ILS12 – ILS18 – ILS24) will remain in the product portfolio.

For more information, contact Henk de Groot at ask@intelligentlecterns.com and watch the announcements on www.intelligentlecterns.com

Krakow Oct 8-9 2014. ILS ventured for the first time to participate in the new IMSE show in beautiful Krakow. We met virtually every AV dealer and system integrator in Poland, key architects and university and convention center clients, as well as some international resellers. ILS featured its latest lectern products: ILS27 DELL integrated lectern, equipped with DELL One 2350 in a very solid height adjustable setting, which was demonstrated with the new state-of-the-art Hovercam SOLO8.

Right a 100 Zloty banknote …. Left crisp detail of some fine print.

We brought along our ILS16 teaching lectern, to configure to your needs. The ILS11 regular height adjustable aluminum top lectern – which we showed not so regular with integrated German engineered sound: a speaker array in the top and a subwoofer in the lectern base. The all new ILS22M integrated presenter lectern with room control and keyboard under a single sheet of PCT glass made especially for us by Zytronic UK, now with our extremely responsive implementation of multi-touch. Its different sections are seen by Windows 8 as native touch screen, keyboard and touch pad HID's. CONTROL/ALT/DEL to logon is no longer an issue on our touch based system!

Furthermore from our Joint Venture Partner Haijie we brought one of the totally new high capacity classroom chargers, its new integrated wall systems for PC and audio and for a document camera to mount in lockable boxes next to your interactive whiteboard. We launched the charger's new sync feature and student tablet interface for presenting, teaching, learning and sharing interactively. We demonstrated our classroom sound field solutions from Lightspeed and several capture and wireless audio solutions from Hovercam and Wise technologies.

Amsterdam, Feb 3, 2013 - ISE Amsterdam was the biggest ever, and ILS correspondingly met up with many more of its current clients as well as hundreds of new contacts. If you have visited our booth: thank you for coming!

As announced we introduced our latest new products: the ILS27L, with 27" Lenovo tabletPC integrated into the lectern's updated shape; the new compact ILS14C (shown cordless on batteries!) and the ILS19P; a cost effective teaching lectern with solid electrical pillar base and pen interactive screen. The ILS22G with its new touch system developed in cooperation with Zytronic UK with its integrated control system again was the highlight that caught the eyes of many of our visitors.

The ILS21H, the Teacher desk and the ILS24H also made an appearance. We demonstrated the recording and streaming package cast-Q on the ILS24 side panel, and our new release of the sho-Q interactive teaching and presentations suite. The ILS16H with its newly machined top of thick aluminum was demonstrated for the first time in Amsterdam; an almost indestructible compact classroom system with built-in 19"rack.

Through our partners the show floor featured 65" Viditouch monitors, with the latest fast and accurate response technology for use in classrooms and corporate boardrooms, Lightspeed's latest portable and installed classroom sound field audio systems and Haijie's Classroom charging system for laptops and tablets. New to the portfolio of ILS lectern systems is Hovercam's attractive compact document cameras that are integrated with several lecterns as a budget alternative to the Wolfvision's cameras we often integrate. A special new design from NigelBdesign brings ILS the perfect lectern audio solution. The system uses 50 mWatt in permanent stand-by, and delivers 80 Watts of power when activated. The quarter-rack-unit sized system easily disappears into any lectern, keeping the controls easily available right from the PC.

The new system is totally modular and has flexible width arrangements. It caters for the demands of teachers and lecturers around the globe that teach with electronic means both while seated and standing up.

Here is the ILS3-22 as demonstrated during ISE12 at modest standing height. The height range of the central desk is between 74 and 116 cm. It is instrumental in good teaching that the teacher can stand and lecture while have all tools at his/her fingertips. Sitting down on a regular chair or higher stool will do fine here too!

ILS3-22 lowest and highest positions.
On the left the ILS3 desk is in between the popular ILS24 (front) and the new ILS16 in the back.

The central desk entry point ILS3-12F is without the height adjustment and allows placement of a tower PC in the left edge and vertically place 4 Rack units in the right edge, thus maximizing knee-space below the desk at almost 80 cm. The reversible monitor and on/off is by lock key. All other configurations feature electronics access control by RFID module and a touch button strip to control locks and heights.

