We even drafted a document for such an occasion. Well, it actually defeats the purpose of a person’s goodwill treating their friends.. but well, the majority can really play a big role in a society..
Here goes the latest document..

But I guess it’s good in a way that there is a ‘protocol’ or ‘standard’ to follow and most importantly, everyone is happy with it.. So, the first of the many meal treats began yesterday, at a place called Soprano

It’s an Italian Fine Dining that specializes in pasta.

It has all sorts of shapes and some comes with their own fillings such as salmon, mushroom, cheese or nuts. It’s a long table concept and we ordered enough to make everyone stuffed.

We ordered appetizers, main course for each and pizzas to be shared..

One of the better fine-dining restaurant cause there are some places where the food is expensive but the taste is not up to that standard.

The atmosphere is also good and quite romantic.

We also took the opportunity to celebrate Yen Ping’s Birthday.. We ‘surprised’ her and her ‘birthday cake’ is tiramisu.

After our main course, we went to this place called ‘Klee’ where their concept is slightly different. Instead of ordering drinks from a menu, they will ask what kind of taste would we like. First, we choose our base (vodka, rum, tequila, gin, etc), then we choose our taste (sour,sweet,fruity,etc). From there, they’ll recommend us several preparations then we decide which one do we want…

They have also the usual bottled beers and liquors to be ordered off the shelf. It’s pretty interesting but I find their drinks are just so-so..

So, the drinks came in a variety of colours

Overall, the night was great as it really is something different.. The place is damn ulu that it’ll be quite difficult to get there without a cab/car.

Here’s the story:

Bi Shan threw herself a birthday party cause Deon ordered a 2KG Snoopy Birthday Cake for her… The both of them can’t finish the 2KG cake all by themselves so, she invited her friends in SG and even ordered extra stuffs for us – KFC, Pizza Hut, Canadian Pizza, Pastamania, Dessert Wine, etc.

So, in her party, there are basically two groups of people.. One, more towards Bishan’s friends. Another one, more towards Deon’s friends

Actually for me, I know most of Deon’s friends cause they were from NTU – my seniors. But they are closer to my sister though, Grace, as they were her juniors. haha..

Anyway, we just mingled, chatted and eat the food we see in her house while Deon and his friends played board games.

He has this big collection of board games! He even has a starcraft board game… OMG.. lol. Apparently, it was so complicated that it became a display set.. Haha..

Then finally, the birthday cake! Well, the Snoopy Cake didn’t turn up cause the cake shop just didn’t do them.. Maybe it was too complicated?? But the thing is, they didn’t even inform that they are not going to prepare the 2KG Snoopy Cake for them. End up, there’s a 2 X 1Kg Ice Cream Cake from Swensen’s.

And tada! Surprise!!

Okay fine.. There isn’t really much of a surprise since she threw herself her own party. She even put the candles on the cake herself… We’re quite bad guests actually.. We keep demanding her to prepare drinks for us.. Haha..

Anyhow, she still enjoyed herself.. Can see from her happy face…

The cake was quite good. Did I mention that her place is very nice too?

There were 17 of us, where most are final years staying in new hall area. Yi Chin, Ariel, Sein Chyi prepared most of the food while the rest of us waited for the food.. haha.. All the rice cookers were malfunctioning and we ‘cooked’ the steamboat food on the stove. Thanks to the cooks,

We had lots of vege,

and lots of meat balls. Teng Seng made very good tom yam soup..

Shaun brought his lou sang from I forgot where..

One thing that we learned from experience is to label our bowls. So not to mix them up with another person’s bowls.. I did the labelling of bowls!

There were lots of teasing (mainly on me), nonsensical talkings and well, the usual NTU stuff.. haha.. Felt like being a student again. Many of us there are a in pairs with the exception of some few eligible ones who refuse to go into one.

We ended with the lamest lou sang ever..

There weren’t any well-wishes. Just plain shouting and missing chopsticks.

Anyway, it was fun being part of the NTU-MSA again. Hope there’s one last one before they graduate from NTU.

We went up in 2 cars where the 2nd car consists of me and my bro. My brother drove up the hill while I slept. And I drove the rest of the Cameron’s trip. Our first stop was to buy ‘real pearl corns’. The corns there are really sweet and the corns itself has a mixture of white and yellow corn bits. We also went to Rose Gardens to look at beautiful roses and other flowers.

