IGNOU Offers a Four Year Course in Applied Sign Language

The UG Course has been designed and developed by experts at the University of Lancashire and IGNOU, following an agreement signed by the prime ministers of India and the UK. Thirty students have signed up for the programme. Xuesong Guan (21) from China is overjoyed that his speech-impairment will no longer stop him from making his dreams come true. Like him, 30 students of the four-year BA course in Applied Sign Language at IGNOU believe the programme is their gateway to a better and brighter future.

The Two universities are represented by Prof PR Ramanujam, director of Staff Training and Research Institute of Distance Education (STRIDE) of IGNOU and Prof Ulrike Zeshan of UcLAN, respectively. From 2013 onwards, IGNOU will be able to produce 30 employable sign language graduates every year. Like Guan, many of the foreign students, who have signed up for the programme, will return to their countries to educate a new generation of students.

New Delhi: As a part of its Silver Jubilee year celebrations, which begins on 19thNov, '09, IGNOU is soon organizing a series of workshops on Media and Photography. Professor Pillai stated that technological developments have changed the face of Indian Media over the last two decades. There are a large number of TV channels and publications today, along with several new platforms of news and content dissemination, like the web, mobiles and blogs.

Keeping pace with the technical developments in Media is a big challenge. IGNOU's Media Workshops will help the learner to keep abreast of technical changes. These workshops will be organised by the Staff Training and Research Institute of Distance Education (STRIDE), IGNOU, in collaboration with the Indo- Asian News Service (IANS). The workshops will cover various dimensions of Indian Media such as evolution of Media as well as ways of tackling negative publicity.The Photography workshops will explain digital technology and its aesthetics.

IGNOU Engineering Aptitude Test will be conducted within 10 days

The IGNEAT will be conducted within 10 days. The test was earlier to be conducted in five sessions - two on Oct 31 and three on Nov 1. But when the aspirants sat for the test Saturday, only two questions popped up on the screen.
The IGNOU Engineering Aptitude Test (IGNEAT) is the university's first foray into online testing. The test determines entry into B. Tech and diploma programmes in engineering and technology. IGNOU is the country's largest distance education university.On Saturday, when around 9,800 aspirants sat for the test, the IGNOU server failed and the test could not be conducted.

The MBA (Banking & Finance) Programme, specifically designed for Bankers, is offered through countrywide network of Study Centres of IGNOU. Developed collaboratively by School of Management Studies, IGNOU and the Indian Institute of Banking & Finance (IIBF), Mumbai, the Programme uses standard IGNOU multi-media design and technology aided delivery systems. The University announces admissions to the MBA (Banking & Finance) Programme for the session starting from January, 2010
In order to seek admission to this Programme, a candidate should:
(i) be a graduate of a recognized University,
(ii) have passed the CAIIB examinations of the Indian Institute of Banking & Finance, Mumbai and awarded the requisite qualification/credentials thereof by the Institute,
(ii) have been working in the Banking or Financial Service Sector for a period of at least two years.

‘Student Handbook & Prospectus 2010’ can be obtained from any of the IGNOU Regional Centres in person on payment of Rs.500/in cash or through post by sending an IPO/Demand Draft of Rs.550/- drawn in favour of ‘IGNOU’

IGNOU Announces Admission to M.Ed.

IGNOU invites applications for admission to Master of Education (M.Ed.) Programme for the academic session commencing January, 2010.The M.Ed. Programme launched by IGNOU through distance mode, is an innovative professional development programme. It has been designed and developed jointly by Distance Education Council (DEC), IGNOU and the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by the two bodies.

