Fun Fun Fun Fest made its first appearance on a cold Austin Friday evening at Waterloo Park in 2006. It was a unique approach to festival booking...filling stages with what is bubbling from the underground, what sounds great, and what is making an impact, regardless of what Pollstar or the mainstream media said was cool. What started out as a show for a few touring acts and local favorites became a movement, and a festival that fans and bands alike realized needed to be experienced year after year.

Rocker TRENT REZNOR is urging all musicians to follow in his footsteps and ditch their record labels.

Reznors band Nine Inch Nails broke away from their deal with Universal in 2007, after a tempestuous relationship with the music giant.

The singer describes the experience as "liberating" - insisting big labels make too much money from musicians and are completely out of touch with the industry.

The Airborne Toxic Event recently signed with Island Def Jam, part of the behemoth major Universal Music Group. The signing happened on the crest of a surging "Sometime Around Midnight," a track that has been making waves across radio, television, and online formats.

Digital Music News featured Airborne ahead of their Def Jam deal, based partly on the "Sometime" growth curve. At the same time, another band - Far - was also featured, thanks to an explosive cover of Ginuwine's "Pony," a song that quickly spread across online and radio channels. Click continue to read more.
