Watch ‘Hughes The Force’ Inspired By ‘Star Wars’ & John Hughes Movies

In celebration of the 35th anniversary today of the release of original Star Wars, Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes have premiered the film Hughes The Force on their SModcast Internet Television (S.I.T.). The film, directed, written, and produced by Producer by J.C. Reifenberg, is inspired by Star Wars, as well as all those 1980's John Hughes movies, like The Breakfast Club and Weird Science. Hughes The Forces revolves around Simon and Henry, two unpopular teens who, in an effort to get into the epic end of the year high school party, must find a hot chick willing to go with them. When that proves difficult, they take matters into their own hands with Simon's Slave Leia action figure.

Entitled UFO: The Chrysalis Years (1980-1986) the collection houses the band's five albums released by the record label: No Place to Run (1980), Wild, Willing and the Innocent (1981), Mechanix (1982), Making Contact (1983), and Misdemeanor (1986). This week’s promotional materials had a common underlying theme to it - they all centered on creatures of the night. There were character posters and banners for The Dark Knight Rises and the red-band trailer for Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, but now it's time for everyone’s favorite swooning vampire to swoop in and take a stab – or a bite – of the promotional fun. The first set of character posters for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2 have been released. You can take a look at the new character posters below.

As a part of a scavenger hunt that was held last week, Twilight fans scoured the Internet looking for clues that would lead to the big reveal and once they had all the clues in their hands, it revealed three character posters, one each for Jacob, Bella, and Edward (played by Taylor Lautner, Kristen Stewart, and Robert Pattinson respectively). 2011 saw the resurrection or rebirth of a Star Wars comic series called Jedi. Initially envisioned as chronicles of specific individual Jedi Knights during the events of The Clone Wars, the new incarnation of the series instead delves a little deeper and further back into the history of the order, and concentrates on Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn in the days he was a young trainer of apprentices and well before the time of Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Subtitled The Dark Side, the new series shadows the final mission of Jinn's padawan Xanatos and his subsequent fall to the Dark Side of the Force. Xanatos, as a character, had previously been explored as an antagonist in the Jedi Apprentice young adult book series; but this trade paperback delves into an era when he was still a boy.

Intractable and brooding, Xanatos as a 13-year-old padawan evokes the same feel as the Anakin Skywalker of Star Wars Episode II: Attack Of The Clones. 2 New ‘Dark Knight Rises’ Banners; Special Footage To Air During MTV Movie Awards

There is no slowing down for The Dark Knight Rises. Following the release of the theatrical poster, the six character posters, and the four banners that were released in the past week, Warner Bros. has released two additional banners featuring Batman and Bane. And In addition to these banners, it was announced earlier that the MTV Movie Awards will be airing special footage from the movie on June 3rd at 9pm.

The banners deliver the same kind of message that the previous four have, that the scale of chaos that Gotham is in is beyond epic proportions. I especially love the banner with Bane stopping Batman's punch with the city of Gotham in chaos in the background. The banner with Batman’s cape on fire gives new meaning to “the fire rises” logline. An absolute milestone in cinema history gets reached today as one of the biggest moneymakers and most popular films of all time, Star Wars, celebrates its 35th anniversary!

This “long time ago in a galaxy far, far away” science-fiction epic, which was released on May 25, 1977, was an absolute game changer for Tinsel Town in so many ways. It was the Gone With the Wind of its time, an updated version of Akira Kurosawa's 1958 film The Hidden Fortress, which also told of a story of rescue, with protagonists who were the lowest beings on the food chain, who turned out to be heroes in the end, much like the now etched in folklore characters and narrative of Star Wars.

What can be said about this film that hasn’t been written, dissected, analyzed, and now blogged by probably 70 percent of the planet here in this technological age we live in? Well for starters, it came during a time in the 1970s when films that were before it were downer, realistic visual treatises that were cynical, with endings where the main characters didn’t always ride off into the sunset or have the easy answers. With the release of Star Wars, the post-Vietnam, Nixon era of the troubled early 1970s got a film in which to root for the hero again, with a slam bang, slapdash ending, with escapist plots, fun characters, and eye popping special effects - a true popcorn classic. There were films which were hinting at that, like the previous years’ Rocky, although not a sci-fi film, but also had a character who was an underdog to root for, just like the main character of Star Wars, Luke Skywalker (played by Mark Hamill), who was going up against a villain to jeer for, in the sinister and unapologetic figure in Darth Vader. It was David and Goliath redux [...]

What happened to Will Smith? There was a time (1997) when Smith made great, entertaining popcorn movies, but those days, it seems, are over. Since the back-to-back successes of Independence Day, Men in Black, and Enemy of the State, Smith's filmography has been comprised of less hits and more misses: I, Robot, I Am Legend, Hancock, and his most recent film, 2008's Seven Pounds, just to name a few.

After such a slump of underwhelming movies, it makes perfect sense for Will Smith to revisit the Men in Black franchise, even if 2002's Men in Black II was entirely disappointing. On the topic of revisiting previous films, let's take a moment to review Will Smith's credits, as well as his upcoming projects:
