New handsets continue to appear in advance of MWC (Mobile World Congress) and Samsung is the player this time with Galaxy Mini 2 and Galaxy Ace 2. At the moment, there might not be much new smartphones left to be revealed at Mobile World Congress. The company waited till early Thursday morning for making the smartphones official in a press release from its Korean headquarters. Both handsets are sequels to Galaxy Mini and Galaxy Ace, which were introduced at Mobile World Congress last year.

The Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 comes standard with 800MHz processor, WVGA 3.8-inch display, 5.0-megapixel camera, Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system, digital music player, second VGA shooter around front, 4GB of internal memory, microSD card slot, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, TouchWiz interface of Samsung and USB 2.0. For connectivity, it supports all four GSM bands as well as HSDPA for data.

The Samsung Galaxy Mini 2 gets Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS and 800MHz processor, but its features are scaled down just a bit. You will find 3.0-megapixel camera, HVGA 3.27-inch display, Bluetooth, digital music player, USB 2.0, Wi-Fi, 4GB of internal memory and microSD card slot. It features TouchWiz interface and quadband world phone with HSDPA support.

The Galaxy Ace 2 will be offered in United Kingdom beginning in April, whereas the Mini 2 will be introduced in March 2012 in France with international release to follow. The Korean manufacturer didn’t unveil pricing at the time of this writing and there isn’t any doubt that the company will show off the phones when Mobile World Congress starts next Monday in Barcelona, Spain.

Samsung just intoduced its latest dual core smartphone to their family of Android handsets, Samsung I9070 Galaxy S Advance, which promises to be one of the most affordable smartphones by Korean manufacturer. It comes equipped with Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system with Dual Core 1.0GHz Cortex A9 processor and is powerful enough to run Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Speculative conservationists stated that Galaxy Advance is more toned-down and affordably priced version of Galaxy R and also a cheaper substitute for Galaxy S II handset. Both Advance and R models come with 1.0GHz dual core processor with screen size, chipset and RAM being most significant differences between the two.

The R comes with 4.2 inch SC-LCD capacitive screen, while the Samsung I9070 Galaxy S Advance gets 4.0 inch Super AMOLED display. The R adds 1GB RAM and NVIDIA Tegra 2, while the Advance comes with 768MB RAM. The 4.0 inch Super AMOLED touchscreen display of Advance boasts 480 x 800 pixel resolution with Corning Gorilla Glass, delivering vivid and amazing display to view 3D games, Web content and multimedia streaming. It is offered in two variants such as 768MB RAM and Dual Core 1.0GHz Cortex A9 processor that seems sufficient enough for handling 3D games and editing jobs with ease.

The Samsung I9070 Galaxy S Advance offers a 5.0-megapixel rear facing camera with autofocus and LED flash along with microSD memory card slot, A-GPS, smile and face detection, FM radio, touch focus, Wi-Fi, geotagging and 1500mAh battery.

LG Spectrum is a high end, powerful Android smartphone, which provides Verizon subscribers good value, massive ultra sharp 720p display, great battery life, light, sleek design, sharp camcorder and camera, fast LTE speeds, dual core processor, plenty of HD video features and Android 2.3 OS. The Spectrum sharpens vision of what is truly superior in mobile technology. Underneath its outstandingly large 4.5-inch True HD IPS display, you will find a mighty combination of speed and power. The 1.5GHz Qualcomm dual core processor compliments Verizon 4G LTE connectivity, generating spectacularly fast overall experience.

The LG Spectrum’s 4.5-inch True HD IPS touchscreen display offers undistorted, brilliant high definition images at 16:9 aspect ratio. With 329ppi screen density, texts and pictures are sharp even at smallest details. Snap beautiful images with eight-megapixel camera and camcorder and record videos at 1080p. The Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system makes mobile life simple with intuitive function, easy navigation, total customization and more. By using dual-core processor and 4G LTE connectivity, multitasking is flawless on Spectrum. It zooms its way through emails, social networks and web surfing smoothly. The 1280 x 720 pixel resolution offers additional screen space for more visible page content while compared to usual smartphone screen.

The clean design of LG Spectrum brings preppy style to quite a lot of fastest 4G LTE data speeds around. Its attention to high definition is admirable, however a few performance and interface flaws might scare away some. There are quite a lot of themes, which came out of 2012 Consumer Electronics Show, where Verizon originally showcased off LG Spectrum, one of the advanced and latest LTE 4G smartphones. Like Nitro HD, it comes with 4.5 inch high definition display, eight-megapixel rear facing camera with 1080p video recording support and 1.5GHz dual core Snapdragon processor. You will also find front facing 1.3 megapixel camera and Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system.

