American Idol Sucks this Year

What is going on with this season? Has all of the good singers in America come out in the previous seasons and now we are left with the semi-talented singers this year? Now granted, they can all sing WAY better than I do, but still. I literally feel like I am listening to nails on the blackboard at times. Not to mention...a couple of them are really hard to look at, style wise. A mullet? Bowl cut? I haven't seen hairstyles like that since I was in elementary school...back in the 80s!!

And Ellen...I like her...shoot I email her show ALL.THE.TIME. But I am totally not digging her as an Idol judge. It's hard to listen to her give advice and listen to her critique the singers when she is a talk show host and comedian. I think it's because I am used to seeing Ellen look relaxed and happy. She seems so uptight and share rarely smiles (though that could be because of the lack of talent).

Celtic Woman 4 REVIEW

Not too long ago, I had the opportunity to review and giveaway a copy of the Celtic Woman Songs from the Heart CD and it has become one of my favorite CDs. Mainly because I don't own anything like it. So when I want to listen to something different, that is the first CD I go to. Shortly after that review, I was contacted and asked if I would like to review another Celtic Woman CD.

Celtic Woman 4 is part of a series of CDs that began in 1998 and was released this past February 2nd.

Now I gotta say dawg, this CD wasn't my favorite...OK I am done pretending I am Randy from American Idol. Seriously though, I like the CD, however not as much as Celtic Woman Songs from the Heart.

I didn't watch the Oscar's the other night. Which is kind of odd for me...usually I make my husband sit through them (the way he is making me sit through his annoying video game when I would rather be watching Grey's Anatomy from last week), but last night I sort of passed out on the couch and pretty much missed the whole awards show. But that's OK because the ladies of The View gave a really nice run down of what went on! Anyone else see it?

I have to say, I am rather obsessed with the Gosselin family. I loved watching Jon & Kate Plus 8, and now that the media pretty much hates Jon Gosselin, I love reading all the gossip about him, though I could totally do without seeing pictures of his tiny manhood. No wonder he and Kate needed a little extra help in the baby making department! Anyways, back to my obsession. I can't wait to see Kate co-host. I missed the other time she was a co-host so I am glad to see her this Friday.

Finally! Jon Gosselin Getting What He Deserves!!

It has been reported that Jon Gosselin has been asked or will be asked to pose nude for Playgirl.

I'll wait until you're done laughing! No it's OK. You can keep laughing. I don't mind!

Now I don't know what's funnier. The amount of money Jon Gosselin was offered to do the shoot, which was a measly $20,000 or the fact that Kate Gosselin probably still has his balls hanging from her rearview mirror. I guess it doesn't really matter. Either thing makes the whole shoot a joke. On one hand you have this reality show star (and I use the term star loosely) taking off all his clothes for $20,000 when other douche bags like Levi Johnston were paid $100,000. And on the other hand, you have the ball-less Jon Gosselin posing nude. It's a win-win situation when it comes to humor! Oh and don't forget that Jon's ex-wife, Kate Gosselin was asked to pose nude for Playboy with a paycheck starting around $400,000! Which she turned down, stating it wouldn't be appropriate for the children.

I've posted before about how disgusted cheaters are to me. And I never understand when spouses take back their cheating significant other. I know I'm not in that situation so that's probably why I can't understand it, but I have to say, I am glad Kate kicked Jon's ass to the curb. While life may be harder for her with the children, it is definitely better for everyone involved. Just the little bit we got to see of their relationship with their father when it was his time at the house, showed us that things changed dramatically. Jon Gosselin went from fun dad to asshole dad.

That man does things for me that, as a happily married woman, I should be ashamed of...but I'm not! Shoot it's no different than my husbands Teri Hatcher, back in the Lois and Clark days, fantasies. Only mine involve a sexy vampire and an accent!

Playful Threads REVIEW

As most moms (and dads) know, after you've been married awhile, had kids...the time you have left for you is pretty much done. Especially couple time. Who in the world has time, let alone the energy, to be intimate with their spouses at the end of the day? So when I was asked if I wanted to review playfulthreads.com, I was like "um...yea!". It has been AGES since I've worn, let alone purchased, lingerie. I mean who wants to take their kids with them to the lingerie store? Definitely not me!

