A few things you can try are directory submissions, social bookmarking, forum posting, blog commenting, press releases, reciprocal link exchange with relevant websites and even emailing your friends and family to help spread the word about website and asking them to help spread the word. Before you know it, one email expands to 10 people and then multiplies like crazy.
