Thatâs my story with the Dates Fruit. During my service year in the north, I had dates all around me, very cheap, very abundantly available but I never liked them. People said it was very sweet, contains all sorts of things, blah, blah, blah! But the moment I tasted it, I never had another bite. I donât know, maybe itâs just my taste buds but I didnât just like it, after all it is said that one manâs meat is another manâs poison</span></div><br /><div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 8pt;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">So I get to one of my favourite blogs and the food profile she is talking about is Dates (you can read about it <a href="http://www.dobbyssignature.com/2015/01/date-fruit-food-profile.html#more" target="_blank">HERE</a>) and am like OMG! Not again! But I still read it anyway and what intrigued me is vitamins and minerals found in Dates. So my creative mind got thinking, how can I enjoy dates? So I did a little search online and found this milk dates recipe. Its simple milk infused with dates. Now have I ever told you I love milk? Ok I do. I really do. Like really so very much do. lol.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Anyways now I love dates, imagine me looking for dates in the market. The flavour is so unique and out of this world. I was like wow! And because dates has sugar (if your diabetic please take note), you dare not add sugar because the milk will be incredibly sweet after the dates has been infused in it.</span></div><br /><div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 8pt;"><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">All you need is:<o:p></o:p></span></b></div><br /><div class="MsoListParagraphCxSpFirst" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt 36pt; Apparently someone had brought bananas for him at the office but his secretary forgot to hand to him until a day or two later I guess. I stared at so much bananas and wondered what to do with them. I hate to waste food and apart from banana pudding (coming up later), I didnât know what to do with them so I resorted to google for help and BOOM!! I found this recipe. I also found out that you could freeze bananas for a long while and they wonât get spoilt. So I got down to business, hehehehe. I washed, peeled and then froze them in a nylon bag and used them for this recipe whenever I wanted.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">After I found this recipe, soft bananas which would normally find it way straight to the dustbin took a 360 degree turn and headed for my blender. So my friends, time to use up those bananas, in fact the more ripe, the better the taste. I personally havenât seen someone who I served this shake and didnât say something good about it (apart from can I have some more, hehehe). It tastes like ice-cream.Hmmmmm!!!</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">I serve this shake COLD. I donât think you would enjoy it otherwise and I do this by using cold water and ice cubes to prepare it. If you donât have an ice cube tray, you could totally freeze a sachet of pure water and break the block to pieces and use it. Be careful though!</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">I usually do not store this shake. I make it on the go and finish it immediately, however if you want to refrigerate, probably not more than a day and donât be scared when the banana changes colour, it always does that, lol.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">Now there is no straight rule regarding this recipe. It all depends on personal preference. For example, the more the banana, the thicker the shake would be and the more water the lighter it would be. Also note that you could add sugar if you have a sweet tooth. I personally do not add sugar though, but my sisters always do.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">You can also adjust the shake by adding more milk or more banana. I always prefer a more milky taste so I usually add extra milk as the case may be.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">If you are using liquid milk, then the water would be less.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">For this milkshake I used:</span></div><br /><ul><li style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">2 small over-ripe banana (if your banana is bigger, you can use only one.</span></li></ul><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-FrjXNPcUD4Q/VQiQKkFYSzI/AAAAAAAAADU/78hPqfEooTU/s1600/P1020419.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-FrjXNPcUD4Q/VQiQKkFYSzI/AAAAAAAAADU/78hPqfEooTU/s1600/P1020419.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div><ul><br /><li style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">Milk powder or liquid milk</span></li><li style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">Sugar/Honey (optional)</span></li><li style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">Water</span></li><li style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">Ice cubes.</span></li></ul><br /><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">Thatâs it! Do you agree with me? However this is the scarcest word ever!<o:p></o:p></span></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: large;">As easy as the word <i>Please</i> is, some folks can never say it. Period! I think kind words are essential to good living. Yeah, yeah! I know the person is not your mate or you are years ahead of your colleague, etc. however it does not take anything to say âPlease pass me that penâ or âPlease kindly get me something downstairsâ or âPlease type this letterâ etc. Let us consider the these two sentences;<o:p></o:p></span></div><ul><li><span style="text-indent: -18pt;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: large;">Get me water</span></span></li><li><span style="text-indent: -18pt;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: large;">Please get me water.