Some flowers are very nice.. May varieties of rose in different colours. There’s the pink rose at the top, there’s yellow rose, red rose..

There’s even the black rose!

The black rose is actually from a red rose where it turns black when it grows older.

Like from the picture above, the back of the red rose begins to turn black.. Or at least, that’s what my father told me..

There are also many nice flowers, like the giant hibiscus..

Even the bees are enjoying themselves collecting nectar from the flowers. The flowers are really sweet smelling, by the way..

  Okay.. Enough with the flowers… We took some pictures around – my dad wanted to take a picture with this mermaid statue. The story is that the mermaid is a being longing for her lost love, awaiting for his return..

We went to the “ye olde smokehouse” for some scones, tea and coffee.. My brother took me posing at the grand piano.. haha

The ‘adults’ are drinking tea while the kids were also having their own fun time..

We then ate lunch at Cafe Downtown at Tanah Rata. It was a 4pm lunch… Imagine.. haha.. The food there is very nice. Their chicken chop and char koay teow is very nice!

Right after that, we headed to the tea plantation for a cup of tea and cheese cake!

We came here before 2 years ago… And look how the kids have grown!

Did I mention that my nieces are posers??

Marielle actually posed for the pictures! And she’s only like 2 yrs old.

Oh well.. maybe it runs in the family. My brother and my dad also same case…

After that, we went to the Laban Rata Waterfall! It’s on the way down from Cameron’s towards Tapah.

The waterfall there is quite nice. Very refreshing… Had quite a long pit stop here for the kids to play… Too bad I didn’t bring any change of clothes… Otherwise, I’ll just dip right into the pool. What I did was just take a good walk around the waterfall.. hahah

For the Cameron Trip, had to thank my sis’s bf.. She wanted to bring him around and end up going to a lot of places. He paid for all our meals at Cameron’s.. How nice of him… =)

When we reached Ipoh, it’s already almost 9pm. We went straight for dinner at old town.

Then at 10pm, I met up with Jason Ling, Yee Weng and Kean Fatt at the Ramly Burger Stall. They had seats there and it’s not crowded at all over there. I was supposed to meet euwen also but in the end, he was out with his sam tet friends… Anyway, the 4 of us just sat there, and just chatted… Good to meet up with old school mates… =)

At night, I met up with Sek Hee at his place, together with Yee Hui. We chatted, played with his new Nikon Camera and played PS3! We played his Guitar Hero and Resident Evil 3 and before we realized, it’s already like 2am! hahah.. Ah, the cosiness with a small group of friends.. And that’s what I did again for the next night, with Jason Ling and the gang..

It was the 3rd day of CNY and my eldest sister is to return to Penang. My brother also had to fetch his gf and the in-laws back to Penang. Which leads to a very impromptu decision by my family.. “Let’s all go to Penang for a day trip!!”

At the time when they made the decision, I just woke up and was kind of shocked and flabbergasted with the news. haha.. but too bad, I couldn’t join them for the trip as I made a full-day plan with my friends already… They left for penang after lunch but before that, we took a ‘full’ family picture first.

Look at the number of nephews and nieces I have already…. Makes me feel old..

So.. they all left to Penang, with me in the house and Rosemary to take care of her new born son. Chee Lim came over right after my parents left.. She was supposed to come pai lin but too bad, no one was around. So, she just dropped by to see Elijah and Rosemary. Then, I went to her place to take something I left behind at her house the night before. And we headed for Choon May’s house shortly after.

Later after that, I went to Pinkie’s place, to meet her, joanna, jill and yee hui there. And guess what? We just watched TV.. hahah… Probably cause there isn’t much things to do at her place and only entertainment was the TV.. haha.
After waiting for yee hui to reach, we went to Jo’s house to play Pictionary!

It was actually my first time playing Pictionary. I played something similar before, like Yahoo’s Graffiti, Win Lose or Draw.. or something to that category. It wasn’t as easy as I thought it would be. But it was good play.. Need to think in the same frequency in order to guess what the other player is drawing.

