PMBOK에도 소개가 되어있고, 표준화 관련 책에서도 PDCA가 언급되었다.&lt;br /&gt;

그래서 이번 기회에 &lt;span style="color: rgb(255, 139, 22);"&gt;PDCA cycle&lt;/span&gt;에 대해 자세히 찾아보았다.&lt;br /&gt;
먼저 PMBOK에는 다음과 같은 내용이 나와있었다.&lt;br /&gt;

An underlying concept for the interaction among the project management&lt;br /&gt;
processes is the plan-do-check-act cycle (as defined by Shewhart and modified by&lt;br /&gt;
Deming, in the ASQ Handbook, pages 13–14, American Society for Quality,&lt;br /&gt;
1999). This cycle is linked by results – the result from one part of the cycle&lt;br /&gt;
becomes the input to another. See Figure 3-1.&lt;br /&gt;

ASQ는 미국의 유명한 품질관리단체이며, 2차 세계대전이 끝난 1946년에 17개 품질관련단체의 253명의 멤버들이 모여 설립되었다. Shewhart는 ASQ의 Founding member에 속해 있었다.&lt;br /&gt;

12manage.com은 예전에 정보화전략 수업내용과 관련하여 &lt;a title="[http://www.12manage.com/methods_venkatraman_strategic_alignment.html]로 이동합니다." target="_blank" href="http://www.12manage.com/methods_venkatraman_strategic_alignment.html"&gt;헨더슨과 벤카트라만의 Strategic Alignment Model&lt;/a&gt;에 대해 찾을 때에도 해당 내용에 대해 잘 정리되어 있어서 참고했었는데, 참 괜찮은 곳이라고 생각된다.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;a title="[http://www.12manage.com/]로 이동합니다." target="_blank" href="http://www.12manage.com/"&gt;12manage.com&lt;/a&gt;은 management dictionary라고 할 수 있다.&lt;br /&gt;
management methods를 12개 경영분야로 분류하고 있으며, 영어를 비롯하여 12개의 다른 언어로 제공하고 있으며 12개의 다른언어에는 한국어도 포함되어 있다. management에 관련한 다양한 분야의 theory, method, model 등에 대하여 잘 설명해주고 있으며 필요한 경우 적절한 도식까지도 보여준다.&lt;br /&gt;
특히 &lt;a title="[http://www.12manage.com/index_expert.html]로 이동합니다." target="_blank" href="http://www.12manage.com/index_expert.html"&gt;Expert Mode&lt;/a&gt;로 볼 경우 눈이 어질어질하다.&lt;br /&gt;

다시 본론으로 돌아가서,&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;span style="color: rgb(255, 139, 22);"&gt;Deming cycle&lt;/span&gt; 이란 지속적인 품질관리를 위한 모델이며, 지속적인 개선과 학습을 위한 4가지 반복적인 단계를 논리적인 순서로 구성한 것이다. 4가지 단계는 PLAN, DO, STUDY (CHECK) 그리고 ACT이다. 이러한 PDCA 사이클은 데밍 사이클 또는 데밍의 수레바퀴, 또는 지속적인 나선형 개선으로 알려져 있다. 데밍 사이클은 1920년대에 Plan, Do and See 개념을 도입한 저명한 통계전문가인 Walter A. Shewhart로부터 유래되었다. Deming은 Shewhart의 사이클을 Plan, Do, Study and Act로 수정하였다. 데밍의 사이클은 &lt;a title="[http://www.12manage.com/methods_kaizen.html]로 이동합니다." target="_blank" href="http://www.12manage.com/methods_kaizen.html"&gt;Kaizen&lt;/a&gt; 사고와 &lt;a title="[http://www.12manage.com/methods_jit.html]로 이동합니다." target="_blank" href="http://www.12manage.com/methods_jit.html"&gt;Just-in-time&lt;/a&gt; 생산과 관련있다.&lt;br /&gt;

이론적 근거가 없는 줄 알았던 Plan, Do and See는 Shewhart가 제시한 개념이었다.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
추가로 Shewhart에 대해 찾아본 결과,&lt;br /&gt;
PDCA cycle은 엄연히 말하자면 Deming cycle이겠지만&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
이러한 사고방식을 도표화해서 '데밍 사이클'이라고 부르는 것은 일본인데 데밍박사 자신은 품질경영의 창시자인 Shewhart박사의 사고방식이라고 해서 Shewhart cycle이라고 한다.&lt;br /&gt;
라고도 되어있다.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
뭐 이름이야 어떻게 부르던,&lt;br /&gt;
이정도면 PDS 와 PDCA의 차이점에 대한 궁금증과 PDCA cycle의 이론적 근거에 대한 내용은 해결된 것 같다.&lt;br /&gt;
