			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Much has been made recently of the opportunities afforded by recent technology for parents to obtain cheap alcohol and drug testing facilities.  So are these a real boon to parents.  Is it a positive step being able to test your teenager for alcohol and drugs?  Instead of getting the surly automatic denial, is it not a genuine benefit to be able to get a definitive answer so that both parents and adolescents know whether drugs or alcohol are being consumed?</p>
<p>Do parents really need to use a testing kit to tell if their kids are using drugs.  True it can be difficult sometimes.  If we read the help books and information pamphlets that tell us the signs and symptoms of alcohol and drug use in adolescents we get a fairly comprehensive list.  The signs are that your teenager might have mood swings, might be withdrawn, disrespectful, verbally abusive sneaky, stay out late, neglect their appearance and be manipulative and self-centred.  No wonder it is difficult to tell whether adolescents are taking drugs as this list sounds just like a description of adolescents in general.  In fact one pamphlet suggests that signs of taking drugs are listening to loud music for hours and associating with strange friends.  Again sounds much like normal adolescent activities.  So for some parents the ability to test routinely or randomly must seem like the answer to their confusion, fears and problems but is it?</p>
<p>During adolescence the relationship between teenagers and parents often deteriorates as teens test the limits and boundaries set by parents.  They also practice being their own person being autonomous and making their own decisions.  Introducing a drug testing kit into this cauldron of seething hormones could cause far more problems than it solves.  Indeed, it does not require specialised equipment to detect most alcohol and drug use as it is fairly obvious, for example by the smell, lack of co-ordination and dilated pupils.  However lets look at a number of facts about drugs and alcohol.</p>
<p>Few adults reach the legal age of drinking without having had an alcoholic drink, unless they are lifelong abstainers.  If you are a parent reading this, did you drink before the legal age?  Be honest now!  Around half the population of the USA and UK under the age of 50 have tried drugs at some stage, but few actually continue and even fewer have tried harder drugs (eg about 10% have tried cocaine with about 1% using regular and 1% tried heroin with about 0.1% regular).  So having tried drugs does not mean addiction or even regular use.  It is also a myth that someone having used marijuana will necessarily go on to use harder drugs, the so-called gateway theory.  Some will and some will develop problems but the truth is in respect of both alcohol and drugs is that the majority of people who use them, do so without incurring any problems.  It is also true that, for most users, drug use and excessive alcohol use tend to be behaviours that people grow out of without any interventions.  Thus there could be a danger of over-reaction.</p>
<p>Even if the adolescent is does have a genuine problem it is generally recognised that there needs to be a trusting relationship between the user and any helper.  The introduction of a breathalyser or drug testing into the home could alienate the teen and erode any trust or make it more difficult to establish.  Where testing might be useful is when both parents and teen have agreed its use as a preventative measure.  For example if the teen has been using drugs and has developed a problem and wishes help, then parents can suggest that random testing can help.  In a negotiated situation as described testing can be beneficial but if imposed it can exacerbate any problem.</p>

Given that the body goes through many changes and hormonal challenges for nine months, it is no wonder that trying to lose weight after giving birth takes time, determination and patience.  Some women never got back their shape and weight of pre-pregnancy days.</p>
<p>Doctors recommend that in the first 6 weeks after delivery, new mothers should focus on getting the necessary rest and bonding with baby. According to doctors, in most cases, a return to pre-pregnancy body composition may take anywhere between nine months to a year.</p>
<p>There are many ways to shed off post natal flab and postpartum exercise is most often a better option than trying to diet.  Dieting is not sensible at this time, especially if you are breastfeeding.  Your body also needs the necessary nutrients to repair itself.</p>
<p>Your readiness to exercise is a function of pre-pregnancy fitness level and postpartum health status.  When you are ready to resume exercise after six weeks, ensure that you use a good support bra for comfort during exercise.  It should be a gradual and not a sudden and vigorous routine. Exercise should not cause any associated pain or any bleeding.</p>
<p>If you have adequate postpartum exercises as suggested below, it should aid a speedier return to your pre-pregnancy figure, increase your energy level to cope with demands of newborn baby.</p>
<p>1. Pelvic Floor Exercise<br />
Tighten your anus as thouigh you are trying to prevent yourself from passing urine.  Hold for 5 seconds and then relax.  Repeat 10 times.  Never do this while passing urine.</p>
<p>2. Pelvic Tilts<br />