ILS3 series central desk surface is adaptable to user needs. Users can choose from 3 monitor attachment packages. When the monitor is not in use, it is rotated upside down and locked. The surface of the desk is flush across the desk. When in use, the monitor is rotated to the comfortable slanted position for interactive pen use. However while leaning back and at the user preference, the monitor can be rotated to hold in any other comfortable viewing angle.

The 3 mounting packages allow for up to 19" 4:3 formatted monitors, for 19" wide monitors and for 24" monitors covering the likes of WACOM 2200 and SMART SP518 and SP525. On request dual monitor installation is possible, to write across 2 monitor surfaces and project on 2 projectors.

Control system: choose from popular brands or allow the default ILS 7" panel, button panel or docking station with controller/scaler switcher to be integrated. The standard electronics touch panel can already provide microphone, lighting, up/down and unlocking controls.

Optional expansion cabinets: For the user, to the left, the ILS3 series offer 2 cabinet options, 40 or 60 cm wide with place for tower PC and pull-out 19" rack behind a locked door and a lockable drawer. In the top there is a cable nook to pull out cables for e.g. notebook or visualizer use.
For the user to the right, there is an option to add a 19" rack cabinet with Lexan glass door or a smaller 19" rack with above it a lift box for a document camera. This is ideal for using e.g. a Wolfvision 9plus, it sinks into the cabinet and closes with a lockable surface. When up, the camera surface is flush with the table, the cover stays vertical to shield the audience from the light.

The 19" rack is on wheels and slides out totally from the cabinet for easy maintenance.
For audio there are microphone options using the Beyerdynamic MPR210 flat wide angle microphone to move freely along the width of the desk, a gooseneck, or an IR-based wireless sound field systems from Lightspeed technologies.

Due to the mix of cabinet placements, the ILS3 series Teacher Desks allow width of the total table to vary from 120 to 160, 180, 220 and 240 cm. Consequently we dubbed the nomenclature of the Teacher Desk family as ILS3-12, ILS3-16, ILS3-18, ILS3-22 and ILS3-24.
Cabinets can be added at a later stage when expansion is needed.

The new ILS16 and the ILS24 Intelligent lecterns fit right with the new range.
This makes the ILS3 family of Teacher Desks perfect for universities requiring a large number of the same style and functionality desks and lecterns tuned to the needs in the various classrooms, labs or lecture halls with larger or smaller space requirements and fewer or more integrated functions.

The ILS Teacher Desks are produced in the Netherlands.

Volume prices ex Works Netherlands start at 2000 euro for ILS3-12F with pen-interactive 19" monitor and room control system that includes line doubling and 6 source switching, IR, relays and digital IO.

Targeting universities, hotels and Pro-AV system integrators.

Adding custom configurability for system integrators, the ILS24HX holds inside the system a 22" pen or touch display, a 12" touch panel for systems control, confidence monitor or teleprompter, a 5" panel area for integrating existing room control systems. The system is like a Swiss army knife, pull out what you need, close and lock the system totally, using identity card reader for secure access. The electrical lift and tilt mechanism allows users to find the best position; a 12U, 19" rack offers space for AV and PC equipment for presenting and streaming solutions. A special side drawer and the rotating 12" panel allow for seated use and ADA compliance. Similar features apply to the new slender version ILS16HX, with a 17" WACOM pen interactive monitor and same 12" side touch panel.

Despite high quality design and thick aluminum cladding, the systems are aggressively priced. System integrators have the opportunity to add a lot of value and move products frequently into universities and hotel meeting facilities.

The new HF versions are all-in-one complete turn-key solutions that large universities, meeting and training facility management easily implement themselves. HF versions come with interactive monitors, complete control systems and high quality audio integrated. ILS Room-Q supports remote assistance, management and streaming applications.

ILS releases software updates for its special presenter lectern system ILS22.

ILS releases software moving from 1.0 to 2.0 for ILSTranslator, improving speed and adding functionality and adding IP services to ILS22 Remote-Q. The required macros and .NET framework are now built into the software.

What is new in ILStranslator 2.0:

System startup is faster and can be adapted via the ILS22Setup wizard.

The system can be adapted to use an external PC instead of the standard embedded PC.

In addition to control over a RS232 connection, the system can now also be controlled over a TCP/IP connection by the Remote-Q version 2.0 presentation and control software.

Attached intelligent controllers can change the pedestal elevation over RS232 and TCP/IP, as well as other system and room control functions.

ILS22Setup version 2.0 (the accompanying software system setup wizard) allows VAR's, ICT and A/V personnel to adapt the system environment, including RS232 and TCP/IP support.

Henk de Groot, CEO of ILS says: "We are proud to introduce our new Remote-Q software package. It complements our Sho-Q software, and it will allow you to streamline your event by setting up the presentations and allocated time-slots in advance. It will also let you control every aspect of the ILS22 and sho-Q remotely".

Remote-Q is an incredible tool that helps the ICT and A/V support personnel 'behind the podium'. Remote-Q provides support personnel with instant updates of what the presenter sees, and allows them to assist the presenter remotely and unobtrusively, without having to step/walk down to the lectern. Interaction is via RS232
or LAN (Wired or WiFi TCP/IP).

Remote-Q is licensed software and runs on any PC with Windows 2000, XP, Vista or Windows7.

Remote-Q features include:

Monitor the ILS22 status. ICT and A/V Presentation Support personnel see:

what the current state of the ILS22 is (with respect to available and enabled buttons,
audio volume, presentation slide nr, pedestal height etc).

Which functions are performed locally or externally.

Which button was pressed by the presenter.

Which messages were returned by attached intelligent controllers.

ICT and A/V Presentation support personnel can exercise control remotely over the following features:

Advance Slides on presenter request, forward or back.

Exit the current presentation back to the presentation selection screen and logo screen or blank screen to the projector.

Adjust pedestal height for the next presenter automatically via the Remote-Q presentation setup, or manually via the pedestal adjustment.

Get a warning when the presenter is running out of presentation time, either via the system beeper or a music file.

Send 1 or 2 automated messages to the presenter at preset % of allocated time slot. Also ad-hoc messages can be sent, becoming visible on the lectern.

Kill a process or application on the lectern, e.g. to stop the presenter, or start the ILS Sho-Q presentation software (or restart it).

Enable or disable buttons remotely so that the presenter can or can not use them. This includes (temporarily) disabling the touch screen.

Adjust ILStranslator Setup parameters, such as all enable with one Room Control touch or enable drag and drop for Annotation.

Set up a schedule for upcoming presenters, including presenter or presentation name, number of slides, presentation duration and requested pedestal height in inches or cm's. Remote-Q will automatically adjust to these parameters when the new presenter is about to go on stage.

Load, Save or Print presentation setups for handout.

All software upgrades can be downloaded from our ILS22 Drivers and Software page

ILS and HAIJIE bundle forces as global suppliers of classroom education and conference presentation systems.

Intelligent Lectern Systems of Netherlands and HAIJIE Educational Equipment Company of Hebei Province in China agreed to share their technologies, product development and production facilities.
In the agreement ILS will add to its line HAIJIE’s new HJ-Y31 classroom lectern under its ILS brand and will it implement HAIJIE’s complete classroom remote assistance and surveillance system program suite, as the ILS “room-Q” system. ILS will market these products outside China and South East Asia.

In order to jumpstart market expansion into the conference and corporate markets, HAIJIE will add from ILS the ILS21 and ILS22 presenter systems along with ILS sho-Q multiple presentations delivery and control system under its own logo for marketing in China/South East Asia.

Together the companies will develop a successor to the ILS24 SpeakersCorner lectern, to add new AV control, Audio integration and security systems in a completely lockable and remotely controllable package, while maintaining product durability, styling and quality of workmanship in the original ILS design. The companies will market the product under their own label in their respective territories.

The agreement was signed in Beijing today in the presence of Dutch minister of trade, H.E. Frank Heemskerk and Dutch Ambassador in China, Mr. Rudolf Bekink.

Henk de Groot, ILS CEO commented: “in HAIJIE we found a truly complementary partner that is thinking in similar strategic terms and that makes products exactly complementary to those of ILS. As leading producer, integrator and supplier in China of Classroom lecterns and control systems, HAIJIE is addressing the planned upgrade of 650000 (!) classrooms within the country. Their quality and scale of manufacturing allows us to respond to requests for bids in the secondary/college and university level education with an unbeatable value and completeness of the solutions ILS will be able to offer. We have decided to integrate the highest quality components available in the market and European style product finish. We can continue to guarantee the durability and reliability of our lecterns to our high-end research, university and military customers. Yet under this cooperation we will be able to potentially cut the price of the ILS24 in half”.

Qihai Zhang, HAIJIE’s Managing Director added: “HAIJIE is proud to team up with ILS and lead up to a joint venture company for future development. ILS provides us with a lot of global marketing skills, market knowledge, essential technology and access to AV channels worldwide. We can immediately integrate their presenter systems and sho-Q software to allow us to address the conference/hospitality and corporate markets that are now emerging in China. As a long time ISO9001 and ISO14001 company, we feel we can meet ILS’ quality demands effectively. Our 200 person skilled workforce in engineering, manufacturing and software development will be testimony to that. HAIJIE is ideally placed in a vibrant economic development zone with within the hour access to China’s major DOHEI and TIANJIN ports to ship goods anywhere. Our area is planned to become 12x as large within the next 10 years, securing our access to qualified labor”.

Under the agreement, ILS will adapt sho-Q to a Chinese language version and provide a license to HAIJIE to procure the ILS21 locally (this product was designed in the Netherlands and is already made in China). The remarkable ILS22 with its all touch multi function surface will remain to be manufactured in the north of the Netherlands according to mil spec and exported to China with a HAIJIE label and Chinese language labeled touch functions. ILS room-Q will include support for its ILS22. A new small AV station cabinet will be developed to complement other ILS lecterns (ILS12, ILS15, 16, 17, 19) and make them available under fully centralized remote assistance and monitoring control system. (Current ILS installations can be upgraded in future)

The new room-Q suite (Remote On-line Operation and Monitoring system) is a web based system for central AV assistance, central surveillance and alarm management, centralized administrative support, device performance tracking, status and maintenance scheduling, recording for e-learning and streaming purposes for all classrooms or business center rooms or conference meeting rooms that are supported from a distant centralized position. All assistance calls are automatically Queued and logged, any room not scheduled to be in use will trigger an alarm (locally a loud noise will set off, in the surveillance control room it pops up on the control screen for action, the camera will show what is going on instantly in that room) Central AV support can take control over the system of a classroom and have visual and audio connection established over IP automatically to help the teacher/presenter without needing to leave the desk. Depending on configuration central AV support can take over any operation of the lectern and connected systems.

The new ILS24 SpeakersCorner Lectern will be announced later in the year, but is said to include the full control system for audio, video, 3 input sources (VGA1 and VGA2 of internal PC + Notebook), has slide-out side tablets, one including a large touch monitor for room/lectern control with duplicate functions serving as confidence monitor and optionally as control system for an extern streaming studio. The central 17 or 19” height adjustable monitor will rise well above the compact lectern cabinet to provide comfortable pen or touch interaction, display options include standard 17” monitor with a separate high density writing tablet combined with touch and multi touch capabilities; it will support the SMART Sympodium ID370 with SMART Hub, WACOM PL series of 17” and 19” pen interactive tablets, and ELOtouch touch interactive monitors. The optional high spec audio system includes a cardioid gooseneck microphone, lavalier and portable wireless microphones, mixer and a 2 x 100 Watt Frequency shift low noise amplifier. When tablets and drawers are sliding in and the monitor lowered, the approx. 60 x 70 x 100 cm column is fully locked and takes little space.

The system will be available from HAIJIE in China and South East Asia and from ILS in the rest of the world.

ILS strikes distribution deal with Lightspeed Classroom Audio Technologies

ILS adds market leader Lightspeed audio products to its catalog for bundling with its smaller lecterns mini-SpeakersCorner and ILS15 all-in-one systems for classrooms, boardrooms and break-out session rooms in hotels and business centers.

After experiencing the clarity in every corner of a class room with new sound field technology, teachers and lecturers have immediately felt the benefits of the latest NXT sound field expansion based products. Contrary to ordinary loudspeaker systems or those integrated in a whiteboard, the new technology will assure that for every student in the room the audio level will be the same, front or back, as if the teacher is standing right next to you. All from a single box.

Having come up with a extremely simple to install and to use system, Lightspeed Technologies out of Oregon has rapidly emerged as the market leader in the USA with its RedCAT system. School districts have started to place Redcats by the 100's in its schools, seeing clearly increased retention, effortless hearing and elimination of throat-related absenteeism of teachers. The sound is never interrupted when facing the whiteboard.

Next to adding the professional Lightspeed audio products to its SpeakersCorner lecterns line, ILS has become exclusive distributor for Lightspeed for the Benelux.

