This congress was held by videoconference. The delegates elected by the Municipal and Special radio clubs were involved from the premises provided for that purpose by Empresa de Telecomunicaciones de Cuba in each of the 14 provinces.

The Conference was attended by more than 95% of their delegates. After reading the report of the past five years they discussed and approved the lines of future development. They also elected the new National Executive, see photo, to which we sent our greetings.

Silvia Munárriz, Viceministra del Ministerio de la Informática y las Comunicaciones de Cuba, del Ing. Omar Pérez Salomón, Funcionario del Comité Central del Partido Comunista de Cuba, y otros funcionarios de las Telecomunicaciones, el pasado sábado 31 de octubre.

Este congreso se realizó por videoconferencia. Los Delegados electos en los Radioclubes Municipales y Especiales participaron desde los locales habilitados con ese fin por la Empresa de Telecomunicaciones de Cuba en cada una de las 14 provincias del país.

Al Congeso asistieron mas del 95 % de sus Delegados. Despues de la lectura del informe de los pasados cinco años se discutieron y aprobaron las líneas de desarrollo futuro. Tembién se eligó al nuevo Ejecutivo Nacional, en la foto, al cual enviamos una felicitación.

Olé Garpestad LA2RR ha sido el primer radioaficionado en solicitar el nuevo Diploma IARU R2.

Olé, quien es Vicepresidente de IARU, ha presentó en persona las 20 QSLs necesarias para obtener el diploma.  Ha sido una gran sorpresa el saber que el primer diploma es para un radioaficionado noruego.

Ole Garpestad LA2RR has been the first radio amateur requesting the new IARU R2 Award.

Ole, who is IARU Vice-president, presented in person the 20 QSLs necessary to obtain the diploma. It has been a great surprise to know that the first award goes to a Norwegian radio amateur.

IARU Region 2 will grant the IARU-R2 AWARD to radio amateurs and radio listeners (SWL) who certify having contacted 20 countries or entities acknowledged in IARU Region 2, which corresponds to R2 of the International Telecommunications Union (ITU). Valid contacts must be made starting April 16, 1964, date at which IARU-R2 was founded.

IARU Región 2 otorgará el DIPLOMA IARU-R2 a los radioaficionados y radioescuchas (SWL) que acrediten haber hecho contacto con 20 países o entidades reconocidas en la Región 2 IARU, correspondiente a la R2 de la Unión Internacional de Telecomunicaciones ITU. Serán validos los contactos realizados a partir del 16 de abril de 1964, fecha en que fue fundada la IARU-R2.
