When users are tired of using Microsoft Outlook and are in search of Alternative Desktop Email Client, they choose Thunderbird. Apart from receiving and sending mails users can do whole lot of work like create Folders, Filters, Apply Themes and use Thunderbird Addons to make work easier.

If in case you are moving from one PC to another, then you can easily transfer existing filters to new Desktop with Thunderbird Addon named Thunderbird Message Filter.

Once you download the .xpi file. Go to ‘Tools’ and select ‘Addon’s. Here click on ‘Install’ button and select the addon file. Within a second Thunderbrowse addon will be installed and you will be free to browse right from the Thunderbird Email Client.

Now, here is another Linux Distro which is well known for its small size. DSL or Damn Small Linux has a file-size of just 50 MB.

Damn Small Linux has got every software available in any other operating system like a pdf viewer named Xpdf, Light weight web browser named Dillo, Word processor and many more.

You can also run DSL O.S right from the USB pen drive, making it more handy and portable.

To run Damn Small Linux from pen drive, you will have to first download DSL-embedded.zip file and Universal USB Installer.

Once you finish downloading required files. Just copy the Universal-USB-Installer-v1.6.5 file to pen drive and Double click on it.

Select the DSL-embedded.zip file and click on ‘Create‘ option. This will create files required to run Damn Small Linux from Pendrive.

When the entire process of extraction is done, just click on file named dsl-base.bat.

This will start Damn Small Linux and you can now enjoy using Tiny Operating System right from USB pen drive.

The screenshot will be stored within a photoframe with attractive background and borders. There are plenty of photoframes to choose like CinemaDisplay, Postage, Aero Border etc.

But due to disconnection from internet i could only download 70% of the file. Instead of starting a fresh download of files, thought of continuing the file download, which was possible by adding a simple ‘-c‘ option to wget.

wget -c http://ftp.up.pt/mozilla/thunderbird/releases/3.0.4/linux-i686/en-US/thunderbird-3.0.4.tar.bz2

Adding ‘-c‘ option to wget will Resume Download of Files in Linux Terminal.

When you click on play button you will be prompted with a message to ‘Install Missing Flash Plugin‘. Once you choose to install, the installation will end with ‘Error Message’ due to mismatch of Flash Software.

I have found a simplest and easiest way to Install Flash in Fedora Linux Distro.

1. First Download Flash Plugin for Linux Operating System from Adobe.

The file named ‘install_flash_player_10_linux.tar.gz’ will be saved in default download location /home/USERNAME/Downloads ( Here, ‘john’ should be replaced by your login username ).

2. Extract ‘libflashplayer.so‘ from the downloaded file

3. Now, click on Applications > Accesories > Terminal. Type ‘su’ and your su password

4. Type the below command and press enter

cd /home/john/Downloads

( Here, ‘john’ should be replaced by your login username ) and press enter

5. Type the below command and press enter

mv libflashplayer.so /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/

This will move ‘libflashplayer.so’ to default location of mozilla in linux

Just restart Firefox Browser. Flash player will be installed in Fedora Linux Distro and you will able to watch YouTube videos or do any other task possible with Flash.

Here are simple steps on How to Upgrade from Fedora 12 to Fedora 13

1. Go Applications > System Tools > Terminal

2. Type ‘su‘ and enter your password

3. First Upgrade the rpm package
yum update rpm

4. Install latest updates
yum -y update

5. Clean the yum cache
yum clean all

6. During yum -y update, if in case new kernel gets installed you will have to reboot the entire system
reboot

7. Type ‘su’ and enter password

8. Install Pre-Upgrade
yum install preupgrade

9.preupgrade

This will start preupgrade wizard in Desktop. You will need to wait from sometime, once the entire process is done click on ‘Reboot
Now‘ button.

This will Upgrade your system from Fedora 12 to Fedora 13.

Fedora

Fedora 13 includes certain features that were not included in Fedora 12.

After restart CentOS 5.4 will be upgraded to the latest CentOS 5.5.

Other changes in CentOS 5.5 include upgrade to Openoffice.org version 3.1.1, wireless drivers suite, newer versionsath9k driver and the iwlwifi drivers, GNU Debugger gdb, Valgrind and SystemTap.