Henk de Groot, CEO of ILS commented: "I have been carrying a RedCAT in my car since this summer. Several events I participated in where speakers decided to do without microphone, the system came to the rescue, by simply placing the box in the back of the room and handing an infrared linked mini microphone on a pendant to the speaker. This is great technology. If I were a school principle I would certainly have one available for any teacher with a sour throat, it's installed within 2 minutes and it quiets down the class instantly"

Despite many white papers and research documented, ILS embarked on a project to formally test the technology to the primary school system in all of Friesland. Research has proven that when a different language is spoken
at home than taught in school, the results of improved understanding and retention are even more dramatic.
In the foot itself you will find an auxiliary function box in which (optionally) an industrial PC can be mounted.

Due to its annotation and presenting strengths, the ILS12 combination as featured during Infocomm is a very cost-effective comfortable system suited for use in education and training markets.

The ILS12 is equipped with the Wacom 19” pen-interactive display, or alternatively with the new ELOtouch 22” APR touch display for fast touch interaction; furthermore it provides support to several other touch monitors such as the SMART Sympodium Dual Touch products.

ILS sho-Q7 is unique presentation software. It supports presenter-view slide control with a window for notes and the previous and upcoming slide, combined with a true live confidence monitor window. It allows for live annotation on existing slides, as well as on a temporary blank slide. All this on a single lectern monitor.

With one touch the user can get an overview of all the slides in a presentation, and any slide can be selected seamlessly from within multiple presentations.

Sho-Q7 is Windows 7 ready and separately available through www.intelligentlecterns.com

During Infocomm, the company also announced remote control of all features of its flagship ILS22 lectern. ILStranslator-remote lets an AV assistant control the lectern in an auditorium from a PC in the studio in the back. It can make room -, lectern- and presenter control functions available to the presenter, disable or override themFeatures like lectern height can be preset for each individual presenter with a touch of a button in the studio

A touch system upgrade for the ILS22 allows the 31” touch surface to provide drag & drop capabilities for the monitor area and its mouse pad region. Under this tempered glass surface you will find a full keyboard, as well as functional shortcuts and integrated room control buttons, which are etched in the glass around the 22”diagonal monitor area.
The total package is less than 3” thick.

Despite an overall lower visitor count during Infocomm’09, ILS experienced an increase in visitor interest by 60% compared to the previous year. The ILS22 enjoyed overwhelming interest because of its design statement and the unique combination of so many features in a single small footprint lectern solution. One client of ILS, AMX of Richardson TX, demonstrated new products using their ILS22in its Infocomm theatre.

New sho-Q 7 released. Sho-Q 7 completely eliminates the need for a confidence monitor or additional display on a lectern to read, mark or annotate PowerPoint slides.

March 3, 2009 – New sho-Q 7 released. Sho-Q 7 completely eliminates the need for a confidence monitor or additional display on a lectern to read, mark or annotate PowerPoint slides.

Cebit, Hannover, March 3, 2009.

After very enthusiastic reactions during the previews at the Integrated Systems Europe in Amsterdam, and the Eventech in Glasgow, sho-Q and ILS have launched sho-Q 7.

The companies developed this software specifically for large touch monitors, and now for the latest operating system developments from Microsoft.
Sho-Q 7 queues multiple PowerPoint presentations and in its presenter view includes not only previous/current/next slide and slide notes, but also offers a live view of what is happening on the screen behind the presenter. Presenters can now see slide transitions, animations and videos on the single lectern monitor, exactly as they occur on screen projected for the audience.

A single touch allows the live view to be enlarged to almost full screen on the monitor; this may be at a higher resolution than what is actually projected and results in great legibility and increased presenter confidence. In this mode the presenter can now use his finger or a stylus to interactively mark the data at his/her slide, and draw or write on these slides. Touch the blank screen button before going to pen mode, and the system inserts a new blank slide on which you can write. You can move back to presenter mode any time. This contributes greatly to exciting presentations and creates more retention of the messages delivered in any seminar or lecture.

“With sho-Q 7 we totally eliminate the need for a confidence monitor”, says Henk de Groot, managing director of ILS, “we wanted presenters and teachers to get the best out of PowerPoint, we even went as far as embedding Windows Media Player inside Microsoft PowerPoint to get the best control of flash animations and videos while presenting with sho-Q”.

Unfortunately the sho-Q 7 live window is not available to XP users and VISTA users that cannot switch on Aero. Sho-Q 7 is however fully ready and designed for Windows 7.

