About Kailua-Kona

From Wikipedia

Kona is the name of a moku or district on the island of Hawai‘i in the State of Hawai‘i. In the current system of administration of Hawaii County, the moku of Kona is divided into North Kona District (Kona ‘Akau) and South Kona District (Kona Hema). The term “Kona” is also used to refer to its largest town, Kailua-Kona. Other towns in Kona include Kealakekua and Honalo.

Kailua is a census-designated place (CDP) in Hawaiʻi County, Hawaiʻi, United States, in the North Kona District of the Island of Hawaiʻi. The population was 9,870 at the 2000 census. It is the center of commerce and of the tourist industry on West Hawaiʻi. Its post office is designated Kailua-Kona to differentiate it from the larger, Kailua located on windward Oʻahu, although it is referred to as “Kona” in everyday speech. Many place names in the Hawaiian Islands are repeated on several islands, but the two Kailuas are the only confusing conflict in this regard. The city is served by Kona International Airport. Kailua-Kona was the closest major settlement to the epicenter of the 2006 Hawaiʻi Earthquake.

3M Safety and Security Window Film helps hold your glass in place during destructive weather conditions, bomb blasts, explosions, or smash and grab burglaries. It helps maintain the integrity of a structure’s outer shell to keep wind, rain and flying glass fragments from wreaking havoc inside the structure. Our films can also reject harmful UV rays, which cause fading and lower energy costs.

Video Demonstrations : Bomb Blast Demonstration

3M Safety and Security Films are one of the most vigorously tested window films out there. Windstorms, bomb blasts, flying objects, we have tested them all to make sure our films not only meet, but exceeds industry standards for impact and tear resistance. Our most durable system in severe conditions is the 3M™ Ultraflex system. This system combines the elasticity of the 3M Ultra Safety and Security Window Film and Dow Corning™ 995 Silicone Structural Adhesive system that creates a more flexible membrane to capture and absorb the impact energy.

3M Ultraflex Window System allows the frame to bend and twist to accommodate a variety of impact stresses, increasing safety from flying glass. For ease of use, the Ultraflex System offers a simple, more cost effective attachment system when compared to more bulky mechanical attachment alternatives. The Ultraflex System will replace the window gasket and blend with the frame system to look as good as the gasket it replaces.

Although its main job is protection, 3M Safety and Security Window Films can also alleviate sun control problems.
Putting your home in a better light

Inside and out, you’ve made a serious investment of both time and money in creating a beautiful home. Hawaii is a beautiful but expensive place to live. Yet, if the sun makes your home uncomfortable, hot or fades your furnishings, all your efforts will be diminished. With 3M Prestige Window Films installed by Total Eclipse, you can enjoy the benefits of a world class window film while leaving the beauty of your home virtually unchanged.

A New Standard Of Performance Metallic Films Can’t Match

Until recently, most window films have rejected heat were tinted dark, used metal or were highly reflective. Over the years, various other companies have tried to create a clear window film with mixed results. While they were able to achieve improved performance, their draw backs made them uncomfortable for most fine homes. Because these films used metal, they were susceptible to corrosion in coastal environments and interfered with mobile phone reception. Because 3M prestige window films use no metals, they are the first films to offer a variety of selections that eliminate these problems and perform to the highest standards in the industry.

With Prestige Window Films, your home exterior stays beautiful while from the interior, your view is as clear as your original window.

Reflectivity That’s Actually Lower Than Glass

One of the major draw backs of traditional window films is that they tend to act like mirrors. From the inside, traditional window films make it difficult to see outside, especially at night when interior lights are on. In the day time, the outside reflection tends to give a home the look of a commercial building. 3M prestige window films area a collection of four window films that have substantially reduced reflectivity. This premium line offers two styles of window films that can have less interior reflectivity than the glass they cover. The other styles have interior reflectivity that is just 1% greater than glass. So, at night, you’ll have a clear view out your windows.

Superior Heat Rejection Throughout The Day

For most people, there are two primary reasons for installing window films: rejecting heat to increase comfort and fade protection from damaging UV rays for furnishings. Prestige 3M Window Films do both remarkably well.

To measure just how impressive these films are, we created a more stringent specification for their performance: total solar energy rejected – on angle. This specification proves that our films are unsurpassed throughout the day and especially during the hottest times when you need the help the most. So, when the sun is working hardest, our films are performing the best.

While some films claim similar performance, the fact that their performance is only similar when tested perpendicular to the sun, which only can happen at the relatively cool times of sun rise and sun set. Our spectrally – selective films reject up to 97% of the sun’s infrared light to help keep your home cool and lower your energy bills.

3M Window Films are designed to reduce the effects of solar heat and visible light on your furnishings and will block up to 99.9% of the suns harmful ultraviolet rays, which are the single largest cause of fading. While no film can stop fading completely, our films dramatically slow the process of fading to keep your home looking beautiful.

Optically Clear, Technically Superior

Creating a clear window film with all these advantages wasn’t easy. It required the world leading nano – technology of 3M. Nano – technology works with materials that are over 1000 times smaller than the width of a hair. This expertise allows us to create a patented window film with hundreds of layers that is less than the thickness of a POST IT NOTE. It has allowed us to create a film that delivers the highest performance possible without metal, which can corrode and interfere with mobile phone signals.

3M Window Films allow you to bring light that enters your building under control. Our extensive line of films provides an elegant means for solving many of the most challenging aspects of managing the energy use of a building. 3M Safety and Security Window Films keep the potential for forced entry and weather damage in check.

3M Safety & Security Films

3M Safety and Security Window Film helps hold your glass in place during destructive weather conditions, bomb blasts, explosions, or smash and grab burglaries. It helps maintain the integrity of a structure’s outer shell to keep wind, rain and flying glass fragments from wreaking havoc inside the structure. Our films can also reject harmful UV rays, which cause fading and lower energy costs.

3M Safety and Security Films are one of the most vigorously tested window films. Windstorms, bomb blasts, flying objects, have all been tested to make sure our films not only meet, but exceed industry standards for impact and tear resistance.

3M Ultraflex Window System

3M Ultraflex Window System allows the frame to bend and twist to accommodate a variety of impact stresses, increasing safety from flying glass. For ease of use, the Ultraflex System offers a simple, more cost effective attachment system when compared to more bulky mechanical attachment alternatives. The Ultraflex System will replace the window gasket and blend with the frame system to look as good as the gasket it replaces.
