I’ve overheard people say that Seattle’s Best’s 6th Avenue Bistro Blend was as good as the coffee served in European cafes. I guess it’s about time I gave it a shot.

This coffee has a solid, smoky aroma to it. But the smokiness is one that’s more desirable than burnt, so I don’t mind it at all.

Taste-wise, it has a dark, rich flavor that makes it great for perking you up. It is a full-bodied coffee, but it has a fine finish to it that makes it go down smooth as you drink it. Definitely a great choice for breakfast.

People who are conscious about hyperacidity can rest easy because this rich-tasting coffee has low acidity level. Good for 2 to 3 cups for the average person. Of course, it would be wise to take food in before drinking coffee to avoid upsetting your stomach.

I’d like to know what you think of Seattle’s 6th Avenue Bistro Blend, though. Did you enjoy it as much as I did?

First of all, by being fair trade, I’m sure that those hardworking coffee farmers are paid right for their jobs. Good for them. Good for Seattle’s Best, too. Also, the fact that everything done to the coffee is organic – from growing to harvesting, cleaning to decaffeinating – people who might be allergic to chemical residues from the usual coffee processing materials can rest easy.

Now that we’re done with that, let’s move over to the taste. One whiff of the brewing batch and I could easily tell that it’s a good morning cup. It tasted roast-y, which is what I really like on my morning coffee. However, the slight hint of smokiness could mean it’s been roasted a tad too long. But hey, I think that was actually part of the charm.

Those who can’t tolerate acidic beverages can have their chance to enjoy the Decaf Organic Fair Trade Twilight because it didn’t seem all that acidic to me.

Taking it with freshly toasted bread or newly baked muffins seem like a good pair to the coffee’s robust flavor and smooth finish.

Upon opening the package, I immediately caught a whiff of sweetness in the coffee. I’m not surprised because I’ve heard a lot of people tell me that this was a bit too sweet for their palate. The same sweet, nutty goodness emanated from the coffee as I was waiting for it to finish brewing. It kind of made me anticipate how the drink would turn out.

The coffee felt smooth to my tongue. Kind of like silk on skin. The creamy, nutty taste wasn’t as overpowering as other people would put it. It may be my sweet tooth talking, but I found the blend of flavor quite balanced.

Personally, I think Seattle’s Best’s Hazelnut Creme is more of a treat than a pick-me-upper. And in my opinion, this flavored coffee would be best served as a dessert coffee than a breakfast cup.

I would say that Seattle’s Best’s Hazelnut Creme is definitely a treat for people with a knack for sweets.

It’s like a personal mind game I play whenever I drink such coffees.

With Seattle’s Best’s Portside coffee, I got a chance to play my little mind game again.

A multiple-origin coffee, the blend of flavors was really a treat for the senses. The strong coffee odor with a hint vanilla-ish scent was a delight. The rich flavor of the coffee had a bit of spicy and cocoa-ish notes.

Taken black, you’ll definitely enjoy the kick it gives to your senses. Adding sugar and milk to it didn’t really hold too well for me. But hey, not everybody likes their coffee black so I guess to each his own.

As for the coffee’s finish, you detect a hint of fruitiness in the end. Yet another surprising finish.

All in all, I think Seattle’s Best’s Portside Blend is a good coffee. The challenge of identifying the various flavor notes in it sure was exhilarating.

But enough about what I think of the coffee, I’d like to know what you think of Seattle’s Best Portside Blend.

Aroma wise, I wasn’t sure if this coffee is as fragrant as the others. I take into account that this could be because it had been sitting in my cupboard for quite a while now. I was still able to detect a faint sweet scent, but it didn’t really ruin the coffee experience for me.

Moving on to the taste, Saturday’s Blend has a rather sharp, roasted flavor to it that gives it a strong taste. But it also has a cocoa-like taste to it, making it a pleasant and relaxing drink. Just right for a peaceful Saturday morning, don’t you think?

I took it black, but mixing milk and sugar to the drink didn’t make the coffee any less enjoyable. I paired with a blueberry waffle and it turned out really well, too.

So yeah, here I am, yet to run another taste test on a Seattle’s Best’s vanilla-flavored coffee, the Vanilla Bean. Let me start with what I discovered about the Vanilla Bean variant:

In terms of aroma, I like the sweet and delectable scent of vanilla the coffee gave out. It was rather soothing. Upon tasting, the vanilla flavor did come through. Smooth and sweet, like it’s aroma. Bold-flavored and medium-bodied, I had a nice time taste testing this coffee.

