It’s been a busy week here in the Harris studio with our video team working flat out to produce some exciting new work.

We’ve been shooting a major new video for one of our clients that has seen us moving between locations and lighting some impressive looking fires in the process! There’s nothing quite like sticking your camera in a fire to get the creative juices flowing!

If that’s caught your attention, watch this space to see the finished product in the coming weeks!

‘Lilly’ was written by Brett and tells the story of an elderly woman living alone in what used to be a family home. The film follows her as her memory fades and, through the conversations she has with those around her, she considers whether she has lived a good life.

Brett has chosen to fund the film via the crowdsourcing platform ‘Kickstarter’ and is putting his social media expertise to good use to promote the film!

Our client Johnstone’s has sponsored the Football League Trophy for the past seven seasons and has helped it to become one of the most colourful occasions on the football calendar. The showpiece final at England’s national football stadium not only provides a great day out for the fans of both teams in the final and Johnstone’s key customers, but also for members of the trade press who can enjoy a first-hand look at how the paint brand is raising the profile of the competition.

Guy hosted the journalists throughout the day and was on hand to talk them through new product developments from the brand and answer any questions they had about the sponsorship or the brand in general. Perhaps, even more impressively, he managed to show enough restraint to not run onto the pitch at half-time and realise a lifetime’s ambition!

Members of our dynamic video team were in Reading last week shooting for a film about the construction of the new rail station.

With the work of one of our major clients adorning the building, it was up to our award-winning team team to capture the work in its best light. Through a series of day and night shoots we’re confident we’ve got the shots that will really make the station shine.

Watch this space for updates on the progress of the film and to see some exclusive ‘behind the scenes’ imagery.

Guy presented the award for ‘Best Campaign Under £25,000’ to Door-Stop International at last year’s Construction Marketing Awards and was as surprised as anyone to see his face glaring out from inside the pages of The Times.

Here at Harris Associates, where going the extra mile for clients is just another day at the office, our intrepid photography and video team think nothing of travelling the length and breadth of the country in search of the perfect shot. Often requiring an overnight stay on their travels, the dedicated duo shun big chains, preferring to stay in smaller, independent hotels instead, which can make for some interesting stories! So they’ve decided to document their adventures in a brand new blog whilst also providing handy hotel reviews.

The scheme, which is aiming to cut energy consumption by making homes and business premises more efficient, was officially launched by the Department of Energy and Climate Change on Monday.

Home and business owners can now apply for a loan to cover a range of improvements including insulation, double and triple glazing, installation of a new boiler, draught-proofing, fitting a new front door and even installation of wind turbines or solar panels. The loan, which remains with the property not the owner, is then paid back through future energy bills while the “golden rule” of the scheme is that the cost of repayment for work carried out must not outweigh the energy cost savings.

In theory, the scheme will not only help the environment (and help towards 2020 carbon targets) but will also benefit home and business owners with reduced energy bills, and stimulate growth within the construction industry. Along with our clients, we’ll be monitoring the scheme’s progress closely and will be hoping it has a positive effect on the construction industry.
