Going thru the "what's new" section, It looks quite disappointing:

1. The "Construction Modelling" (parts and assemblies) feature looks interesting, but still no steel framing connection macros. I believe this is the biggest missing feature in Revit Structure. I tell Australian mining clients Revit Structure is not the BIM package for you.
2. The model linking and Revit server updates look promising for big projects with may modellers.
3. I still believe the 2d tools could be improved and made more flexible.
4. Why hasn't Autodesk made a 3d warehouse similar to how google sketchup works, I know there is seek but it is very limited.
5. Overall not very excited about the latest release.

You can see in the image below. the text should be central to the grid circle. My previous work we filed them by the material. steel, concrete etc. My current work I am filing Revit Families by the categories Revit uses (See image below). I have found this an easier system, Why? The thinking to find a family inside the Revit Project Browsers is similar to how I would think to find a family thru the directory structure.

Filing of families.png

Some of the larger Revit Categories I break up by type at the second level. For example "Structural Framing" contains directories "Concrete" "Steel" and "Timber". However I only do this a little bit.
All the families have long descriptive file names. For example "Australian UB Unviersal Beams.rfa" can be found under "Structural Framing" > "Steel". I like to use longer descriptive names for my families because I get better results using the "search" feature of windows explorer.

That's what I do. How about you? What are you filing techniques?

This is what Autodesk Labs have to say about it:

Autodesk® Project Vasari is an easy-to-use, expressive design tool for creating building concepts. Vasari goes further, with integrated analysis for energy and carbon, providing design insight where the most important design decisions are made. And, when it’s time to move the design to production, simply bring your Vasari design data into the Autodesk® Revit® platform for BIM, ensuring clear execution of design intent.

Project Vasari is focused on conceptual building design using both geometric and parametric modeling. It supports performance-based design via integrated energy modeling and analysis features. This new technology preview is now available as a free download and trial on Autodesk Labs.

Read more at: http://labs.autodesk.com/utilities/vasari/

It is a free resource of plants, trees, people, animals, planes, helicopters, cars, and signs to use in your CAD drawings. Yes the entourage that goes with the main event! I sometimes use these AutoCAD blocks in Revit as 2d detail families

Heres a few samples of what you can get from this website:

A very useful resource to give your 2d drawings that "pow" factor.