Kneel on all fours with a flat back, and your hands and knees planted on the ground.   Curl your back towards the ceiling without shifting your body or moving your arms or legs.  You will feel your pelvis being pulled towards you and your back arched back.</p>
<p>3. Torso Stretch<br />
Stand with your feet hipwidth apart and holding your hands together.  Straighten arms above you such that you feel a gentle pull at the inner side of your arms.  Hold for 15 seconds.  Repeat for 5 times.</p>
<p>4. Chest Stretch<br />
Stand with feet hipwidth apart holding your hands together.  Straighten arms behind you such that you feel a gentle stretch at the front of your chest.  Hold for 15 seconds &#8211; repeat 5 times</p>
<p>5. Triceps Stretch<br />
Bend your left elbow behind your head and use the right hand to gently pull the left elbow in further until you feel  a stretch in the back of your arm.  Switch sides and repeat.</p>
<p>6. Back Stretch<br />
Clasp your hands together in front of you and round your back towards the floor, pressing your arms away from body to feel a stretch in your upper back.</p>
<p>7. Shoulder Stretch<br />
Bring your left arm across the front of your body.   Use your right forearm to pull the left elbow towards your ody, keeping the left arm extended.  Switch sides and repeat.</p>
<p>For women with C-section delivery, you are encouraged to walk as soon as possible to increase healing, circulation and minimise muscle wasting. When they are ready, they can also participate in the same exercise program as above.</p>

<p>However most of this miraculous weight loss products will not even present any actual proof that their product works, just a few shady testimonials and probably the display of some popular figure is more than enough to make people blindly believe in every word they say. Think of these next lines as a remainder, or as a wake up call, you really need to open your eyes if you are ever planning on losing some weight, if it was as easy as ingesting some pills for a few days, then there wouldn’t be overweight problems in the world, wouldn’t you agree?</p>
<p>Try to divert your mind from what you believe today, try to imagine the crude reality that life presents. People gain weight because of genetics, bad eating habits, lack of exercise, etcetera. The reason why you suffer from overweight is, most probably, one of the above, and guess what? It is not even your fault. Now, for the exercise, before you go to bed try a few abs and then some push ups, and when you wake up, do it a few minutes earlier and go running outside. Training routines of advanced bodybuilder are greatly different from that of a beginner. The differences in the training regimens include not only the weight being used, but the frequency of the lifting and usually the diet as well. An advanced bodybuilders physique can be a thing of beauty indeed and it can only be achieved through the use of incredible discipline and muscle building workouts designed to put the athlete in peak performance shape. Before we look at some of the characteristics of these advanced bodybuilding routines let&#8217;s first define what we mean when we say advanced bodybuilder.</p>
<p>The definition of an advanced bodybuilder can change from one person to the next. Some simply think of it as the time that someone has been working out. In this case, someone who has put four or five years into their bodybuilding regimen could be considered advanced, but other bodybuilders strongly disagree. After all, someone who has been working out for five years but has achieved little or no visible results would not likely be a candidate to be called an advanced bodybuilder. Instead, those with T-shirt ripping shoulders and biceps that earn the respect and admiration of everyone else in the gym clearly own this moniker. Getting there was no easy feat, so the term advanced bodybuilder should be relegated to the few who have achieved significant results. Speaking of significant results, now let&#8217;s look at some of the training routines of these advanced bodybuilders.</p>
<p>Once someone has achieved a physique of significant size and shape, their routines will likely roof all around the shaping and defining of these muscles versus simply the building of them. In the beginning stages, or bulking faces as they are often called, the focus was on putting on muscle. Now that the muscle has been developed, it will be important to define it and give it the best overall shape and quality possible. This is done through a combination of strict dieting and isolation sets. An isolation set is a particular exercise that spotlights one individual body part versus several at once. An arm curl using a dumbbell is a perfect example of an isolation set where as the squat is a compound movement that will kick several muscle groups at once.</p>
<p>Another important aspect in the routines of advanced bodybuilders is the types of diets that they are on to get into peak shape. Once someone has achieved the size they desire, they will want to cut every bit of body fat they can to even further highlight the clarity of their defined muscular physique. Those bodybuilders who are approaching an actual bodybuilding contest may go to such extreme lengths as to purge all water from their system as well. </p>
<p>The routines of advanced bodybuilders can be intense and at times extreme. BECAUSE of their experience and skill level, most bodybuilders know the inherent risks of such things as working out every single day and going on extreme fat burning diets to get into the best shape possible and do their best to minimize any negative side effects. One thing is for sure though, this lifestyle IS risky and advanced bodybuilder routines should ONLY be practiced by advanced bodybuilders.</p>

