Freedom For China has a True Words Anthology of Poetry, collected poems about the persecution of China. This anthology is part of the Multicultural Poetry organisation founded by Mr Reza in London city. An opening event to celebrate the formation of Multicultural Poetry was held at Stratford Library where The Alchemy gave a performance of his song 'Foretold' which was about the persecution of Falun Gong in China to end the evening.

FFC Networks: Meeting with the London Bloggers group

In an effort to promote this blog, I went to the London Bloggers group on November 3, 2009. The meeting was held at a pub overlooking the sea. The night was sponsored by Paramount and featured guest speaker Marko Saric from http://www.howtomakemyblog.com/ (see pictured above) who provided tips for the bloggers present and a few giggles. There were 50-60 bloggers present and I came home with a bundle of contacts: bloggers of different backgrounds and interests, let's hope that we can interconnect things with them and explore their respective blogs, too! I handed out details of the website to a good few people, and it was a nice night.

Epoch Times and New Tang Dynasty Music Library

We've managed to get a classified in the Vancouver edition of the Epoch Times newspaper, hopefully this will attract more musicians and artists down with the cause to participate in Freedom For China projects.

Second bit of news is that New Tang Dynasty Television has opened up a new music library section online, FFC music is being uploaded to the site and my music (under the alias of The Alchemy) is now up on the site! This adds a whole new dimension to the scheme of things because music can be utilised for documentaries, and other music programs. NTDTV reaches out to a large audience offering up Chinese culture and related news of high quality. I hope this FFC connection with NTDTV can continue to blossom in any case.

Q&A with daughter of South African Poet Ingrid Jonker

FFC: Do you feel it is fair to call Ingrid Jonker the 'South African Sylvia Plath'?
SV. Sylvia Plath, Anne Sexton and Ingrid Jonker have been grouped together because of the similarities regarding their lives. Also, I.J. as a poet has been compared to the Phoenix, a Mythical creature, that rises from it's own ashes. She lives in her work, even though it has been 45 yea since her death.

2.A.My grandfather A.Jonker, was a Member of Parliment who walked the floor and joined the National Party who implemented 'Segregation'. He then became Minister of the Sensorship Board, which banned Freedom of Speech in Literature and Art.This had a divisive effect on my mother and she openly opposed him. She and a group of writers and artists[her friends], were after all, humane and compassionate regarding things like race etc.

3.A.I grew up in a community of wonderfull human beings, artists, writers, who openly opposed the Segregation Government of South Africa, so, regarding Segregation and sensorship, these were alien concepts to me. Living in S.A., during those years was madness to many people, the oppression and hatred etc. I was like many others, an outcast, especially since my mother's death on 19 July 1965. These were emotionally chaotic years, and we all suffered.It has been very natural for me to take up the practice of Falun Gong, as it touches upon deep concerns regarding humanity. It bears a direct relationship to everything my mother stood for and died for, and brings me in touch with her. Falun Dafa has given me strength in the face of adversity, and purpose.

It will be called 'Smoke and Ochre' after her 2nd book of verse that won the C.N.A. Best Afrikaans Book in 1963. Because as she said 'smoke is for dreams and ochre is for earth'.

The Child That Was Beaten To Death By Soldiers In Beijing

[a translation of the Afrikaans poem, written by Ingrid Jonker, and read by Nelson Mandela at his First speech to the Nations 1st Democratic election in 1994.It draws on a similar event regarding a child and his mother who were killed by police during the Segregation era in South Africa. I am the daughter of the poet and a Falun Dafa practitioner, and so i have drawn a comparison between Communist China and the old Apartheid government. - Simone Cillers Venter]

The child that was beaten to death by soldiers in Beijing.
The child is not dead the child lifts his fists against his 'mother'[C.C.P]
who cries China! cries the breath
of freedom and country
in the Mainland of the heart under siege.

The child lifts his fists against his 'father'[C.C.P]
in the march of the generations
who cry China! cry the breath
of righteousness and bloodin
the streets of his appeal for justice

The child is not dead
not at Shandong, nor at Changchunnor
at Heilongjiang, nor at Tianennman Squaren
or at the police station at Beijing
where he lies beaten, bruised and frozen.

The child is the shadow of the soldier
son guard with guns, amour-plated police vehicles
and batons
the child is present at all meetings and legislations
the child peeps through the windows of houses and into the hearts

Guitar: I play a left-handed Fender acoustic guitar. I wrote some songs about Falun Gong, and now I want to perform them at some open mics around London city. I have to memorise the words, and amass the necessary songs together. I will endeavor to this and will detail what happens here. It might be a good way to promote Freedom For China.