So as I was saying, I was given the opportunity to review Playfulthreads.com. They let me choose ANYTHING from their site under $30. I thought about getting about getting the crotchless thong, but then remembered that my mother in-law reads my blog and well...I really don't want to be sitting across from her at dinner one night with her wondering if I was wearing the crotchless thong or not. But if you're into that kind of thing, definitely check it out! It's so pretty! And the description says it's stretchy (which I'm sure that with the nature of the item, stretch is a good thing)! If Only He Would Listen

My son, from the time he was a few months old, was always good for a laugh. Whether he was making a hilarious sound when he ate food he liked or laughing hysterically at himself, we were never without an opportunity to have a good time around him. Sometimes our opportunities to laugh at with him were because he just plain did not listen to what we told him.

One particular time, I was on the phone and my son, who was 3 at the time, was calling "mom, mom, mom" over and over again. He waned me to pick him up and put him over the gate so he could get something out of his room. Of course, he just couldn't wait until I was off the phone. I even told the person I was talking with to hold on and said "Zachary please wait until I get off the phone and then I will pick you up". Do you think he listened? Of course not. I hung up the phone a few minutes later, turned around, and this is what I found:

Of course I did what any mom would do and ~~got him out~~ picked up the camera and took a picture!!! I mean how could I not? For some reason he thought he would be able to fit under the gate. Obviously you can see he didn't!

Write it Down Baby!

There is nothing more important in our life than our memories. We can't be expected to remembered everything and that's where the company, Journals Unlimited comes in handy. They are the LARGEST company of themed journals that help people remember those precious moments. With over 60 titles, there is definitely something for everyone. My favorite is the All 50 States journal. I think it would be totally cool to get that journal and visit all of the 50 states with my kids and husband. How nice would it be to able to journal about our trip as we are taking it? It sure would make my scrapbooking much easier since I can't manage to keep up to date!!

I have the "Honey - Between Me & You" journal and I am hoping to follow the prompts and have it all filled out by May to give my husband on our anniversary. This journal is filled with a bunch of questions like "What do I do that really makes you happy?", "How did you know we were meant to be together", and many many more questions. One journal I would like to get is the "Grandma - Between Me & You" and give it to my mother inlaw to fill out for my kids. I am sure she would have a ton of cool things to write in there!!!

The Lovely Bones Movie Disaster

Director Peter Jackson should be absolutely ashamed of his latest project, The Lovely Bones. He absolutely ruined an excellent story written by Alice Sebold. First and foremost, the movie starts out unbelievably slow and boring. For people who did not read the book beforehand, I could truly see them confused as hell with what is going on in the movie. It jumps around from one scene to another and the editing is an absolute mess. Half the time the scenes don't match up. For instances, at the end of the movie, the mother is shown with short hair. In the very next scene her hair is long, but...you guessed it, in the very next scene, her hair is short again. Like I said, editing was a mess.

My husband and I don't get out to the movies very often and it sure makes me angry to have wasted $19 on tickets for such a let down of a movie. It's movies like this one that make me wish they would not try and adapt books to the big screen. And maybe it's not solely Peter Jackson's fault. Maybe the author, Alice Sebold didn't have enough say in the script, which shame on her if that is true. I would never allow a book I have written and published, to become such a mess of a movie.

I really hope they don't make a movie from the book The Shack. That is my absolute most favorite book and I would hate to see it ruined with a shitty script and amateurish editing.

So if you haven't seen The Lovely Bones, don't waste your money. It's not even worth renting on DVD. Hell, it's not even worth watching if you were given the movie and offered $10 to watch it. It's that bad people.

Sookie Stackhouse Series

Anyone else reading this series?? I just finished the final book (can't wait until May for the next one!!) and I have to say, I absolutely loved it! If you aren't sure who I am talking about, the Sookie Stackhouse series is a southern vampire series and the HBO hit series, True Blood is taken from those books. Check out the Sookie Stackhouse 8-copy Boxed Set . I highly recommend getting the box set. They are a quick read, and if you are like me, you will want to quickly move on to the next one!