Besides high definition video recording and display, various applications on LG Spectrum are automatically optimized for HD playback such as ESPN Sports Center and Netflix. Like Nitro HD, its lean, clean design, a successor to its predecessor LG Revolution appeals more. The Spectrum measures 5.3 inches high, 0.42 inch thick and 2.7 inches wide and feels quite solid. However, it isn’t the rugged smartphone, which would be poised for battle against kicks, drops or other handset abuse. It features shiny black face with dark gray metallic coating rims on sides. Like Nitro HD, the Spectrum gets 4.5 inch high definition screen that boasts 1280 x 720 pixel resolution. It is quite bright, gorgeous and colorful and supports 16M colors.

The front facing 1.3 megapixel camera is situated above the LG Spectrum’s display, while beneath it; you will find three navigation buttons, which look classy. The eight-megapixel camera with lens is at the back, while the volume rocker button on the left. The power button is situated on top of the smartphone with 3.5mm headphone jack and microUSB charging port with protective sliding door to keep out muck and dust. Powering the Spectrum is an Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system, which can be upgraded to Ice Cream Sandwich. It also adds Wi-Fi, DLNA, Wi-Fi Direct Support, Bluetooth and GPS radios. Some of the Google services and applications on Spectrum include Google Maps with turn by turn voice navigation, YouTube and Gmail.

Standard features on LG Spectrum include 2G Network: CDMA 800 / 1900; 3G Network: CDMA2000 1xEV-DO; 4G Network: LTE 700 MHz Class 13; 4.5 inch HD-IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with Touch-sensitive controls, 16 million colors, 720 x 1280 pixels and ~326ppi pixel density; Corning Gorilla Glass; True HD Graphic Engine; Dolby mobile sound enhancement; microSD, up to 32GB, 16GB included; 4 GB storage, 1 GB RAM; Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Wi-Fi Direct, DLNA, Wi-Fi hotspot; eight-megapixel camera with 3264 x 2448 pixels, LED flash, Geo-tagging, face detection, autofocus and image stabilization; Android OS, v2.3 (Gingerbread); Qualcomm MSM8660 Snapdragon.

The LG Spectrum is also equipped with Dual-core 1.5 GHz Scorpion; Adreno 220; Sensors: Accelerometer, gyro, proximity, compass; SMS(threaded view), MMS, Email, Push Mail, IM, RSS; WAP 2.0/xHTML, HTML, Adobe Flash; GPS with A-GPS support; TV-out (via MHL A/V link); Active noise cancellation with dedicated microphone; SNS applications; MP4/H.264/H.263/WMV/DviX player; True HD movie editor; Document viewer/editor; Organizer; Voice memo/dial/commands; Predictive text input (Swype); Phonebook: Unlimited entries, Caller groups, Multiple numbers per contact, Search by both first and last name, Picture ID, Ring ID; Organizer: Calendar, Alarm, Document viewer, World clock; E-mail: IMAP, POP3, SMTP, Microsoft Exchange; Notifications: Music ringtones (MP3), Flight mode, Silent mode, Speakerphone.

Dual-core processing power, LTE speeds, and its terrific HD display add up to an excellent smartphone, the LG Spectrum.

Just like cross-peninsula rival LG, Samsung will be shipping its 55-inch OLED television to United States market in 2012. The company confirmed that it would aim at sometime in 2nd half of this year, while LG narrowed its release date down to 3rd quarter. Samsung hasn’t revealed the pricing yet, but claims that it will be available for around $7999. This high performance television is quite slim, measuring 0.3 inch deep. We don’t know whether the OLED will have the potential to outperform like other flat panel televisions.

The only other OLED television to see store shelves was Sony XEL-1, the 11-inch pipsqueak, which nevertheless managed to offer absolute black levels. The only screen, which comes close, is the Extreme Contrast Concept Plasma of Pioneer that offered deepest black levels. The company describes 55-inch OLED as maximized performance and masterpiece of accurate color reproduction. It suffers from off-angle color issues, which LG stated that its 55-inch OLED design addresses. The Samsung’s 55-inch OLED display will provide dual core chipset and Smart Interaction of its other high performance television sets like UNES8000.

With Election Day still 9 months off, Google is getting the United States ready for the ballot box. Google, a Web giant today introduced an election hub where citizens can participate, study, learn about, watch and discuss and perhaps even make impact on digital campaign trail as it blazes forward to Tuesday on 6th November 2012, Mr. Eric Hysen wrote on company blog. The Google.com/elections page enables to browse by issue or candidate, while Trends browsers shows how regularly candidates are subject of Google News mentions, YouTube views and Google searches. This particular page also includes On the Ground map feature, which connects to current political news events around the county.

