<br>Event Description: The City of Lawrence will hold an open house on Wednesday, February 1 at the Santa Fe Station, 413 E. 7th Street, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. The meeting is being held to discuss the possibility of relocating city transit offices to the Santa Fe Station (Amtrak/BNSF depot). By relocating city transit services to this location, Santa Fe Station would become the downtown hub for the city transit service.
KDOT, in cooperation with the city, received a grant through the Federal Railroad Administration to develop construction-ready plans that would establish how the depot would be restored. The architect working on this project would also like to hear from neighbors and residents about the depot prior to developing these plans.
“It is important that we hear from the public and the neighborhood about possible plans for the depot,” said Diane Stoddard, assistant city manager. “Their input is invaluable for both the considerations for restoration and the possibility of creating a transit hub.”
