The Donation App on Press

The Donation App has appeared on the press today. We get a front page in the Culture and Society section of DiarioInformacion.

Yesterday, we were interviewed by a reporter. We talk about Imagine Cup, Windows Phone 7 competition and our proposal of The Donation App.

We detailed the features of our App, the innovative aspects and our strengths.

Finally, the lessons of my Master’s degree have finished.

Today was the last day. All of us were impatiently expecting this day. After all the work, it’s incredibly we aren’t dead, we are alive . A lot of things have happened since last september, but the reward deserves it.

Work, work and more work. Working and studying at the same time isn’t easy, but it’s not impossible.

Now, we still have to work on our final projects, so more work is coming.

Nevertheless, today is a day to celebrate .

Today has been announced which teams was selected to advance to Round 2 of the Windows Phone 7 competition, and… do you know?

We, the Hall4 team, are very lucky because WE HAVE BEEN SELECTED .

So we’ll advance to Round 2!!.

Zotac ZBox AD02

I’m waiting that Zotac ZBox AD02 arrives to Spain to acquire this mini PC for a home theater PC (htpc).

Since Zotac’s announcement at march 1st, prices are still veiled. However, I believe (and expect) that the retail version, which doesn’t contain neither RAM nor HD, doesn’t overcome 250€. This mini PC will be used as a media center (as I said) and will replace my old 2.8Ghz PIV too (current server hosting this blog ).

What I like about ZBox AD02 is its AMD Fusion E-350 APU and its very low energy consumption, below 30w. I would like to prove this when I get it.

Ubuntu 10.10, GNOME 2.32, Compiz, Cairo Dock

After many years using KDE 3.5 and 4.x series, I’m testing GNOME again.

Why? Despite of me feeling very comfortable with KDE I needed a change. When I entered in the world of Linux and the Open Source Software more than 10 years ago, I began with Debian and GNOME. I stayed there up to 2006, when KDE 3.5.1 was released. At that time I switched to KDE because it offered more to me. In addition, at the sametime I discovered Qt, its potential and people was already talking about KDE4. All this attracted me. However, today I’m testing GNOME.

After some time I have learnt to separate my preferences as a developer of my user preferences. So, as platform I prefer Qt and KDE but for my daily uses I prefer Ubuntu with GNOME. Certainly, Canonical has done a good job with Ubuntu 10.10. Equally, GNOME’s work in usability is enviable.

People behind KDE’s scene has done a good job too with KDE 4.5 and 4.6, but usability and stability are both aspects that need more polishing. I love KWin, Plasma and Dolphin. In my opinion these should be an example to all others. Maybe, a better integration of KDE into Kubuntu would solve all this problems.

By the time, I will give a try to GNOME

Really it was founded at 2007 but today, motivated by Imagine Cup WP7 Competition, Hall4 comes to light.

Con ésto, España se convierte en la 8ª selección en ganar un mundial y en la tercera en encadenar Eurocopa (2009) y Mundial (2010). Sólo Alemania y, luego, Francía habían conseguido esta hazaña con anterioridad. Con lo que el triunfo ¡es mucho más triunfo!.

Nunca pensé que España fuera a llegar tan lejos, ni se me pasó por la cabeza que podríamos ganar el mundial, con potencias como Brasil  o Francia, pero ¡aquí estamos!. Merecido triunfo al juego limpio de España, y no sólo lo digo yo, pues nuestra selección ha ganado el premio Fair Play de la FIFA.

Otros logros importantes:

• Guante de oro para Iker Casillas
• Balón de Bronce para David Villa
• Bota de Plata para David Villa
• Jugador más eficiente para Sergio Ramos

Y es qué, por algo hemos ganado nunca olvidaré como viví esta final ni donde estaba

Este mundial 2010 ya se quedará grabado en la memoria y, si además lo ganamos, lo podremos recordar sabiendo que somos los mejores!!

No hay palabras!!

No es gran cosa, un viejo PIV downclockeado a 1.4 Ghz, 512 MB de RAM y 200 GB aprox. con Ubuntu Server 10.04. Aún estoy probando cosas  pero de momento ya sirve este blog.

Ahora falta ver que más puede hacer.

Como de costumbre… eso es todo!