All the way from book one, I have held on to hope that Sookie would return to Bill. I just like him. I don't know why. Then I went through a phase where I couldn't stand Bill and was so glad that she was over him. Until book eight. I am back in the "awe Bill" camp. No one loves her like he does. I think Eric thinks he does, but I don't know if he truly does. What do you think? Who are your favorite characters? What have you liked/disliked so far?

When I was asked if I would like to try out the Lysol Healthy Touch No-Touch Hand Soap System I have to admit, I almost said "no thanks". Boy am I glad I didn't turn this opportunity down!!

This package couldn't have come at a better time. I was making chicken for dinner, and normally I wear gloves when I have to touch chicken. I can't STAND to get things on my hands, especially chicken juices. Of course I didn't have any gloves so I had to touch the chicken with my bare hands. It was so nice to be able to walk over to the soap dispenser, put my hand under it and not have to touch the soap and get chicken juices on it!

The antibacterial soap kills 99.9% of the following bacteria:

E.coli
Strep
MRSA
VRE
Pseudomonas
Staphylococcus

The nice thing is, the dispenser came with 1 8.5oz hand soap and 4 AA batteries! You don't see too many things coming WITH the batteries anymore! The suggested retail price for the dispenser with the soap and batteries is $14.99. Anytime you need a refill soap, it's only $3.99! One of my worries, when I accepted this review was how much a refill soap was. But $3.99 is not bad at all and Lysol always has coupons in the papers! The refill scents are:

Soothing Cucumber Splash
Cleansing Green Tea & Ginger
Refreshing Grapefruit Essence

Figure Skating Men

OK. Now I will admit, what I am about to type is probably not gonna be the most popular thing, but I just can't keep it in any longer. I've sat here all night watching the Olympics, men's figure skating, to be exact. I really don't get it. They're good...even when the announcer says they screwed up their jumping cow or whatever it's called (yes I know it's called a sow cow...though I am not sure it's spelled that way, but we'll go with that spelling for now). I think anyone who is able to wear a shoe with a tiny blade and the move around on ice and jump and twirl, is amazing. But I just don't get why men want to do it. Why do they want to wear skin tight clothes that sparkle?

And then they go and interview the skater and ask him if he can get the gold and he responds with "I hope so"...good answer. But he totally screws that up by following up with "it doesn't really matter. I just want to have fun". That's all fine and dandy to have fun and one could say, "wow what a nice attitude he has", but come on people! This is the Olympics. You are there to WIN. You can have fun skating on the pond back home. I am all for good sportsmanship. Seeing competitors shake hands after a race is awesome. I love that shit. But I also want to hear the truth. I want to hear "dammit, I'm here to win".

While I am off on my tangents, I'll also say, I don't get men's gymnastics either. Things like the rings, that's kind of cool to watch them do, but floor routine? Not so cool to me. And then we have those tight costumes again that are so distracting. Believe me, I understand why they need to be tight. Shoot when I was growing up, I was a competitive swimmer and at that time the boys wore those itty bitty ~~banana hammocks~~ Speedo's. I get why things have to be tight. It's just weird. It was weird when I was growing up and competing in swimming and it's still weird to me. Some may say I just need to grow up, which is probably the truth! Ha! But back to gymnastics. What really weirds me out the most is how high pitched those Hamm brothers voices are. It totally sounds like they have their balls wrapped around their head in a bow. And we know it's totally related to the gymnastics and probably all the working out they have done at such a young age. Hopefully they go through puberty soon and gain a higher pitched voice.

On a different note. My daughter informed me today that she wants to be an Olympic snow boarder. Somehow I can totally picture that with her. Maybe not the Olympics, though that would be cool, but I could picture her really enjoying snow boarding!

Celtic Women CD Review and GIVEWAY!!!

I just LOVE when I get asked to review a CD and it is music that does not include the alphabet or dog name Bingo, etc! Celtic Woman is like no other CD I have ever owned.

Celtic Woman is an female group who have rose to fame without the normal things to aid their sales such as radio time or video airplay. Instead, they have connected and kept fans through their many PBS specials, live tours, and encouraging their fans to share their love for Celtic Woman with their friends and family.