Evaluation copies can be downloaded from www.intelligentlecterns.com and www.sho-q.com .
The retail price remains EUR 499.

Prerequisites are : a large touch or pen interactive display, extended desktop capability on the PC, running AERO, and MS PowerPoint 2007 or MS Office 2007.

ILS and Darim to cooperate in developing and marketing Distance learning and eLearning solutions

July 10th, 2008 — ILS and Darim to cooperate in developing and marketing Distance learning and eLearning solutions

AMSTERDAM, July 10, 2008. Darim's innovative real time presentation streaming solution VR-Presenter will be integrated with ILS' sho-Q Presenter and Planning system and packaged as a complete solution in the ILS16 SpeakersCorner lectern. The two companies agreed this month to work on joint developments.

Where sho-Q is streamlining presentations in a seamless flow – regardless of the way the presenters choose to bring their presentations to the lectern – VRPresenter captures the presenter in real time and automatically mixes this image with the output of his/her presentation to form a single XGA data stream at full resolution.

There is no arduous posting process, the data is streamed to the net in real time and optionally recorded for later viewing in eLearning mode.

Like with sho-Q, the operation of the total streaming system is just as intuitive, and training is minimal. A few buttons will initiate the studio-session and allow for manipulation of pre-set camera views mixing the presenter with the presentation output. Transitions are seamless; it only takes one touch to have the presenter in full view, another to have the presentation in full view. Other buttons mix the two in various superpositions.

Henk de Groot, owner of Intelligent Lectern Systems: The Darim VR Presenter is incredibly advanced but very easy to use by the presenter; both our companies have the same vision, and that is to make presenting and distance learning both productive and professional, while requiring less specialist support than ever before. We will keep focus on the AV System Integrator, as where Darim keeps its focus on the broadcast market; this is a very synergetic cooperation.

The VR Presenter was featured for the first time during the INFOCOMM08 show for AV professionals in Las Vegas in June. The system was shown inside the ILS24 platform which has a full 19”rack space inside the lectern. On their booth N5754, ILS also demonstrated new ILS21 and ILS15 Presenter Lectern solutions. Sho-Q software comes with all ILS systems, it was specially written for operating multiple presentations seamlessly bringing productivity and professionalism to occasional presenters and conference organizers alike.

Further integration of the software systems is planned and the ILS16 lectern is a perfect match to offer the solution in a very attractive and robust lectern package which was designed in Switzerland.

Switch to different sources for input, import PowerPoint files, Flash animations, web pages, instructional videos and 3D graphics into the system for playback using a user- or template defined virtual 3D studio environment. Besides use in broadcast studios, lecturing, training, briefing to multiple crowds or classes, an abundance of uses is found in the best education and research institutes, car/plane/spacecraft manufacturing, banks, chemical plants, oil exploration, medical and pharmaceutical companies, government and military briefings and simulations.

Reo Kim, CEO of Darim: ILS is well positioned in the ProAV market, their lecterns are of the highest quality and durability and their Speakerscorner family has exactly the configuration that allows us to integrate our systems very well. The world-class user interfacing, studio template and leader generation capability within the sho-Q development team is a very important asset to our cooperation.

Full XGA image quality streaming has been found a must to create an effective distance learning environment where the student perceives a presence as if he/she were present in the lecture room itself. The VR Presenter system achieves this over regular internet lines at 500Kbps!

The ILS/Darim SpeakerCorner VR Presenter will speed up the changes in modern teaching environments with more professional, more effective, more productive cost-efficient solutions.

For more information:

Darim – www.darim.tv/elearning.html and watch a demo at www.darim.tv/elearning_clips.html

ILS - www.intelligentlecterns.com/ils_main/products.html and www.sho-q.com

The system will be demonstrated at the IBC in Amsterdam September 12 -16.

June 18th, 2008 — New Touch technology makes rich feature set for intelligent lecterns, inserts in any podium.

ILS has showcased its new ILS22G lectern platform during the Infocomm 2008 in Las Vegas. The new system makes use of Acoustic Pulse Recognition in multiple frames of one glass. It serves a 22” monitor field, keyboard, mouse pad, room control, source control and annotation under a single tempered glass sheet with no bezel around it. Control buttons are back-lit on demand.
The ILS22G implementation includes complete PC functionality and microphone support in a 25” x 20” x 1.5“-3” package that can be integrated in any podium, table, and cabinet or on any pedestal. The elegant pizza box style package lives up to architects and AV system integrators needs.

