The 2010 vintage of this 100% malbec delivers a lot of structure and depth off flavour for a wine under $10. Expect lifted currant fruit with tea and herbal notes, mild oak spice and a hint of prune. It is elegant and quite rich, medium-full bodied with good to very good length. Best 2012 to 2015. Try with grilled red meat.

Fuzion Alta and the City Hall of Mendoza inaugurated the winning mural of the “Urban Art Contest Fuzion Alta Mendoza”

The author of this mural is Guido Siragusa (20) whose work of art was chosen among a total of 21 contestants. The jury highlighted Siragusa’s work for its “visual impact, integration to the environment, balance, visibility of its spatial construction, and the value of the subject matter, since it represents our diverse culture including the traditional and the modern aspects”. Guido Siragusa explained, “The work focuses on human life and its dependency to environmental resources and social activities. These resources are vital since they shape a unique identity passed on every generation. I used as main elements the images of people from different local cultural circles connected by different elements that represent values such as air, water, soil, work, art, music and sports”  

The aim of this contest is to stimulate society’s participation in creating and taking care of public areas, promote urban art as an artistic and cultural expression, contribute to the expression and development of local identities, as well as support the dialogue, coexistence and interculturality as basic principles for human relationships”

Fuzion Alta 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon $9.95 (Argentina)

Top pick among all the Fuzion wines now on shelves. Blackberry, plum, vanilla, almost grape lollipop aromas. Serious mellow black cherry, black pepper and blueberry flavours with a hint of caramel. Cedar and spice linger on a nicely structured finish. Excellent value red.

Food suggestion: Spaghetti and meatballs.

Last saturday, the successful Fuzion wines were presented in Mendoza, Argentina. It was a great show, full of people, live music and local artist.