This past Christmas, Celtic Woman performed at the National Tree Lighting in Washington D.C. with Sheryl Crow, Common, and Jordin Sparks. As if that wasn't enough, they were also asked to perform on Dancing with the Stars!!

What I really liked about this CD is their take on some popular songs like Billy Joel's "Goodnight My Angel", Mariah Carey's "When You Believe" and Sting's "Fields of Gold". The CD also has some Irish Classic's as well. Though I have to say, their rendition of "Amazing Grace" is my absolutely favorite. My daughter really liked it and I think we have listened to it over and over and over again (when we aren't listening to Alvin and the Chipmunks...see why I was so excited to get an adult CD!). Be sure to check out their 2010 tour schedule to see if they are coming to a city near you!!!

It would really be nice if people would learn to just mind there own business. I was picking my son up from school the other day. Bella and I pulled into the parking lot earlier than normal and got the spot right outside the door of my son's class. Bella begged me to stay in the car because she wanted to listen to the Alvin and the Chipmunks CD I bought them and she hates the bitter wind. Since I was literally feet away from my sons door and could see every aspect of my car at all times and was able to lock the doors and use remote start to let her listen to her CD, I told her she could stay so long as she stayed completely buckled in her carseat.

As my son and I are walking back to the car, I noticed a woman in her 60's hanging out next to my car. At first I thought she was just standing there so her grandchild could see her. Boy was I wrong. As soon as I unlocked my car, the woman pounced. Telling me she couldn't believe I left her in the car that long; spewing threats like "if Child Services were involved, you would care"; and accusing me of leaving a child in the car WITH the keys for 15 minutes.

Now...I live in an area where we get LOTS of snow, the wind is bitter cold. No one in their right mind stands outside for 15 minutes waiting for their child. Furthermore, if you remember, I left Bella in the car with the REMOTE start and my remote start only keeps the car running for 10 minutes. The car was STILL running when I got back. Therefore, Bella was not left in the car for 15 minutes or more, she was not left in the car with the car keys, and the car was not unlocked at all. Miraculously I was able to stay calm and basically told the woman to back off.

I mean seriously...I was no farther away from my car than I would be if I was dropping movies off in the drop box. I have never seen someone take their kids out of the carseats to drop off movies. If I was out of site of my car, Bella would have come with me. If I had to go into the school, Bella would have come. People just need to learn to mind their own business. I understand that she didn't agree with me leaving her there, that's fine. I don't agree with what everything everyone does with their kids either, but to threaten child services, ridiculous. Anyone who knows me knows that I am a very good and conscientious mother to my children. But to have someone say that to me, in front of others really is bothersome. Makes you feel like a poor mom. But luckily the other moms who heard what was going on came to bat for me and while I probably won't leave Bella in there again since I don't want the parking lot Nazi harassing me daily, I still don't think what I did was wrong.

I am lucky when it comes to illnesses with my kids. Knock on wood, they rarely get sick. I've had some issues with food allergies with my daughter, but when it comes to actual illness, she's been relatively healthy in her three years of life. My son has been EXTREMELY healthy. In the almost 6 years I've had him, he has been sick maybe four times.

However, one of the times both kids were sick, they had the stomach flu. Unfortunately I was sick with the stomach flu as well. Thankfully I missed the throwing up portion of their flu. I was actually at the hospital because I was pretty dehydrated from throwing up myself. It wasn't until my husband and I got home late, that we found out that they had been throwing up all night long with my inlaws. And would you believe, that was the one and only time my kids have ever thrown up...aside from the normal baby spit-up, that is. I know. Weird.

Since my kids are generally not pukers, caring for them when they don't feel well is something I really enjoy (I don't handle puke well AT ALL...I guess the saying "God doesn't give you more than you can handle" is true!). They are all cuddly, warm and yes I know it's because they have a fever, but hey they like to lay on my back so I might as well let them soothe my aching back while we're at it! But best of all, we just have a lazy day watching WAY too much Spongebob, and eating popsicles!

When I do suspect that one or both of the kids may be getting sick, I like to be prepared. I stock up on Gatorade, popsicles, and any medicines I may need.
