Buyers of the Ford E-350 are aware of the reputation of the van they are purchasing. The E-350 has been one of the premier vehicles of the Ford line for years. It is considered an institution of a van and the 2003 model is no exception. The Ford E-350 falls into the cutaway van for the family category. People who purchase the E-350 have been doing so for the last few generations in a family. It is a constant that only gets better with age.

Performance

The E-350 Base is equipped with a Ford 5.4 liter eight-cylinder engine that utilizes 16 valves. The Triton engine is mated to a Ford 4-speed Transmission. This configuration has proven to be a successful design for Ford.

The fuel system for the 2003 E-350 is a traditional SFI, running on CNG fuel. The fuel is controlled by an electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design. The capacity of the fuel tank is 19.00 gallons.

Steering control is handled through a power-steering gear-style configuration. The E-350 has power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. The van uses coil front springs and leaf in the rear.

E-350 Base Statistics

The dimensions of the E-350 Base are 78.20 inches wide by 212.00 inches long. It sits a comfortable 56.80 inches off the ground. It seats a standard six passengers, with 2 doors. The wheelbase of 114.70 allows for limited leg room for the backseat passengers.

The original manufacturer suggested retail price (MSRP) was $27,780 when new, with a dealer invoice cost of $25,412. This price was in line with the industry average price for a 2-door Cutaway Van.

The standard warranty period for the E-350 is 36 months, or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. This is standard in the cutaway van market.

Fuel Efficiency

The E-350 Base received a miles-per-gallon rating of eighteen in-city driving and twenty six when it came to long-distance. Being a cng-powered hybrid van, this was subpar.

Conclusion

The 2003 model year was unsuccessful for the Ford E-350. The introduction of several trim levels (along with the Base version) meant that buyers had several options to choose from..

The improved reliability and the sporty styling were responsible for the sales boost.

Ford E-250 Engine Specs

Standard equipment in the E-250 for 2008 and 2009 includes the 4.6 liter engine by Ford, weighing in at 8 cylinders and sixteen valves. A 4-speed Automatic Transmission puts the power of the Triton engine to the pavement. This is a long-standing favorite for buyers in the Standard Cargo Van arena.

The fuel system for the 2009 E-250 is a traditional SFI, running on FLEX fuel. The fuel is controlled by an electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design. The capacity of the fuel tank is 12 gallons.

The E-250 uses power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. Steering is handled through a power-steering gear-style configuration. The van uses coil and leaf springs front and rear respectively.

Vehicle Statistics

The dimensions of the E-250 Base are inches wide by inches long. It sits inches off the ground. It seats a standard several adults passengers, with 3 doors. The wheelbase of allows for extra leg room for the rear passengers.

The listed retail price in 2009 (MSRP) was an industry-low price, with a dealer invoice cost of an industry-low price. This price is on target the industry average price for a three-door Standard Cargo Van.

There is a 50,000* mile, 60* month warranty with this vehicle, including a powertrain warranty of 50,000*/36* miles/months. This is normal for this price range.

Fuel Efficiency

The E-250 Base received a miles-per-gallon rating of seventeen in-city driving and twenty three when it came to highway driving. Being a flex-powered green van, this was exceptional.

We Think...

The 2008 model began the promise of the Ford E-250. The 2009 expanded on this success and has proven to be a strong seller in most markets. Even with strong competition from other manufacturers Ford hopes that the E-250 Base will continue to be a profitable vehicle.

A high point in the extended cargo van market is the Ford E-250. In 2003 Ford rolled out an upgraded version of the E-250 with one versions: Base. Sales for the E-250, especially the E-250 Base, were brisk during 2003 and 2004. The improved reliability and the updated styling were responsible for the increased interest.

2003 Ford E-250 Base Specs

Standard equipment in the E-250 for 2002 and 2003 includes the 5.4 liter engine by Ford, weighing in at 8 cylinders and sixteen valves. A 4-speed Automatic Transmission puts the power of the Triton engine to the pavement. The has proven to be a popular configuration for the E-250.

The fuel system for the 2003 E-250 is a traditional SFI, running on CNG fuel. The fuel is controlled by an electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design. The capacity of the fuel tank is 19.00 gallons.

Steering control is handled through a power-steering gear-style configuration. The E-250 comes equipped with power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. The van uses coil front springs and leaf in the rear.