</span></span></li></ul><br /><div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: large;">What do U think? One sounds more polite than the other. The first sounds more like a command abi? Well as you can see, the only difference between the two sentences is the first word, please. Please does not hurt so always add it to your sentences as it sometimes take the tension of people. It even presents you as a courteous person.<o:p></o:p></span></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: large;">Next up is <i>Thank you</i>. Have you ever heard it being said that so and so is ungrateful? The reason is because she/he didn't say thank you. Unfortunately gratitude shows in our character much more than the words of mouth, because you can totally say thank you and then act ungrateful such as murmur, frown, hiss etc. So it goes more from the heart than from the lips. Yeah I know people that expect more than a thank you for helping you but be thankful anyway. Being thankful for the life that you have because no matter your condition someone wants to be like you. Think about it! Be thankful to God that you are alive when you wake up every morning. Some folks would pay all their wealth just to be alive like you and they are not.<o:p></o:p></span></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: large;">Now to the word <i>Sorry!</i> I have seen people who the sky will literally fall down if they said sorry!! I mean it is that bad. Husbands and wife can be quarreling for days and they are both waiting for who will first say sorry. Such a little 5 letter word with a strong influence on people. For crying out loud, even the hardened sometimes melt at the word sorry. Now picture the scenario on the streets of Lagos. One car hits the other car and the person at fault has realized if he says am sorry he will eventually incur expenses on the other person car, he simply flares up and refuses to say am sorry and claiming that he is not wrong. That simply argument of âYou hit my carâ, âIt is not meâ, âIt is your faultâ and so on can take hours, blocking traffic (Oh my goodness!). If only one person could say âI am sorry, i was carried awayâ or âI wasn't lookingâ. People have different reasons for not saying am sorry. It may be pride, a sense of seniority (elder cannot say sorry to younger, parent canât say am sorry to children, oga canât say am sorry to staff and so on), it is not my fault syndrome (especially in relationships) and so on.<o:p></o:p></span></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: large;">Some men who never saw their father say I am sorry to their mother see it as a taboo (an abomination) to apologise to their wives. Some men will rationalize, analyse, deliberate, think, search, enquire and find reasons before they will eventually say I am sorry. They just canât simply say sorry for no reason. Sometimes it looks like the first to say I am sorry is the coward, whereas it is not. It takes humility and the fact that you value your relationships to be the first to apologise especially when you are the offended.</span></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: large;">Good friends have kept malice for years because none of them value the relationship to the extent of throwing in the towel first by saying am sorry. Some people have been seriously hurt and abused by people and have waited for so long those people to come to their senses and just apologise for really hurting them. But they have waited in vain. Friends if you are in this category itâs time to let go and move on. Forgive them and let go of the hurt.</span></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: large;">In a nutshell, I believe we should train ourselves to daily inculcate this words in our daily routine. That way people will love to hang around us. If these words are not in your dictionary at all, please put them in. Start to say it.<o:p></o:p></span></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: large;">Each and every day when we find opportunity to use these little words, Lets grab it and use it abundantly. Let us let go of pride and the likes and live a good life.<o:p></o:p></span></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><br /><div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: large;">Cheers to Good living!</span></div>Wifeonamissionhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07170124038242952475noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5336729472660690144.post-4131563417256393462015-02-11T12:08:00.000-08:002015-02-23T11:23:37.849-08:00First of all<div style="text-align: justify;"><em><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Hi people,</span></em></div><div style="text-align: justify;"></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><em><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></em><em><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Welcome to my Blog!!</span></em></div><div style="text-align: justify;"></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><em><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></em><em><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I decided to do this after so much procrastination (*wipes sweat*), lol.