<p>It is one of those classic representations of American culture. I have grown up with it, loved it, consumed tons of it, and stood behind its red and white bottle as if it were part of our constitution. Coca-Cola started a revolution and single-handedly became one of the most successful companies in history. Sold in over 140 countries and to over 5.8 billion people who speak over 80 different languages, Coca-Cola is worth more than 58 billion dollars on the stock market. Carbonated drinks provide more added sugar in the average 2-year-old toddler&#8217;s diet than cookies, ice cream, and candies added together. 56% of 8-year-olds drink soda daily, and 1/3 of teenage boys drink at least 3 cans a day. 60% of all public and private high schools and middle schools nationwide sell soda. Daily calories from soda and fruit drinks nearly tripled from 1977 to 2001, and side effects of soda include weight gain, fatigue, and sugar dependency.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Atkins diet is based on changing the body’s metabolism and was launch by Dr. Atkins in the 1970’s. It includes a multi staged program for weight loss, weight maintenance, good health and disease prevention. In our normal balanced diet we have carbohydrates used as fuel, protein will build muscle and fats are stored as long term deposits in fat cells. What you must understand is that before burning fats your carbohydrates must be burnt and if your intake of carbohydrates is too high then fat burning will be prevented, therefore minimal weight loss occurs. The Atkins diet was one of the first “low carb” diets and is still one of the most extreme of its kind. The diet pushes the body to a fat burning metabolism where fats will be broken down and digested. Due to the low carbs in the diet the body has no choice but too burn the fats in the fat cells.</p>
<p>This article is going to investigate the Atkins diet menu where from there you can continue your research and come up with an Atkins diet menu plan for yourself.</p>
<p>The Atkins food pyramid places dietary emphasis on the protein sources as opposed to whole grain foods. The only limits that are placed are on the actual type of foods you can eat as opposed to the amount of foods you can intake. Foods that should be excluded include:</p>
<p>• White rice or foods made with white flour like cake<br />
• White bread<br />
• Potatoes<br />
• Pasta</p>
<p>Foods that you can include in your Atkins Diet Menu Plan are:</p>
<p>• Fish<br />
• Poultry<br />
• Red Meat<br />
• Eggs<br />
• Cheese</p>
<p>The above included foods are made up of mainly proteins and fats as opposed to carbohydrates. With these foods it doesn’t matter about the calories since the prime focus is on carbohydrate minimization.</p>
<p>The Atkins diet occurs in four phases and each phase will be a little different than the others. As you progress through the different phases you will find that the Atkins diet allows you an increase in carbohydrates but they will consist of mainly fiber-rich carbohydrates such as leafy greens and certain vegetables. You fill find that the first two weeks is very restrictive in that you are only allowed around 20 grams per day of carbohydrates. In this phase your metabolism is changing instantly to the fat burning mode. That is why the restriction is so tight initially. An example of a typical menu breakfast is two scrambled eggs, three slices of bacon and one slice of protein rich bread substitute. A tuna salad including celery, tomatoes, and an oil dressing could be an example of a lunch meal. Finally for dinner some grilled veal chops with butter and chopped sage, yellow squash and tomatoes, green salad and an after dinner snack could be a chocolate mudslide.</p>
<p>You will find that an average of five grams of carbohydrates can be increased until the dieter actually establishes their critical carbohydrate level for maintenance. Phase four, called &#8220;Lifetime Maintenance&#8221; is meant to be carried on indefinitely, as your appetite becomes re-educated and the low carbohydrate diet becomes natural.</p>
<p>Possible side effects of the Atkins diet are minimal but can include bad breath, which is a result of excess ketone production, and constipation. The diet itself is not that strict as only carbohydrate rich foods are eliminated and there is still a large selection of other food options. Many medical and nutritional communities believe that the diet is a temporary fix for the permanent problem of weight loss. Basically they are stating that limiting your carbohydrates intake for a large period of time is hard to maintain.</p>
<p>Some medical groups feel that potential long term health risks may be kidney stones, ulcers and repeated kidney infections. The fact the Atkins diet involves increased saturated fat may result in increased cholesterol which can ultimately lead to heart disease and stroke. So far, however, long term studies are inconclusive, and studies funded by the National Institute of Health and the American Heart Association have shown no increased health risks. Of course, before starting any diet, you should consult your doctor.</p>
<p>Overall while some may consider the strictness of the diet a drawback, Atkins dieters are quick to point out that only carbohydrates are restricted &#8211; leaving a large selection of other food options.</p>
