We bear great news from north of the wall.

Ok, so we were in Scotland and to get us in the mood, Braveheart was on.
But what an awesome time at Women Walking with God, a women's conference up in Edinburgh.
Half of us drove up the glorious M6 on thursday while the others enjoyed the scenery from their plane windows, before a great first night of the conference.
Saturday greeted us with a travelodge breakfast (no salty porridge tho, or haggis) and an opportunity for 1200 Women to meet with God through songs and preaching.
That afternoon, after a massive plater of chocolate (none of which I saw) we performed a mini-gig. Some of the ladies on the front row seemed a little underprepared when I bounced toward them during a solo... but all in all it was good fun.
To many, the celebration on saturday night was a highlight, really taking time to meet with God and let him meet with us.
Here's what some said:
"Thank you for such up lifting worship at WWWG you could realy feel god moving in that place!"
"Hi to Lou and the whole Phatfish gang - just a note to say that your worship leading at the WWWG event in Edinburgh was stunning. Moving, totally professional and completely God given and led. A true highlight! Many thanks not just from me but from all of us at Inverness. We've got lots of ideas for new worship songs..."
And there it is, a great time working with a great team of chicks up in Scotland.

Thus concluding the update on the northern conquest.
Benny the BrucePhatfish Bloghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06770782000877916147noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3673016649975735516.post-52041057019627864792010-02-16T13:54:00.001+00:002010-02-16T13:55:38.456+00:00PHATFISH AT THE PROMSWhat a weekend!
Friday night saw us up in Norwich with around 500 people at the 'Newday on the Road' event. We had a great worship time, glorifying and meeting with God, before Joel Virgo spoke, and all rounded up with a rocking phatfish gig to finish.

Then, after an evening under Thomas the tank engine bed-sheets (oh yeah!), it was back down south to the Congress theatre, Eastbourne for an evening with the all saints orchestra featuring Phatfish/Lou Fellingham songs with orchestral accompaniment.
Man, these guys are hot. They sounded so good! Hearing an orchestra play guitar parts that you've written is a strange experience, and we loved playing with them.

And back to sunny Brighton... Was my first time back at church since coming back after spending 7 weeks in Australia. You know when you're in a good church when you get that 'home sweet home' feeling.

See you at a gig soon.
Benny boy.
ps, it was only me on the thomas the tank engine bed, not all of us.Phatfish Bloghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06770782000877916147noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3673016649975735516.post-88375621334619000112010-01-29T09:57:00.002+00:002010-01-29T10:02:00.572+00:00Amazing God being sung in India!Phatfish Bloghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06770782000877916147noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3673016649975735516.post-44984742790856347122010-01-13T01:21:00.003+00:002010-01-13T01:40:12.107+00:00new year, new newsHey there, hope you all had a great christmas. There we had a great afternoon training a local church's worship team. The bands welcomed us real well and seemed to love it, one bloke says, "I can't believe how much we got done and how much we improved in an hour", and "it was good - I learned some cool new things". After the training, we got set up for the gig which someone made a cool little video out of, check it out here:

Thanks to all the Durham fans for a stonking night and awesome thai green curry!
Then (bright eyed and bushy tailed) it was off to Liverpool for another quality days training with a local church worship team, and then a great reception at a gig in the Wirral.
Thanks to all the fans who came, saw and rocked, and joined the mailing list. Thanks also to the chatty northerner ladies in the petrol stations, you brightened up our journeys!

... I think they pretty much did. The 'Transparent Overdrive' is inspired by the 'Timmy' overdrive, and the 'Drive', by the Fultone OCD. There's loads of vids on youtube comparing them, but I presently own both these so thought i'd dial up the Danelectro pedals alongside their boutique role models.

So first, the 'Transparent Overdrive vs Paul Coltraine's 'Timmy':
The timmy is famous for transparent nature of its overdrive (hence the name for Dano's version). Sonically, they are very similar, which isn't suprising considering they're pretty much the same inside. The range of the dano (like the timmy) is anywhere from a clean boost to chunky, fat overdrive tones. Both pedals won't give you mental distortion, that's just not what they were made for, but they'l do pretty much everything else. I must say, you do get a really nice sound from the Timmy straight off the bat, where the dano needs a bit more time spent fiddling with the tone controls in order to get the sound you're after. Despite their fundamental similarities in sonic nature, they do sound different. The dano is very close to the timmy, and some might not notice the difference, but there's a definite sloshy hi-mid aspect to the dano that shows up when played next to the Timmy. This diminishes some of the clarity that the Timmy excels in. But to be honest the Timmy is 3x as expensive as the Dano which is a steal at £30. Part of me thinks, If you've only got that much to spend on a pedal, you're already a third of the way to affording a Timmy. BUT, The transparent overdrive is pretty sweet for 30 quid, so I'd suggest you get one if you can't wait for a Timmy. For more info visit http://www.danelectro.com