You will find a section, which filters for news on most significant issues like immigration, government spending and healthcare. Alongside United States edition, Google has also created Egyptian edition with coverage of different political parties along with filters for most significant issues. This site has productivity tool kit for journalists and campaign workers. Apart from web presence, the Atlantic Wire points out that Web giant is creating media hangout centers for journalists who are physically covering the election. For Iowa caucus at Polk County Convention Complex, it has ritzy little setup inhabited with chairs, bean bags, touchscreen televisions, couches, coffee, local cuisine, tech help center and two treadmills; all for making consumption easier and election coverage, so there is no reason to be uniformed this year.

Motorola Theory is a smart-looking messaging smartphone, which provides compact and slim design, great QWERTY keyboard, good call quality, nice display and IM, Bluetooth, browsing and email functionality. It offers the users a solid option for texting and talking, while still taking the benefit of Boost Mobile’s low rates. The Theory is a great phone that supports texting as second language with QWERTY keyboard, Bluetooth and bright 2.4 inch display. Boost Mobile expanded the messaging phone offerings this year with the introduction of Motorola Clutch +i475 along with Theory. It looks similar to Clutch +i475, but doesn’t come with push to talk functionality and gets 1.3 megapixel camera. It is a decent smartphone with tactile QWERTY keyboard.

The Motorola Theory features a similar design like Clutch +i475, measuring 0.5 inch thick, 4.4 inches high and 2.4 inches wide. It has a same slate form factor with soft touch finish and rounded corners at the back. The front trim is shiny dark gray, which adds a utilitarian look to the device. The Theory gets a 2.4 inch screen that boasts 262,000 colors with 320 x 240 pixel resolution, which is certainly sharper as compared to the 220 x 176 pixel resolution display of Clutch +i475. It allows you to adjust the menu font size, backlight time, banner text, brightness level, clock format and wallpaper. Beneath the screen, you will find a standard navigation array, which comprises of two soft buttons, dedicated camera and back key with round toggle with center Select key in between.

The Motorola Theory’s End/Power and Send keys are on either side of array. It features a QWERTY keyboard, which is quite cramped. The number keys are highlighted in white, while the spacebar is quite spacious. The keyboard also features a dedicated speakerphone key. The camera lens is located at the back of the device, while the micro USB port and 2.5mm headphone jack on the left. The volume rocker button is on the right hand side of Theory. It gets a 1000 entry phonebook with room in each for five numbers, notes, email address, street address, instant message handle and Web URL. It also allows you to organize the contacts into groups and tailor then with images for caller ID or other 16 polyphonic ringtones or message alert tones.

Basic features on Motorola Theory include notepad, vibrate mode, calculator, speakerphone, world clock, datebook and alarm clock. It also adds voice commands, Bluetooth, Web browser and GPS with TeleNav. As a standard messaging phone, it comes with multimedia and text messaging with threaded conversation support, instant messaging and email. The email portion supports Yahoo, POP/IMAP accounts, AOL, Gmail and Windows Live. The 1.3 megapixel camera can take images in four different resolutions with settings for four shutter tones with silent option, self timer, up to 4X zoom, picture frames, color effects, brightness and white balance. The image quality is not that good, and looks dark, tiny and blurry especially in low light.

Standard features on Motorola Theory include MAIL: POP3/imap email support through email/IM application Wireless web email access to Gmail, MSN and Yahoo; Full keyboard (QWERTY) with two soft keys; 2.40 inch TFT screen with 320 x 240 pixels and 262,000 colors; 1.3 megapixel camera with Digital zoom; music player: AAC, MP3, MP4, WMA and AMR; Multiple numbers per contact, Caller groups, Ring ID and Picture ID; Calendar; Alarm; Calculator, Memo; Instant Messaging: Windows Live, MSN and Yahoo; Built-in 128 MB memory; Bluetooth profiles: Handsfree (HFP), Headset (HSP), File Transfer (FTP), Generic Object Exchange (GOEP), Serial Port (SPP), Object Push (OPP), Generic Audio/Video Distribution (GAVDP), Basic Printing (BPP), Basic Imaging (BIP), Advanced Audio Distribution (A2DP), Phone Book Access (PBAP) and Audio/Visual Remote Control Profile (AVRCP); microUSB; Polyphonic ringtones; Music ringtones; Vibration Alert; Flight mode; Silent mode and Speaker Phone.