3 serial ports, 2 LAN ports, 10 relay switches allow easy implementation of control protocol standards. Sho-Q Presenter provides the ideal support for multiple MS PowerPoint presentations on the integrated 22” display.

ILS provides own solutions to place the system flat on the table, at a lectern style slope, on the wall next to a whiteboard, on a pedestal with electrical lift, and integrated in its ILS24G cabinet. The latter includes 4way and 2way EXTRON switching, controlled again from the glass touch surface.

Henk de Groot, owner of Intelligent Lectern Systems commented: “we already offered a very wide range of intelligent lectern solutions, but found that many lectern shapes were dictated by architectural needs. The ILS22G platform allows quick integration of complete presentation support technology into any prescribed design. It also helps building production volume so that we can dramatically cut lectern costs over time”

Featured for the first time on booth N5754, ILS also demonstrated new ILS21 and ILS15 Presenter Lectern solutions and its ILS24 platform that has a full 19” rack space inside. Sho-Q software comes with all ILS systems, it was specially written for operating multiple presentations seamlessly bringing productivity and professionalism to occasional presenters and conference organizers alike.

January 29th, 2008 - ILS introduces additional, larger SpeakersCorner podium at the ISE. Expands support for SMART Sympodium users.

In a move to satisfy popular request by the Audio Visual market, ILS announces the ILS24, a larger version of the ILS16 SpeakersCorner. This Swiss designed, German made cabinet now features a full 19” x 19” rack inside the lockable cabinet and has a VESA mount for a much wider range of monitors with tilt and height adjustment. Its marked T-shape allows for easy placement of laptops or beamers. AV systems integrators will find ample space inside to install amplifiers, streaming and multimedia equipment inside next to a PC.

Just like the ILS16 SpeakersCorner, the ILS24 comes professionally pre-wired for any PC, display and optional equipment in use such as a document camera. Also you can switch to the connectors for notebooks on the wing tablets. By implementing 2 Extron 4-way and 2-way switchers next to a KVM switch, you can now switch to different sources while the audience views the display output without interruption from the extended graphics port of the PC. The wing tablets have two height positions; the lower level was added to accommodate a visualizer more comfortably.

“ILS is the only European company in the SMART Technologies furniture catalogue”, says Henk de Groot, “The new VESA mounting capability on the ILS24 – also available on the ILS16 - allow universities, schools and corporations using SMART Sympodium equipment to install the DT770 dual touch display on our platform. New also is the ILS24D, with the capability to put two DT770’s or other displays side by side on a single tilt able plate serving 2 projectors”

During ISE, ILS also announced the capability to insert a SMART Sympodium ID370 into its popular ILS17 lectern and the availability of pedestals with electrical height adjustment and miniPC mounted between DT770 and the pedestal as a low cost alternative platform.

August 23rd, 2007 - ILS acquires ownership SpeakersCorner Lectern

ILS has completed its negotiations with Swiss owners of the rights to the SpeakersCorner Lectern in order to be able to bring the product and new derivative designs to the global market. All rights transfer to ILS. The product has been developed 2002 - 2004 at the Eidgenössische Technische Hochschule Zürich (ETHZ) and since undergone several design alterations by the Swiss firm Tribecraft and Mr. Frank Schefter in cooperation with the manufacturer BFE in Germany, to make it the most stylish and functional design the market can find for a compact electronic lectern housing.

ETHZ designed the product to satisfy its internal needs and that of many universities for a robust but compact alternative to the large tables and cabinets often in the way of good teaching. In its current form it is manufactured by BFE Studio und Medien Systeme GmbH. The default system allows integration of PC, LAN and audio amplification and mounts the SMART technologies Sympodium ID series for interactivity. It is also pre-wired for other devices and features a straightforward large KVM switch to guide output of such devices to the projection screen.

Avid users include next to the ETH Zürich, Swiss universities of Winterthur, Bern, Lausanne, and Karlsruhe and Bonn in Germany. Several major corporations are also using (owning and renting) the equipment. ILS added clients to this recently in other countries as it distributed the product under the name ILS16P.

