I Need a Nerd is taking part in a nationwide initiative to inspire more young people to get envolved with science, technology, engineering and maths. The STEM ambassador program has been set up to address the growing concerns regarding the skills gap that exists in the United Kingdom and will continue to grow if left untouched.

Many antivirus and computer security applications prove to be a birden upon computer users, it is common to hear of security suites:

- Taking up the majority of system memory
- Making the system considerably slower
- Alerting the user every 5 minutes about updates or permission requests
- Hijacking software and installing toolbars where they aren't really needed.

In our very unbiased opinon, NOD32 from ESET software, should be the industry standard when it comes to computer security, regardless of infrastructure size.

2nd Jan 2009: Norfolk children get £310,000 of free laptops

The Department for Children, Schools and Families has given Norfolk County Council £310,000 to purchase laptops for more than 400 children.

13th October 2008: Enterprise event at City College

St. Andrews House in the city centre was to be the location for 80 students of the Finance Academy, City College. Several speakers from the Norfolk Network addressed the students who then broke off into groups to undergo a challenge that culminated in a series of Dragon's Den - style pitches. These were then presented to a panel of judges, of which included I Need a Nerd.

I Need a Nerd, along with other local businesses had the privilege of talking to three hundred 14 to 16 year olds at sprowston high school about enterprise and entrepreneurship. The event, organised by the Norfolk Network involved a seminar on ideas, marketing and product placement. After which, students broke off into groups and presented pitches for (highly imaginative!) inventions.
