Fall time snow!

Winter seems to be starting early this year! We had a cold blast in early October and now, the last week, snow has continued in the mountains surrounding West Glacier. The Glacier Outdoor Center crew spent many hours this fall mowing and preping the ski trails for the upcoming ski season. Now we just need snow in the valley floor. We will keep you updated as conditions change.

Well, we’ve had the first snow of the season and our ginzugroomer is aching to buff out the trails. It’s not much longer now before we sill be offering classic and skate skiing in one of the most beautiful settings imaginable. Preping for winter

I know winter is still a couple of months off, but we are starting our prep for our ski trail system. Last year we added a couple of km of new trails and this year we are adding more. A new map will be available soon. We are also enhancing and cleaning up our existing system. This season we are planning at least three events. Our annual open house/ski free day will be the first week of January. Next we will again have a fundraiser doggie skijoring race to benefit the local Humane Society and finally we are hosting the Western States ski festival for Junior Nordic racers the 27th & 28th of February. Look to our calendar of events to get the latest as we go into fall.

Summer is quickly coming to an end. Kids are headed back to school. River guides are off to their next jobs or college and the Glacier Outdoor Center is offering some incredible deals on rental and demo gear! Water levels holding

A cooler spring along with a cooler summer and an occasional rain storm has helped to keep water levels at a normal level this summer. Great boating and excellent fishing so far this summer.

Paddle Frenzy

As river levels drop during the summer many paddlers give up a ride in a raft for a craft that is more agile and thrillseeking. Inflatable kayaks, whitewater canoes and of course hardshell kayaks make for a great play time on the river. Glacier Outdoor Center rents them all! Try an inflatable with a guide nearby or demo a whitewater canoe on your own. It’s all fun when you get a chance to get on the river.

A big thank you to all you up and coming fishermen for attending my fly fishing class last week! We raised $170 for the Hooked on Fishing Program through FW&P!!! yea! Thanks!

Rivers are on their way down for the season. We have had some great fishing lately and it will only get better as we move closer to August. With the flows dropping, more holding water and warmer water temps only improve the fishing. Some great dry fly action is occurring on both the Middle and North forks of the Flathead.