I think the sweetness of the Vanilla Bean Coffee makes it a great coffee for pastries that aren’t sweet. Probably a piece of toast or a regular muffin. I would have to say that this, to me, is not a coffee drink that doesn’t pick a time of day. I find it to be a great night cap.

Clearly, this smooth coffee would make for a great way to put a relaxing end to the busy day you’ve had.

The only other Sumatra coffee I’ve tried was that of Starbucks, so I’m hoping Seattle’s Best’s Organic Sumatra would be just as good. Here we go..

Aroma wise.. You get that cocoa-like, spicy smell to the coffee. It also has a hint of berry in the scent. Now, this is why I think it’s so complex – all those different notes intricately packed into the bean.

Anyway, back to the coffee. The cocoa taste stays rather prominent in the drink, but you’ll definitely get that earthy flavor to it. As the coffee cools down, the cocoa-flavor simmers down a bit to give way to a nice caramel-y finish.

A full-bodied coffee with little to medium acidity, I think this is great for people who don’t really like strong coffee. The fact that it’s organically grown and roasted also makes it a delight for people with sensitive tummies, you no longer have to worry about being allergic to synthetic fertilizer residues.

That pretty much wraps up what I think of the coffee. How about you, what do you think of Seattle’s Best’s Organic Sumatra Coffee?

The coffee smelt sweet. It was a great aroma that kind of gave me a relaxing feel to the coffee. I find it great for decompressing after a long day’s work. Especially after dinner, just before you get ready to retire to bed.

Seattle’s Best’s Colombian Coffee had kind of a light to medium body to it. At least that’s what I think. As for the flavor, it’s balanced with just enough coffee strength and sweetness to make it a drink that doesn’t choose a specific pastry type to go with.

The only problem you’ll have is the acidity of this coffee. It has a bright acidity to it, so you might want to be weary of taking a second cup. Sure, I can take it, but I doubt that people who are prone to hyperacidity can.

Like their other coffee offerings, Seattle’s Best’s Colombian Coffee comes in ground and whole bean variants, so those who’d like to grind the coffee themselves or like it ready to brew can have it either way. Having such alternatives make like more convenient, don’t you agree?

Anywho, I’ll shut up now. I’d like to hear what you have to say about Seattle’s Best Colombian Coffee.

To start off, the aroma was nice. From opening the package to brewing the actual coffee, it was fragrant through and through. I took my time enjoying the coffee’s floral scent as I was waiting for the coffee to finish brewing.

In all fairness to Seattle’s Best, their House Blend did come off as a smooth coffee. However, I’ve had better. It was kind of sweet, so I didn’t add sugar to it anymore. I’d say when it comes to acidity, it’d be in the medium range, so those with weak stomachs better not overdo themselves with this coffee.

And before I forget, this coffee is organic. So people with allergies to chemicals used in mass processing coffee can rest easy when enjoying the drink.

But overall, it was a good coffee experience for me. I don’t think it’s a coffee that chooses a certain time of day to be best enjoyed. It’s smoothness makes it a round the clock coffee. At least that’s my opinion of it.

How about you, what do you think of Seattle’s Best’s Organic House Blend?

Well, I can say the Seattle’s Best’s own take on the popular French Roast coffee is quite like that.

You get greeted with an intense aroma when you open the package. While you’re brewing it, you can expect the scent of strong coffee to fill the entire kitchen. The aroma alone made my mouth water in anticipation of the drink.

Seattle’s Best claims that this is the darkest among their roasted coffee offerings, and it came across in the drink. You get a really strong and smoky coffee that I find quite delectable. The thing with this is, I think people who don’t normally drink coffee can appreciate it

It gives you that wake-up jolt without the dreaded after effects to the tummy. See, dark roast coffees like the French Roast don’t come off as a coffee with high acidity levels. So I think it’s a good choice for people will low tolerance to acidic beverages.

Those who are Fair Trade-conscious can rest easy because it comes in both Fair Trade and non-Fair Trade options. You also have the options to buy it ground or get it as a whole bean for you to grind at home.

I like it. It’s not something I’d frequently buy, but I definitely enjoyed the experience of drinking Seattle’s Best’s French Roast. How about you? Have you tried it? What did you think of it?

