2012 marks Glasgowbury’s 12th year in business and we couldn’t be happier to bring you our annual celebration of all that’s great and good about local music.

We’re currently beavering away behind the scenes building up a line-up and festival plan for all tastes.

It’s the perfect event to meet with other local musicians while learning from some of the best music industry professionals throughout the country in a relaxed and friendly environment.

One to one and group sessions will be offered across acoustic and electric guitar, bass, drums/percussion, electric guitar sounds and an introduction to recording techniques.

The all day event is open to everyone aged 13-18 and costs just £10. Registration is essential for the limited spaces available.

The Belfast sextet keep their foot on the pedal early this year by rejoining the Glasgowbury team for a headline slot at the G Sessions in Draperstown on Saturday 3rd March.

Among other things they’ll be celebrating their recent nod for the Choice Music Award in Dublin where at the time of writing they were 2nd favourites for the esteemed prize.

Bangor four piece Kowalski will provide support on the evening, bringing their unique blend of electro indie pop to the Draperstown table.

Last time Cashier No. 9 and the G Sessions joined forces in May 2011 doors were closed early and patrons were left disappointed. This time around, you can get your tickets before-hand from both the Cellar Bar and Glasgowbury office in Draperstown – for just £5.

Each year Glasgowbury open a submissions period to give all acts an opportunity to put themselves forward for consideration for the event and a panel of people listen to every one ahead of choosing the festival line-up.

Following the incredibly large amount of submissions received in 2011, a majority of which were via post, we’ve decided to go down the green route this year and accept all submissions electronically.

WHAT TO DO:

To submit for Glasgowbury 2012, all you have to do is email submissions@glasgowbury.com with a link to your website, social networking site, third party site with a link to your music etc – wherever your music and a bit of information about you/your act is included.

Please also use ‘Glasgowbury 2012′ as the email subject.

Feel free to include some up to date information, some nice words or horse tips in your email too.

The panel will listen to all submissions over the coming weeks and months before the submissions period officially closes at the end of January.

The alter-ego of Peter McCauley, Rams’ has been enjoying the most successful of years yet following festival appearances throughout the UK and coveted support slots to the likes of Darwin Deez and Snow Patrol.

With new EP ‘Dogs Run In Packs’, he’s stretched his legs yet further with a sophisticated songwriting style that he’s managed to make his own, enthralling many in the process.

Support on the night comes in the form of the Katie And The Carnival and Window Seats.

Katie and her carnival collective have also enjoyed a hugely enjoyable and successful year with the release of her debut single alongside a highly memorable festival appearance at Glasgowbury.

Window Seats too have been making huge waves with their blend of indie rock, best observed with ‘Local Superhero’ and it’s insanely brilliant video.

All three join forces under the one roof on Saturday 3rd December for a night of much celebrating. Doors are at 9pm and admission is £5.

Presented by the NI Tourist Board, Glasgowbury were honoured to have beaten off strong competition from the likes of Belsonic, Open House and Pigstock.

In the first year of the awards other acts such as Cashier No 9, General Fiasco and ASIWYFA all picked up awards for their work over the last year.

Next up, Glasgowbury have been invited to the prestigious UK Festival Awards in London later this month where we’re in the running in the Best Small Festival category. Fingers crossed!

Belfast rock beasts LaFaro are set to destroy Draperstown on Saturday 5th November when they take to the stage at the G Sessions.

Celebrating the release of new album Easy Meat, the four piece will roll into the Cellar Bar in Draperstown amid a swell of well deserved and rightfully placed praise for their second album.

Known for their famed live performances during which they pour their heart, guts and soul on to the stage, LaFaro have played out some of their most memorable gigs under the G Sessions banner and this November will be no exception.

Support on the night comes from Derry rock kings Fighting With Wire who will showcase material from follow-up album Bones Of The Twilight due for release next year.

The whole thing kicks off from 9pm at the Cellar Bar in Draperstown on Saturday 5th November and admission is £5.

The ‘Small But Massive’ festival are currently in the running for Best Small Festival at the UK Festival Awards (after coming runner-up for the prize in 2010) and are up for Best Festival in the first ever NI Music Awards.

The NIMAs will take place at the Ulster Hall on Wednesday 2nd November and will feature performances from festival favourites such as General Fiasco, And So I Watch You From Afar and Cashier No. 9 among many others.

Later, on November 15th, Glasgowbury will find out the results of the UK Festival Awards in London where the local event is in the running for Best Small Festival.

In a shortened version of categories this year, the public will be able to vote in just a few sections while a team of judges have been out visiting events to assess their merit in other categories.

So as well as helping us towards the ‘Fans’ Favourite Festival’ award, Glasgowbury are also in the running for the ‘Best Small Festival’ award as judged by an industry panel.