After featuring the product during the Integrated Systems Europe Show and the Infocomm 2007 show in Los Angeles Henk de Groot, owner of ILS, commented: ”We are very glad with the ownership. Not only is the ILS16P SpeakersCorner a great product in our portfolio, it is also an essential support piece in our product development strategy. Owning the design and manufacturing rights allows us to create a 19” rack wide version and a more cost efficient modular approach to support other touch display options, such as our own future lectern modules, ELOtouch monitors and the SMART’s Sympodium Dual Touch line.

disclaimer & terms and conditions

ILS News - Februari 1st, 2007

AV-Industry embraces ILS Intelligent Lecterns during ISE 2007 in Amsterdam

ILS participated for the first time in the Integrated Systems Europe 2007 expo January 30 – February 1, with its family of Intelligent Lecterns. ILS introduced 6 different compact ready-to-go lecterns, giving customers a wide range of choice in intelligent lecterns. Reviewed by the experts in the market, the lectern systems were appreciated for their practicality and ease of use, especially with the Sho-Q presentation software and seminar planner that was announced and demonstrated on all of the lecterns. Booth visitors all had their preferences, demonstrating the need for Audio Visual Resellers to offer such a complete range of solutions.

ILS is a new activity launched to fill a major market void. ILS delivers a choice in lecterns, cost-savings, and promotes local lectern designs with efficient, appliance-like use. “We are establishing a new product category at the ISE,” says Henk de Groot of ILS. “Until now lecterns tended to be big and custom made, we will change that. In line with the AV-IT convergence, we are launching a wide range of lectern hardware and software based on industry standards. ILS offers buyers long term support, upgradeability and improved value. Efficiency of scale will make pricing more attractive.”

In industry guru Gary Kayye’s rAVe newsletter, Editor-in-chief Bob Bisschop wrote: “If you speak in public a lot, you can appreciate the collection: lecterns that automate the queuing of a series of speeches, lecterns that respond via touch screen, lecterns that rise or lower to your preferred height, lecterns that can transform into digital signage… I hope all the conference centers and hotels get the point and stop dragging out cheap veneer lecterns that can barely fit a PC…the ones that wobble and shake when you lean on them…and the ones that are draped in wires, spider dens of electrical cords.”

ILS offers a range of differently styled intelligent lecterns with functionality that meets customer needs, large size touch screens, embedded PC, pen or finger touch, Sho-Q delivery support and seminar planning systems.

Press release

ILS is a new activity launched to fill a major market void. ILS delivers a choice in lecterns, cost-savings, and promotes local lectern designs with efficient, appliance-like use.

Today, most digital lecterns are based on wooden cabinet enclosures in which computers and other AV are housed. Typically, these cabinets are used in classrooms, lecture halls, and corporate boardrooms, and occupy a lot of space. They are often created locally and have limited functionality. However several companies have provided interesting, functional and well-designed solutions, both in hardware and software, but have confined themselves to their own country or region; the lack of volume makes these products relatively expensive.

ILS aims to change this. As the first comprehensive intelligent lectern source, ILS brings together products that match our philosophy. Often this requires added features, for instance, larger touch screens, optimized for the best eye to screen distance and finger touch use: hence 19” – 24” [finger] touch screen systems are added to the customary 15” – 17” display systems for pen-driven interactivity.

Key judgment criteria are quality of manufacturing, ease-of-use, ease-of-setup, functionality, and style. The buyer selects his options: a single internal PC for all presentation data access; output methods to multiple screens; or easy hook-up of an external PC. Expansions include streaming and archiving; seamless speaker tools, and planning for events. Other choices include integrated document camera; networked content support; remote speaker support; asset management; in-room controls. An intelligent lectern provides the presenter with more information than is shown to the public: e.g. presentation flow control, previewing of notes, message prompting and time keeping.

“It is our aim to promote intelligent lecterns as appliances. Systems are fully operational out of the box and combine the best hardware and software, allowing customers to present with ease and confidence. By working closely with local AV system integrators, ILS leverages local expertise to embed lecterns into the user’s environment, from businesses to classrooms. For efficiency, we provide direct shipment to end-user clients”, says Henk de Groot, an industry veteran and MD of ILS.

"By creating a catalog of independently produced lecterns for international distribution, ILS will achieve cost-savings. Prices will not exceed those in the country the system is developed, and further savings will be passed on to the end-user and channel clients."

The ILS catalog currently includes products made in Switzerland, the Netherlands, Germany, Ireland, the USA, India and Israel; all from manufactures with excellent local reputations.

For further information contact us at +31 593 568 016, or write to info@intelligentlecterns.com

disclaimer & terms and conditions
