hello, lovelies. i wanted to come share with you today about my life lately. it’s been good, fun and rewarding but incredibly hectic. i feel as though i’m coming off the busiest month of my life, and though it’s about to slow down a little, we still have a lot going on. i’ve been trying to take things slowly, and soak in each moment one at a time, but if i’m honest it’s been hard. i’m especially trying to be mindful of my body and my baby (since i’m six months along now) and though i’m feeling great, i’m trying not to take advantage of it. quilt market was amazing, and one the biggest milestones in my creative career thus far. i wouldn’t trade it for anything, but i’m still trying to recover from the trip and sleepless nights of sewing that led up to it. equally as exciting (but crazy) is that david and i are officially homeowners! today will be the last day in our rental, and we’ll be sleeping in our new place tonight (i think). we’ll be busy painting, installing new floors and cleaning up the new place all week, then hopefully moving our furniture in by next weekend. we’ve got family close and lots of friends helping so don’t worry (mom), i won’t be lifting anything heavy!

though life is crazy and hectic and exhausting, i’m so thankful. thankful for being near family, thankful for a new home and thankful for new opportunities. i’m grateful for being healthy and for carrying a healthy baby. i’m so in love with my husband it hurts. i’m inspired to create new work and thankful for the opportunity to do so. we have a lot going on but it’s a fun season in our lives.

thank you so much for hanging out with me this week and thanks for baring with me as i’ve been a little preoccupied. i’m excited to be back and can’t wait to share with you more next week!

my mom is such a sweetie. she stenciled the entire back wall of my booth with my new falling daisies stencil. it was hard work but it turned out so pretty!

after only 3 short days, it was time to break down!

my first experience having a booth at quilt market was so fun and incredibly inspiring. i’m not sure that i know what to do with myself now that’s it’s over! i was able to meet so many lovely people and experience the joy of quilt market from a whole new perspective.

next week i’ll already be putting the finishing touches on my next collection for art gallery fabrics which will debut this fall. i’m so excited about it, i can’t wait to let you start seeing little tidbits of it!

*now that you’ve fallen in love with lacy and meg (and gluten free/vegan recipes!), meg is here to share one of her yummy recipes with us. she’s a dear friend of mine and on top of being an wonderful cook, she’s also an amazing photographer and inspirational writer. i don’t know about you, but i can’t wait to get home and make a batch of these bars!

Hello dears! I’m Meghan and I’m popping over from eat.live.make to share a yummy and easy gluten free (and vegan!) recipe with you all today. I love Bonnie to death, and am excited to get to share this recipe with you all today on Going Home To Roost.

If you’re like me, finding something I can eat on the run is hard when you are on a strict gluten free and vegan diet. These little granola bars are the perfect snack to take to work, the park, or on a hike. I usually make a batch at the beginning of each week, and my hubby and I munch on them all week long.

Ingredients:

-3 cups GLUTEN FREE quick cooking oats

-pinch of salt

-3/4 cup honey or combination of honey and Grade B maple syrup (you can also use agave)

-1/4 cup olive oil

–1/2 cup vanilla almond milk

(you can also add the following ingredients)

- dark chocolate OR enjoy life vegan chocolate chip cookies

-2 cups dried fruit such as mango, apricots, blueberries or raisins

-walnuts to give it a little crunch

Here’s What You’ll Do:

1. Preheat your oven to 350. Generously grease a 9×13 inch glass pan

2. Mix dry ingredients together. Add honey and vegetable oil. Add milk and blend well. Place in pan and flatten out with a wet spatula.

3. Place in oven and bake 25 minutes.

4. Remove from oven and cut into squares with a knife. Sprinkle top with salt (this makes it EXTRA yummy!)

5. Place pan back into the oven and bake for another 10-15 minutes.

6. Remove from oven and store in fridge for up to 2 weeks.