Statistics

The E-250 is 212.00 inches long, 78.20 inches wide, and 56.80 inches high. It has a wheelbase of 114.70 inches. It is able to seat 6 comfortably.

The listed retail price in 2003 (MSRP) was $27,780, with a dealer invoice cost of $25,412. This price is in line with the industry average price for a two-door Extended Cargo Van.

There is a 36,000 mile, 36 month warranty with this vehicle, including a powertrain warranty of 36,000/36 miles/months. This is normal for this price range.

Fuel Efficiency

The 2003 E-250 gets 26 miles/gallon on the highway and only 18 in the city. This is below average for a extended cargo van van.

Parting Shots

The 2003 model year was very successful for the Ford E-250. The introduction of several trim levels (along with the Base version) meant that buyers could find the version that best suited their needs.

The 8-cylinder engine is at the core of the strong emotions, it is reliable for its class and delivers a huge amount of torque.

Engine Performance

The Crown Victoria Police Interceptor is equipped with a Ford 4.6 liter eight-cylinder engine that utilizes 16 valves. The engine is mated to a Ford 4-speed Transmission. This configuration has proven to be a successful design for Ford.

The Crown Victoria uses power-assisted brakes, with Non-ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. Steering is handled through a power-steering gear-style configuration. The car uses coil and coil springs front and rear respectively.

Crown Victoria Police Interceptor Statistics

The dimensions of the Crown Victoria Police Interceptor are 78.20 inches wide by 212.00 inches long. It sits a comfortable 56.80 inches off the ground. It seats a standard six passengers, with 4 doors. The wheelbase of 114.70 allows for limited leg room for the backseat passengers.

The original manufacturer suggested retail price (MSRP) was $22,005 when new, with a dealer invoice cost of $20,529. This price was in line with the industry average price for a 4-door Sedan.

Fuel Efficiency

The fuel system for the 1999 Crown Victoria is a SFI design, running on CNG fuel. The fuel flow is regulated by a electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design. The storage capacity of the fuel tank is 19.00 gallons.

The Crown Victoria Police Interceptor received a miles-per-gallon rating of 14 - 17 in-city driving and 20 - 24 when it came to long-distance. Being a cng-powered hybrid car, this was subpar.

In Summary

The 1999 model year was unsuccessful for the Ford Crown Victoria.
In 2008 Chevrolet released the Uplander LS to the van-buying market. The Uplander came in three configurations: LS, LT, and Base. The LS configuration is powered by the 3.9-liter six-cylinder engine, which makes 23 highway miles and 16 city. The Uplander competes in the Mini Passenger Van market segment, in direct competition with Honda.

Chevrolet Uplander Engine Specs

The Uplander LS is equipped with a General Motors 3.9 liter six-cylinder engine that utilizes 12 valves. The engine is mated to a General Motors 4-speed Transaxle. This is a long-standing favorite for buyers in the Mini Passenger Van arena.

The Uplander uses power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. Steering is handled through a power-steering rack-style configuration. The van uses coil and coil springs front and rear respectively.

Vehicle Statistics

The Uplander is 204.30 inches long, 72.00 inches wide, and 72.00 inches high. It has a wheelbase of 121.10 inches. It is able to seat 3 comfortably.

The listed retail price in 2008 (MSRP) was $22,730, with an invoice cost of $21,253. This price is above average of the industry average price for a four-door Mini Passenger Van.

Fuel Efficiency

The fuel system for the 2008 Uplander is a traditional SFI, running on FLEX fuel. The fuel is controlled by an electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design. The capacity of the fuel tank is 25.00 gallons.

The 2008 Uplander gets 23 miles/gallon on the highway and only 16 in the city. This is exceptional for a mini passenger van van.

We Think...

The 2007 model began the promise of the Chevrolet Uplander. The 2008 expanded on this success and has proven to be a strong seller in most markets. Even with strong competition from other manufacturers Chevrolet hopes that the Uplander LS will continue to be a profitable vehicle.

The standard warranty period for the Uplander is 36 months, or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. The warranty also includes a warranty on the drivetrain for 60 months or 100,000 miles respectively. This is standard in the mini cargo van market. Extended warranties are also available through the dealer.

Conclusion

There are several reasons why the Chevrolet Uplander Base sold well in 2008. Mainly the increase in availability and a marked improvement in quality meant the buying public was more apt to choose a Chevrolet, specifically a Uplander.
