Are you feeling the cold? Cause I know I am especially this morning when I was on my bike riding to the golf club where I found some hearty souls playing golf. Are they crazy? I figured no they had just accepted that winter is here and best we get out and enjoy it while it lasts. A good game is a fast game. Some of the fastest rounds of golf I have ever played have been in winter funnily enough.

DID YOU KNOW?

Leather Mashie: An ancient term indicating that a player or caddie has used his shoe to improve the lie of their ball.

Plus fours: Golf trousers quaintly but cunningly designed by Scottish players to prevent a replacement ball being dropped through a hole in the pocket, down the trouser leg and thence to the ground.

Arnold Snead’s: World’s best golf book ever

HOW MANY CALORIES YOU BURN IN A ROUND OF GOLF?

A study carried out by Neil Wolkodoff’s had some interesting findings:

There was virtually no difference in calories burned between carrying (721) and using a push cart (718) — a surprising result to many, who figured it would take more work to push the cart.

Not surprisingly, walking the course with a caddie carrying the clubs burned fewer calories (613) and playing while riding in a cart burned even fewer (411).

For those of you not so familiar with calories, a peanut slab has about 282 Calories and a Feijoa has 49 calories.