CD: I want to take some free CDs with me to my performance, together with some of those leaflets pictured, and scribble some links on the CD. Second idea is to stand outside some late night venues (Hip Hop) and hand out some CDs with The Alchemy tracks. Anyway, will see how this idea develops.

I got some business cards done last year, and I give them out to people now and then, so they've proved real handy. What I want to do is get more people connected with this whole project so contributors and musicians can get some leaflets and cards too. I've begun to start this process, just waiting for some mulla then I can proceed further and send out these things.

Freedom For China invites musicians of various styles to support this project and while colloborations and connections have been forged with artists such as Light Club, we're looking for more! I discovered how my domain email works now so therefore musicians and other people interested in participating should contact myself at: ZubyreParvez@freedomforchina.co.uk or on the email provided on the card below.

There's a recent song the band Dogstar did called 'Tianamen' which I'll put a link for here soon, The Clash have done a Falun Gong song (see prior post) and there was Guns N Roses Chinese Democracy LP, therefore there's quite a few artists out there who have involved themselves in this general area, which is very positive.

I got these leaflets printed at Copycats last year. 5,000 of them. About 4,000 of them are still sitting in my bedroom upstairs in a box with the address in a plastic packet tacked to it still. Some Falun Gong practitioners in different places have taken some of these leaflets to post to their respective areas which was neat! I wish they would take some more! We managed to get the leaflets out to a healthcare store in California, and to a practitioner in Canada. We're working on a spanish translation and French translation for the website in future after which we can have the leaflets in these languages. I want to be handing out these leaflets in Covent Garden and Camden where people are open to projects such as thesse. I'll start doing that soonish, let's see how it goes!

In time, I wanna get some of these T-shirts done, cos they look groovy. As with some things, this idea is in the pipe..I will be asking some of the Falun Gong artists if they would like to have art pieces pressed onto T-shirts. I think it could work as an idea.

The Gong has a powerful and majestic sound to it, check out this video. Gong also means cultivated energy in Chinese, that is, an energy akin to 'qi'as Eastern medicine recognises, but more refined. Falun Gong Qigong exercises cultivate such energies.

Red Dragon Slayer

In thinking about dragons images I have encountered in my life. I was born in England, and the English flag is made up of St George’s Cross. St George was fabled to be a dragon slayer himself according to legend, having succeeded in defeating the dragon that threatened the land. Looking back, I remember as a child I used to watch Dungeons and Dragons, a cartoon about a team of warriors setting out to destroy evil. Here’s a brief video clip of the show:

More recently the business and entertainment show Dragons Den is about millionaire entrepreneurs in London aka ‘Dragons’. In the City of London, there is dragon symbolism everywhere on walls and train stations, therefore London is linked to Dragons too. Then in 1999, the Chinese Communist Party begun persecuting Falun Gong. The Chinese Communist Party has been symbolised by a terrible red dragon. The poem that follows also symbolises the CCP as such in a dramatic evocation of a scene of persecution pictured by the poet:

I.
The red dragon dives through the night,
Eating or killing those below,
Seems like fifty years without light,
The scared young man approaches slow.
II.
Twilight village, quiet morning,
His statement nailed on a pole hangs,
The first daylight soon adorning,
"I quit your dark Communist gang."
III.
Police bang hard at his locked door,
A small baby begins to cry,
An empty dish breaks on the floor,
No one bothers to ask them, "Why?"
IV.
Burning flesh and muffled screams fill,
The communist labour camp walls,
Trying in vain to break his will,
Outside, red leaves begin to fall.
V.
Looking straight in the dragons eyes,
Others try to run away fast,
In its mouth a poor victim dies,
The young man's thoughts of death have passed.
VI.
The camp guard looks in the man's eyes,
Freedom and blood stuck on his face,
The sickened guard tries not to cry,

The Red Dragon Slayer , by Evan Mantyk

I would say dragons, specifically red dragons, are a big no no. There are good types of dragons too but they are certainly not red dragons. As a Falun Gong practitioner, I and fellow practitioners oppose the persecution of Falun Gong by the sinister red dragon. In the prior post of the ‘sword dance’ the lady slays the red dragon. Millions of people in China today are withdrawing from the CCP owing to a publication called the Nine Commentaries, which has laid bare the true history under the CCP, shocking the Chinese people. It seems the red dragon is on the road to complete elimination.

China’s Human Rights Lawyer Persecuted By The Chinese Communist PartyGao Zhisheng is a Human Rights attorney, under house arrest since 2006. He disappeared in late January. His family, however, have escaped from China and his wife and two children are now in New York. Gao’s committed involvement in the cases he deals with has a strong emphasis on morality and compassion, particularly regarding the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. Falun Gong is China’s most popular form of Qi Gong, a spiritually-based exercise. Practitioners, once 70 million strong, have been persecuted, arrested and in many cases tortured by the Communist Party of China.
