Blank States was a direct result to the break ups of Wormburner and Victor! Fix The Sun. We threw around the idea for months before finally getting together with Brent from the band Ambassador. It's kind of a play as you can system, sometimes with months between practices, but that's kind of what makes it consistently new and fun. A perfect outlet from everyone's other projects. Ryan does Jowls (Doghouse), Brent does Between Brains, and Kevin's got a band with Alex from Wormburner, John from Shores, and Lance from Empty Orchestra.

Blank States will be out and about doing shows around the Midwest this summer and doing FEST 11.
Maybe more similar to our first record than our recent records. Our take on the "wall of sound." We recorded this last year in Detroit with Andrew Davis. I think both of these songs came out great and I've been really excited about people hearing them!

I missed my dad's 60th birthday party to record this! I'm a horrible son! Download this record so I feel like I made an okay choice last January.

The songs are a lot closer to our first record "Cities We're Not From", with zero saxophone and tons of noise. If you're a fan of Titus Andronicus, you should check it out.

IS THE COMPARISON APPROPRIATE?
This was one of my favorite records of 2008. The first time I heard it I was on Halo Fauna tour and I instantly fell in love with Little Lungs. Download this record in preparation for their reunion this Friday (3/30/2012) w/ Noun, Swearin' and These Days. The show is a benefit for the Multiple Sclerosis Society. It's at Death By Audio. Click here for more information!

In 2007, I was in a band called Cheeky with 3 friends. Angela Boylan was our drummer. She was (and is) my favorite drummer to play with, but Angie had sort of secretly been writing songs on guitar on her own for years. She had a stockpile of songs she was waiting to play with a band.

Not long after I learned of Angie's secret songs, Little Lungs started practicing. Aside from being our sister/brother band, Little Lungs were some of my closest friends. So I was really excited for it.

I fell in love with the songs while seeing them live, the driving "Pet Cemetery" was my favorite. I still can't help but sing and drum along to every part when I hear it. I was floored when I heard Jacki Sulley's bass parts. They were completely complimentary to Angie's songwriting. Between the three of them, with Josh Wolpert on drums, Little Lungs nailed it.

"Hoist Me Up" is a bunch of lovable, poppy songs. It's pretty straightforward, but Angie gets really noodly and Jacki does too. The songs are about relationships, presumably, anyone can relate to them. During a time when most of my friends were in hardcore bands or pop-punk bands, Little Lungs brought back a sound that evoked my favorite parts of the Get Up Kids, the Weakerthans, and even Jimmy Eat World. All bands I had screamed along to with Angie in her basement bedroom. - Kate Wadkins

Is it spring yet? It feels like it's coming. What did those pesky groundhogs say? Which one are you supposed to trust? How can I wrap up this awful segue into describing the record. Well, let's scrap that altogether.

This record is the world's answer to the recent loss of Teenage Cool Kids. Let me cite some examples. They are both from Texas. How far is Denton from Austin? Damn it, this record is so good. Listen to "Grifted" and watch the seasons change.

Arab Spring is split release between Square of Opposition Records and Austin Town Hall Records.

Dear to whom it may concern LITERATURE is a band on the edge........ of Jangle and power pop Goodness . They frequently reside in Austin Texas where this past summer they just recorded there debut full length ARAB SPRING. It is a delightful jaunt threw the world of CATCHTASTICNESS and HOOKALITY. Not to say that these guys are all bubble gum and pea-knuckle there is definitely a Buxxcocksesque attitude rampant threw out this whole Album. But don't take my word for it CH CH CHECK IT OUT

If you like this, download the Nude Beach and For Serious This Time records. Then grab some ice cream.

*I'm not sure who wrote the description or if Buxxcocksesque is supposed to be Buzzcock-esque. BIG DEAL!
When I heard that Kevin and Jon had started a new band, I knew it was going to be great. If you loved The Fucking Cops, this picks up right where they left off. I'm never good at these descriptions, so I'll leave it to the eloquent Marco Reosti of Salinas Records.

"Old Neighbors are/were a band from Grand Rapids, MI. Grand Rapids is a fine place full of wonderful people, but it can be a little dark when the dreary days where fall are closing in on winter. Maybe that's why the songs Jon Rybicki wrote for this band were a little more emotionally raw than his previous efforts in The Fucking Cops. The music can sound bright and powerful, especially backed by Alex Angus of Traffic & Weather, Kevin Nunn of North Lincoln and Jay VanVeen of Cain Marko, but the lyrics are a stark approach to death anddisappointment."
