This is my latest illo for Bang — a truly amazing magazine, where I'll also be a part of the editorial staff from the beginning of 2012, together with the brilliant Brita Lindvall*! We'll be re-designing the entire magazine plus collaborating as art directors from now on. Super-duper-happy about it, as I believe that we'll form a great team.
*Brita is co-founder of The Treasure Factory, a very cool design studio located in Stockholm.

Here, a fast illo for The New York Times and an article that gives warning not to underestimate the power of China’s work force. I just love working against the time, one never knows what will breed during hard pressure (image wise). It's like opening presents: surprise!

I also did a couple of spot illos for Konstnären magazine last week – regarding art that's polluting the environment. Very Carl Barksy, if I might say so. See all the images here.

I've been working for Ful and Bang — probably Swedens best magazines right now!
The new issue of Ful is international and I worked a bit different with the cover this time: it is illustrated with a patterned frame!

A variation of the patterned frame is printed on adhesive tape for taping posters and tables (!) together. The pictures below are from our Ful Space: @ Göteborgs Konsthall—the centre for contemporary art in Gothenburg.

The magazine has just been hosting art happenings and release parties in Gothenburg, Berlin and Beograd and will occupy Malmö in August. Don't miss anything, check out Ful's forthcoming events at our Facebook page!

From events to illustration; a draft and a final for feminist magazine Bang. A bit hard to explain the idea behind it, but the text it about European neo nationalistic parties with female leaders (there's a bunch of them) and the idea that a 'womanly' approach effectively could conceal a harsh agenda.

Last, a job I did for the Socialist Left Party (in Norway), various characters for a canvas bag & t-shirt print with the slogan Different people. Equal opportunities. There are some more but these are the ones that I like best. Unfortunately the cute dog and the senior in yellow was rejected — the strong woman in wheelchair was about to get skratched from the gang too, but I begged for them to keep her. So. She'll be in print and I'm very happy about it.

This one is an interesting idea, a zine that publishes out of copyright material from the public domain. In this case texts by Leo Tolstoy, Virginia Woolf and William Morris. Also in a very fetching format. Link

You are given the options of Fast, Good and Cheap, and told to pick any two. Here Fast refers to the time required to deliver the product, Good is the quality of the final product, and Cheap refers to the total cost of designing and building the product. This triangle reflects the fact that the three properties of a project are interrelated, and it is not possible to optimize all three – one will always suffer. In other words you have three options:

→ Design something quickly and to a high standard, but then it will not be cheap.
→ Design something quickly and cheaply, but it will not be of high quality.
→ Design something with high quality and cheaply, but it will take a long time.

Åsa Jungnelius is exhibiting March 24th at Crystal and I'm working on her exhibition zine. She has pretty much given me free hands to compile her pictures of inspiration and the work in progress and has specifically asked me to work with illustration to create a parallel piece. Honoured! Above is my version of one of her photos of a muffin cup.

Oh! I just received a great book — the 3x3 Annual — in which my work for Riksutställningar is featured. I could highly recommend it for you anyone who's interested in editorial work. In general I'm often disappointed in illustration books as they often have an odd mixture of work — in terms of quality — but this annual has a high standard. To it's disadvantage I have to say that the works seem a bit too unified though. Plus, hardly any women in the jury. Hello?

I'm going to guest teach for one week in Kyrkerud art school. Close to the border of Norway, haven't been to that part of Sweden since the mid-Nineties... Hi forest and sea! As part of my presentation I sent the students a couple of video clips describing my work and how I relate to it. (The video for work can actually also describe how I relate to it the work, and vice versa. Nothing is static.)
