If you truly understood the nightmarish brutality of what happens inside these windowless animal jails and abattoirs that dot the American ruralscape, you simply would not eat this meat. Foer makes it clear that factory farming is the exceptional human activity that debases and destroys everything it touches: land, people, communities, and most of all, the innocents at the nexus, animals.

For a client project I need to be able to have a product catalog. The user first creates products, like in any normal CMS. The buyers though are shops, not individuals so instead of going through the catalog and clicking on a couple of products to add to cart, the order form needs to be a list of all the products created in the catalog, one list.

The product list is also an order form so each line includes a field for quantity and the end of the list is a total. The order can be saved and sent to the owner of the shop (simple email). The order though also needs to be saved under the client profile so he/she can get back to it and so the shop owner can refer to old orders and recommend things based on ordering history. Ideally the client could also simply duplicate a past order, tweak some quantities and re-order.

I have a feeling this will need to be custom but just in case, anyone know of a CMS, CMS with a module, CMS with a bunch of modules which could handle something like that?

Generally speaking, it’s probably cheaper and faster and more effective to make a prototype than to make presentation deck. It’s also probably easier to test something on real users than to do lots of marketing and guessing. My recommendation to just about anyone with an idea is to just build the thing, iterate until you have some user traction, then pitch angel investors based on that traction.

We show a new camera based interaction solution where an ordinary camera can detect small optical tags from a relatively large distance. Current optical tags, such as barcodes, must be read within a short range and the codes occupy valuable physical space on products. We present a new low-cost optical design so that the tags can be shrunk to 3mm visible diameter, and unmodified ordinary cameras several meters away can be set up to decode the identity plus the relative distance and angle. The design exploits the bokeh effect of ordinary cameras lenses, which maps rays exiting from an out of focus scene point into a disk like blur on the camera sensor. This bokeh-code or Bokode is a barcode design with a simple lenslet over the pattern. We show that an off-the-shelf camera can capture Bokode features of 2.5 microns from a distance of over 4 meters. We use intelligent binary coding to estimate the relative distance and angle to the camera, and show potential for applications in augmented reality and motion capture. We analyze the constraints and performance of the optical system, and discuss several plausible application scenarios.
It can be used in a mind-boggling array of applications from roof insulation to wall construction to flooring. It is seven times stronger than concrete, weighs half as much, and is less prone to cracking. Hemcrete® is also waterproof, fireproof, insulates well, does not rot and is completely recyclable.