I’m starting things off with their Breakfast Blend. Breakfast is, after all, the most important meal of the day. And frankly, it’s the best time for me to drink my first coffee of the day. See, I tend to have difficulty getting up in the mornings, so a good breakfast coffee is essential to get my day rolling.

Shall we go on with the review?

A light to medium-bodied coffee, Seattle’s Best’s Breakfast Blend went down pretty well as I drank it. It had an intense flavor that gave me a good jolt. The rich taste paired with a slight sweetness made the drink a good choice for a morning coffee. It didn’t have that much acidity to it, so I was able to enjoy a good second cup after I downed the first one.

A slight disclaimer though. I say that this isn’t that acidic to my taste, but people with sensitive stomachs may not be able to take more than a cup of Seattle’s Best’s Breakfast Blend. I’ve gotten quite used to strong coffee so I’m accustomed to coffee with high acidity levels.

Before I forget, the Breakfast Blend also comes in organic variant, so people who are concerned about purchasing Fair Trade coffee can enjoy the smoothness of this drink, too.

You’ve probably had a cup of Seattle’s Best’s Breakfast Blend. How did you find it? I’d like to know how the coffee faired on your end.

I wished for a long time that someone would make one that wasn’t choosy when it comes to coffee pod sizes. That was until I came across the Bunn My Cafe MCP Coffee Maker.

A versatile piece of equipment, this is, as you can use any size of coffee pod in the market. Instead of your usual coffee pod holder, the package comes with a tray that you can use to make the machine accommodate a different size coffee pod.

To prove how versatile this machine, it can also make tea. It has a separate holder for making tea, so you don’t have to worry about your tea tasting like coffee or vice versa.

You can also adjust the brew size according to your preference. You can choose anywhere from a 4 to 12 oz cup. The water reservoir is also big enough to make more than one brew without having to refill it.

A lot of people don’t like how this machine looks, but the make appears sturdy to me. The color is classic enough, just your average silver and black. The drip area is pretty big so you can put it just about any size of mug you want for your coffee.

One of the bigger concern people have about the Bunn My Cafe MCP Coffee Maker is its price. It can be quite heavy on the budget. But I guess if you’re not afraid of spending a little extra for the quality, then this would be a nice piece of machine to own.

Of course I defended myself by saying it was intended to double as a hot water dispenser so I didn’t violate my coffee maker. It’s nice that it has an extra function like that. What I like most about it, though, is its versatility. It works with ground coffee, tea, and even coffee and tea pods.

The water reservoir can take about 12 oz. of water and heat it in a matter of minutes. It’s nice because it’s about the amount of coffee I take each morning. The cup holder in front pretty much fits most standard mugs.

I think it’s becoming a standard for most coffee machines to have an auto-shutoff function to avoid overheating the machine and wasting energy. Cleanup is also a breeze as the brew basket and permanent filter are both dishwasher-safe.

The only thing I didn’t like about this machine, though, is that it’s made of plastic. I am pretty much expecting this to last me a year at most. I hope my expectations will be exceeded, but I’m not counting on it much.

I’d like to call out on anybody else who has the West Bend Single-Cup Coffee Maker and Water Dispenser. How did it fair on your end? How is it holding up?

I was seriously in doubt that I’d like the machine when I first got it. It was so inexpensive that I thought it must be because of poor quality. Then again, I thought why would Black and Decker put its name on the line.

First up, the machine has an automatic shut off, so you don’t risk overheating the machine or wasting energy when you’re finished brewing. Also, it has removable, dishwasher-safe parts, which makes it easy to clean.

Using it is easy too. You simply fill the water reservoir with your desired amount of water, put the filter in the filter basket, add your desired amount of coffee, put a mug on the drip area, and hit start. You’ll know that the machine’s starting to work once you see the LED indicator turn on.

It’s a tiny coffee maker; it fits into a tiny nook in my kitchen counter. It’s design is quite simple and classic. However, what really ticks me off is the plastic they used for the machine. I’ve heard news that some parts warp after being exposed to the steam of the hot beverages for quite some time.

Any who, in terms of the coffee it produces, I have no complaints. It gave me just as good a coffee as any of my big-ass coffee makers. I guess this would be a great addition to my coffee maker collection. Let’s just see how long it’ll take before it starts showing signs of wearing out.