So now for the Denelectro 'Drive' vs the Fultone OCD:
I was a lot more impressed with the drive compared to the transparent overdrive. Both the 'Drive' and 'OCD' boast a lot more overdrive than the previous pedals, and give more saturation of your signal and more of a 'full on' sound. The 'Drive' is ridiculously similar to the OCD (in HP mode). In fact, so close that there's not too much to say. The drive is a little smoother than the OCD (which is a pretty aggressive pedal). The OCD sounds like it has a greater compression ratio, which makes the single notes and palm muted notes more articulated, punchy, and clear. The OCD is a better pedal and I'd say get one if you can, but that said, they're pretty similar. And what else can you get for £25?... A couple McDonalds? I say, make sandwiches till you save enough and spend it on one of these bad boys, you won't regret it. We love getting a chance to play our songs to people in a live context and hope people will be encouraged as a result - as well as just having a great time! Tickets for Worthing on the 9th October are beginning to get pretty scarce so looks like St Matthew's church will be heaving. You can get tickets for the gig on the 10th at Gloucester Guildhall directly from their web-site . We’ve enjoyed some great gigs in the Cheltenham and Gloucester area so we’re well chuffed to have the chance to play again. Look forward to seeing you there!
NathanPhatfish Bloghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06770782000877916147noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3673016649975735516.post-39307921604557032972009-09-24T12:22:00.004+01:002009-09-24T16:03:39.758+01:00There is a Day VideoWe've been noticing quite a few videos on YouTube of the Phatfish classic "There is a Day". We had a fantastic week leading worship along with Kate Simmonds and Simon Brading for over 4000 leaders from across the nations.

Following that we moved on to Keswick, the 'oldest' Bible week in existence! It was a real pleasure working with Stuart Townend again, and had a really fun and relaxed week being well looked after by all those at Keswick. What makes this one so great is that fortunately all our families can come and it is situated in one of the most beautiful parts of the country, so all in all a brilliant week!

After a long and frustrating drive straight from Keswick we arrived at Newday, a youth event held in Norfolk with almost 7000 attending this year! The schedule was full on, with us playing every morning as Phatfish, and then also leading with Matt Redman and then a gig! It was a great week though, brilliant to be a part of what God is doing - with 361 kids making a first time commitment to God on one night!

Check out the diary soon for some more events we are at in the Autumn!

Bye for now!Phatfish Bloghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06770782000877916147noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3673016649975735516.post-50539373739969849022009-06-16T12:25:00.003+01:002009-06-16T12:37:53.598+01:00TSL Press ReleaseTSL is a stage lighting company, based in our home town of Brighton.

We use TSL for all of our lighting requirements for any show we put on and have a extremely good working relationship with them!

Below is a press release of theirs describing one of our more strange requests! We'd love to hear your thoughts on the new track - please tell us what you think below! You should also look out for the acoustic version that will be part of the ‘PHAT PACK'…more about that soon.

Nathan Fellingham comments on the song…

‘I wrote ‘In Jesus’ after hearing one of our Elders – John Hosier – preaching about all that we have ‘In Christ’. He kept repeating the phrase ‘In Christ’, In Christ’. I thought it would be great to write a song that went through highlighting different wonders and benefits that there are for those who are ‘In Christ Jesus’.

Ephesians 1 is such a rich passage and I just mined it for gems of truth that I could put into the meter of the tune that had come to me. I love songs that build you up as you sing them! And I hope that this song will do that for people. I don’t ever want to grow tired of singing about the wonder of our Salvation – all that Jesus has done for us.’

The whole album is due to be released in just 7 days, with 4 fantastic ways to buy it at Phatfish.net - from a simple download to a very special PHAT PACK that includes bonus acoustic tracks, a limited edition poster and an official Phatfish t-shirt with the new logo!

Phatfish Bloghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06770782000877916147noreply@blogger.com15tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3673016649975735516.post-25690186637264805092009-05-20T16:41:00.002+01:002009-05-20T16:45:39.636+01:00Download your FREE mp3 today from the NEW album...We're giving away the title track from our new album 'IN JESUS'!

Download your FREE pre-release MP3 here and get a taste of this summer's essential album now!

The 'IN JESUS' tour starts in just 10 days so book your tickets today.

Catch the band performing songs from their new album - plus all your favourite Phat hits too!

• 29MAY // Leicester Square // details
• 13JUNE // Brighton // details
• 18JUNE // Woodbridge // details
• 26JUNE // Peterborough // details
• 27JUNE // Bromley // detailsPhatfish Bloghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06770782000877916147noreply@blogger.com8tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3673016649975735516.post-33805847409504862912009-05-07T13:08:00.003+01:002009-05-07T14:06:16.062+01:00Win free tickets to summer gigs!In less than a month Phatfish will be launching their latest studio album 'In Jesus' - 10 brand new songs bursting with anthemic truth!

Catch the band performing the new album LIVE throughout June - these events are not to be missed!!! That’s what Jesus said. Most worshippers, however, are busy worshipping something else – though they were custom designed for worshipping God only and cannot really live till they set this right. To learn to worship the Lord is to learn to be fully human – each in our unique lives, with our unique gifts; but also as God's people… together. Worship School exists to equip people and churches in this task. To understand it, practice it and excel in it. We look forward to learning together with you.

A huge highlight was that Mark Driscoll from Mars Hill Church in Seattle sent over his Worship Pastor Tim Smith to come and speak at Worship School. Tim spoke extremely insightfully on missional worship and missional bands, encouraging churches and bands to engage in the culture.

For more details check out the website

Phatfish Bloghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06770782000877916147noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3673016649975735516.post-87170952568354656822009-03-12T09:19:00.009+00:002009-03-14T12:20:52.796+00:00Ben Hall gear talkIsn't it weird how guitarists always know the dates of their guitars and amps?
