Eons ago, I used to run at least 20 miles a week and did various Beachbody workouts religiously. With more responsibilities (family-kids and work), my running and fitness routines fell to the wayside. The only time I could squeeze in a workout was early morning or at night, after everyone else had gone to bed. We have had the Peloton Bike since 2019 and we love it. Last week, we added the Peloton Tread + to our home gym. We waited for about 2 months after purchase. Peloton’s logistics partner, XPO, cancelled our delivery twice but the third term was a charm. We decided on placing the Tread + in our sunroom facing the woods. After the delivery men left, I calibrated, connected to Wi-Fi, and synced our profiles; the tread + was ready to go. I took some time to familiarize myself with the interface. Peloton Tread + is a sleek modern looking treadmill. It has a massive 32-inch HD touch screen that displays live and on-demand classes where you can virtually give your classmates high-fives and compete for ranks on the leaderboard. The display shows runner’s heart rate (if a heart rate monitor is connected), output, pace (both best and average during the class), speed, elevation, calories burned, and the leaderboard. Its footprint is 6 feet by 2.7 feet (72.5” L x 32.5” W x 72” H) and the incline and speed controls are on dials on each side of the treadmill; the one on the right adjusts the speed and the left adjusts the incline. The incline goes up to 15% and the speed is 12.5mph. In the center of the knob is a “jump” button that you can manually set to different inclines and speeds. The Tread + has sturdy shock-absorbing slat belt, making running more comfortable than traditional treadmills. With a $39 monthly subscription, you have access to variety of classes- sprints, intervals, runs, jogs, walk/runs, walking, power walking, hiking, boot camps, strength training, yoga, meditation, and stretching. Most classes are either 20, 30, 45 or 60 minutes long First Impression The design is intuitive and quite frankly, brilliant 32 inch HD Touchscreen is immersive with a high-quality speaker system; giving you the feel like you are in a live class It has sturdy, shock-absorbing slat belt that makes running more comfortable than traditional treadmills. Peloton Tread + is not just a treadmill, it’s a connected, social-coached and fitness universe with leaderboards, scores, new mile stones and achievements Metrics are precise and extensive- average pace, wattage, total output in Kilo Joules, elevation and distance. Additional metrics (such as average speed and incline) can be found on the home screen after you complete the workout. Peloton Tread + is expensive and heavy, weighing about 455 pounds (206 Kg)

My mom (64) is on a mission of reviving her old life and adopting a healthy way of living. She has a sweet tooth and she’s scared she would have to give up her sweet treats in order to be successful at it. This is a myth and a great misconception. Just because something is sweet doesn’t necessarily mean it is unhealthy. Yes on this life style you can have you cake and eat it. All you need to know is when and how to make them. I whipped up our favorites Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip energy bars. They taste like cookie dough but are made with just 4 healthy ingredients! These Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip energy bars are gluten free, grain free, and dairy free, and could easily be made peanut free by substituting with almond butter. These are the ultimate easy snack guaranteed to curb your sweet tooth any day. Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip energy bars Ingredients 2 cups pitted Medjool dates 1 cup all natural peanut butter 1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract 1/4-1/3 cup Mini vegan and soy free chocolate chips Direction: Place dates, peanut butter, and vanilla in a food processor with the S blade, we used our VITAMIX*. Pulse until mixture resembles large moist crumbs. Pour mixture into a small casserole dish lined with parchment. Use clean hands to spread mixture evenly across pan, pressing down firmly. It’s alright if it doesn’t cover the entire pan, just press them out to the desired thickness. Sprinkle chocolate chips evenly across surface, pressing gently to keep them in place. Refrigerate until firm, then slice into bars with a sharp knife. Makes 10-12 bars. Notes *If your dates are not sticky and moist, you can soak them in warm water for 10 minutes, then drain. But be sure to drain thoroughly and pat dry to prevent the crust from getting soggy. If you made these and loved them, let us know in the comments section or tags us #healthy-sweets

Summer is here in the northern hemisphere, yayy..Since 2007 when I made the decision to be fit and healthy, I have consistently maintained my body weight (be it in summer, winter or any season) with the occasional 1-2 kgs fluctuations- heck, that is a fact of life and I believe most people can relate. 10-15 minutes away from where we live, is a beach; yeah, a beachbody on the beach- to quote my dear hubby. We decided to explore this beach, taking into consideration sanitary conditions which is an issue with most beaches in NYC (with few exceptions like the Hamptons). The weather was hot and humid. We prepared some snacks- of course healthy vegan snacks; melons, strawberries, blueberries, cucumber beets sushi and a gallon water to keep hydrated. Here are some of the pics below including my near perfect Baywatch like moment-lol….Enjoy and please leave your comments