Some classic examples

• Pinkie drew a rat with a thousand legs…
• Yee Hui’s version of Venus is “Gillette and Venus”, not the planet Venus…
• A liver with a swimming pool is called “liverswim” and not liverpool..
• Russia and a cow becomes “ruscow” and not “moscow”.. Lol

It was a fun game but too bad was a bit short.

Right before we left, we played this game called “Killer Bunnies”. A very fun game but we didn’t really had enough time to fully enjoy to fun of it.. I guess there’s always still next time. =)

And night time, there was Susan’s CNY house party! It’s something like Chee Lim’s version but the people there were more of a mixture between RPP, Sam Tet, SMI, MC and MGS people. So, being a very ‘shy’ person.. I just stick back to the people that I know.. hahah.. Saw some old friends that I haven’t seen for a while, like Nikhil Roy, Rui Yang…

It was great and Susan prepared lots of food to eat. Lots of fried chicken, cocktail, bak kwa… I guess that’s the end of the major big gatherings for me… But within that few days, have already met up with lots of people.

And my brother also returned from Penang after picking up her girlfriend from Penang. I stayed at home during the daytime to spend time with my family and also to just laze around in my room…

The main ‘event’ for Chor 2 is the family dinner where we booked two tables at Sun Lee How Fook Restaurant. Too bad this year, grace and rosemary couldn’t join us. Grace is not around while Rosemary is still in ‘confinement’ mode.

There were also some new faces. Like my brother’s soon-to-be (hopefully) in laws.

And some hopeful in-laws.. =)

It wasn’t as ‘fun’ as previous years though.. but at least the food is quite good.. haha

Right after dinner, I headed towards Chee Lim’s house party. She normally organizes one whenever she’s in Ipoh for CNY. It has been there since form 4/5 already… I think she invited the whole Ipoh village there. The house eventually packs up with people, mainly her schoolmates and some of her non-schoolmates.

There are only the above people when I first arrived at around 10 smtg… Then it slowly growed and growed…

I think it’s the picture have most of her guests inside. Apart from some that left early..

Versus the many people inside… It’s quite fun actually to see so many people at once. Like meeting alot of people at one spot at the same time. No need to have so many separate sessions to meet up.. Hahah

Nah.. Just kidding. Meeting up is fun. Knowing what’s happening about the people that we used to know.. Like those who didn’t used to study well end up to be very successful people. Some that were very notorious in school has one of the better professions. Like some becoming pastors and lecturers.. Amazing how people change, especially those for the better.

I tried to imitate what I see when the Ramly person makes the Ramly Burger.. put in fried onions, cheese, wrap the patty with egg.. I even marinated the patty!
But the patty isn’t the Ramly patty.. Just some patty that I can find from the local supermarket.

I think my next attempt would be better… =)

Made 4 burgers (2 burger each) with a bowl of vegetables and a pot of soup.. Yum Yum!

I never really understand such tradition/culture but that’s the believe and we just obliged. Better to be safe than sorry when something bad really happens and they blame it on my family. Hence, the first day of CNY was a very relaxing day. Of course, we did the usual ‘rituals’ to visit neighbours, bring gifts and exchange ang paus. And of course, the main event of the day – The tea ceremony and the family portrait taking.

Each of us to pour tea to our parents in return to receive ang paus. Starting from youngest to oldest. And lastly, the exchange of angpaus between my parents. =)

Then, the family portraiture taking… This year’, we’re short of Grace as she’s in UK for her studies and she just came back for Christmas.

And it never fails to end with a loud entrance to the start of the new Lunar New Year by burning some firecrackers!

For lunch, we just ate a simple lunch at Mar Poh and didn’t do much later in the afternoon. Haha.. Just relaxed and enjoy the atmosphere at home with the kids playing and siblings chatting around.

At night, I met up with Jason Lee, Omega, Delicia and Chin Zwen… We wanted to try out this new place called Papa Rich but it was super crowded. Even the cafe next to it, Taste of Soup, was full house.

We ended up going to Delicia’s house. Chin Zwen left to go to her other friend’s place.

There’s no covering officer cause they’re on leave too! Things will only return as usual when I’m back in office!

There are a few activities lined up to be done next week.. and the worse thing is, I”m on course for the whole of next week… So, should I just ask them “We’ll just have to wait for one more week cause nobody’s doing my job..” =/
