Rotating a Drawing View

Sometimes one need to show a rotated view in the drawing. If is available in the standard view, once can simply place it as desired. If there is no view as required, one may go to part or assembly and create a new view orientation and then use that in the drawing. To avoid that one can simply rotate the drawing view as required.

1. Click on the view or select the view you want to rotate.

2. Click on Rotate View on the heads up tool bar or standard tool bar.

3. You’ll now see a Rotate Drawing View pop up window.

4. Fill in the desired angle value (I have used 90°). You can also key in a negative value.

5. Once you have keyed in the desired value, click on Apply and view will be rotated.

6. Then click on close to exit the command and you’ll have a rotated view.

One of the great things about being part of a technical group such as this one is the ability to share knowledge, ideas and friendship. I would like to kick of the sharing part!
I was asked to blog and my intention was to post a simple tutorial. However, I think a better use of our time would be to first establish where we stand in our collective knowledge of Solidworks. By doing this we will accomplish a few things:

1. Our meetings will be more focused and the audience engaged in the subject matter.
2. Blog Tutorials will actually be read and not found to be a waste of time for the user group and the blogger who took the time to prepare the material.

So as a member of the group who invests the time to participate in our meetings, take a few seconds and give your name. How many years of experience you have using Solidworks. And Finally, What you would most like to learn about the product.

Since, I'm here. I'll start the process.

Deleting a Row from General Table

This question came up on the SolidWorks Forums today and after answering it I thought of sharing it up.

You have inserted a General table in the SolidWorks drawing and accidentally added one extra Row. Now you want to get rid of that line. As usual you’ll right click on the specific Row you want to remove from the table and clicked on the Delete.

But to your surprise, you can only see the option to delete the entire table and no Row. You may feel bit frustrated with that.

Now here comes the trick to delete the Row from the General Table.

1. Click on Table and you’ll see some thing like in the picture below.

2. Click these small arrows to show the Table Header. (Check, the pointer has changed).

3. Your table should like this.

4. Click on the table again.

5. Select/ highlight the Row (by clicking on the number. See the color change). Now right click on the row number, go to Delete and select Row.

6. Hurray, the unwanted Row has gone. If you want to hide the table header, click on the table again. Now click on those small arrows (look at step 2) again and your header will hide.

Anyone know what happened to Tony Glockler, Channel Manager, SolidProfessor
David Ptak, President, SolidProfessor? They were to present a session called "Be Better at SolidWorks" and was a no-show as of 10:50.

I just cannot believe someone didn't show up for their own class.

so I have spent forever trying to find a good place where we could view, discuss, and have a good time on the net for the group. So, after trying linked in, facebook, twitter, blogging, and the website, SolidWorks came up with the concept of having the User Groups on the Community. A BIG thank you to them for that one!!!

So, I hope you enjoy and participate because I plan to pester you guys until you get on board :-P

At this time of year, most are putting up there Christmas trees, buying presents, figuring out what they are going to do for New Years.

I already have presents bought and everything figured out and I am just setting patiently waiting (actually not patiently) for SOLIDWORKS WORLD TO HURRY THE HECK UP AND GET HERE@@!! I am more excited about that than the other stuff.

(It's a really good thing my mom doesn't know how to read blogs)