The main purpose of the programme is to prepare educational experts capable of generating knowledge by the application of scientific methods of inquiry. These experts will be enabled to prepare teachers for diverse situations. The M. Ed. programme will also provide an understanding of the process of education by cutting across a number of professional areas concerning special/inclusive education, ICT enabled education, human rights, responsibilities and values, environmental concerns and gender issues.The eligibility for admission to the programme is B.Ed. or B.El.Ed. degree with atleast 55% marks or equivalent grade on a five point scale from a recognized Indian or Foreign University.The Student Handbook and Prospectus for M.Ed. programme can be obtained from all the Regional Centres of IGNOU or from the Officer on Special Duty (OSD),

Sale of Prospectus will commence from 30th Oct, 09 at all Regional Centres. IGNOU have dispatched "Offer of B.ed Admission" letters for counseling to B.Ed. 2010 session to all eligible candidates by Speed Post. IGNOU B.Ed Admission fee is Rs. 17,400/ it should be send by Demand Draft in favour of IGNOU payable at Regional centre.
Candidates should bring all relevant papers mentioned in the "Offer of the Admission" letter on the date of counseling. The candidates under OBC category code - D4-B (Non-Creamy Layer) should submit the annual income certificate at the date of counseling. IGNOU Starts Online Post Graduate Programme on E-Learning

IGNOU Staff Training and Research Institute of Distance Education (STRIDE) has started a new Post Graduate Diploma in E-Learning (PGDEL). This programme will be available from the January 2010 session.The programme is open to teachers and trainers and aims to build their capacity to plan, design and deliver online learning courses and programmes using a variety of web 2.0 tools like video sharing, web applications and wikis.

IGNOU to Organise 'Train The Trainer' Workshop

IGNOU School of Journalism and New Media Studies (SOJNMS) is organizing its second Two Weeks’ Training programme on ‘Train the Trainer’, in collaboration with DW- AKADEMIE of Deutche Welle(DW). DW is the Federal Republic of Germany’s international Broadcaster. The training will be conducted from 26th October to 6th November, 2009 at IGNOU Campus, Maidan Garhi, New Delhi.

This training programme is the first of its kind to be organised by IGNOU in India, with a vision to propagate the latest methodologies of training for creating a set of highly skilled, professional trainers. The ‘Teach the Trainer’ workshop is eminently suitable to those who are in the teaching profession, project management, human resource management, logistic providers of media production, media trainers and management and corporate entities.

The goal of this programme is to equip the participants with skills which will enable them to train others. The ‘Teach the Trainer’ programme covers subjects such as modern training methods, basics of the learning process, presentation techniques, instruments of communication, needs- assessment and objectives , educational tips and strategies and suggested solutions for conflict situations.

IGNOU Student can get Pohotocopy of their Answer Script

IGNOU Result are being out and some student may not be satisfied with their result. So Ignou has announced a Notice for those student to apply for Students desiring to apply for Pohotocopy of their Answer Script and shall submit their application in the prescribed Proforma (copy attached). The fee for photocopy of the answer script shall be Rs.100/- (Rupees One Hundred only) which may be changed from time to time. Fee shall be paid in the form of a Demand Draft drawn in favour of IGNOU and payable at New Delhi. Application form without self attested photocopy of the IGNOU Identity Card of the student will not be entertained.
Student’s application for photocopy of the answer scripts shall reach the Registrar, Student Evaluation Division (SED) along with the prescribed fee within 45 days from the date of declaration of results. The date of receipt of application in Student Evaluation Division (SED) for June Term End Examination shall be 15 October and for December TEE shall be 15 April or within 45 days from the date of declaration of the result on the University Website whichever is late. Registrar, SED shall send the photocopy of the answer scripts to the student within 15 days from the date of receipt of request. While doing so, particulars and signature of evaluator shall not be disclosed.The last date for submission of application for the re-evaluation shall remain unchanged i.e. 30 days from the date of declaration of results.

The students who intend to apply for photocopy of the answer scripts should simultaneously apply for re-evaluation, if they so desire. The last date for submission of application for re-evaluation will not be extended to facilitate students to point out discrepancy in the evaluation.

Students, who find that any portion of the answer was not evaluated or any totaling error is noticed, may point out the same and submit their representation to Registrar (SED) along with a copy of the answer scripts supplied to them within 15 days. No other query regarding evaluation of answer script shall be entertained.
