Dawg http://www.franksdawghouse.com/?p=411 As I’m sure you’ve all guessed, shooting a commercial takes a lot of time and work.  Its never done in just one take, which means we have to do the same thing over and over again.  After about the 20th take, I needed a break.  Now I have some “stand ins” that help me out from time to time (being a full time mascot can be pretty exhausting, you know).  Well, one of the stand ins weaseled his way into one of the takes.  The results were pretty disastrous.

It all goes really well until the end of the shot.  That’s when “the other” Frank gets all nervous and ends up piddling on the cards.  Seriously not cool.  Naturally I kept a copy of it just as a reminder to that marketing guy that you can’t replace old Frank T. Dawg.

Dawg http://www.franksdawghouse.com/?p=408 Well, we’re done shooting the commercial and its looking pretty good if I do say so myself.  Team PoolDawg bowed to my will and made me the star of the commercial so I must say I’m pretty pleased with how it all turned out.  We shot the entire thing at The Foundry over in Boulder.

It was a bit nerve wracking having to stand there and look pretty for so long, but in the end it was totally worth it.  Our director Ben Eslinger from Backline Productions was really cool and came up with a bunch of ideas for different endings to the commercial (some of which are going to have to be web only).

All in all, it was a blast shooting the new spot which we’re hoping to have to ESPN in time for the airing of the Pacific Coast Classic (November 15th).  Once Ben’s finished doing his magic, we’ll post some of the commercials up on the blog.

Dawg http://www.franksdawghouse.com/?p=405 Of all the WPBA tour stops, the Pacific Coast Classic in Lincoln City, Oregon has to be my favorite. First off, its right by the ocean, which is pretty cool. If I was a real dog, I’d make Sarah throw a frisbee into the ocean so I could go out to retrieve it, but it my current condition I unfortunately don’t do very well in the water. Even so, it is nice to be able to look out my hotel window and see the water.

The other reason why I love this place so much?  Every year there’s an awesome APA regional event that takes place in the hotel at the same time as the WPBA event.  There’s always tons of people there having a good time, playing in the mini events and just getting excited about pool.

Sarah had a good tournament here last year finishing 9th when she got knocked out of the tournament by Allison Fisher.  ESPN’s going to air the quarterfinal matches this year (along with the semis and finals), so maybe if Sarah gets on TV she’ll let me hang out in her corner.

Dawg http://www.franksdawghouse.com/?p=399 Most of you know by now, that over the course of the past couple years I’ve made a few friends here and there traveling around the states.  While I was in Ignacio for the Colorado Classic, I found out that my buddy Liz Ford is not only a good pool player, but she’s also pretty talented with the pen and paper (or keyboard actually, since no one seems to write on paper anymore).

Needless to say, I put her to work.  Since I have no thumbs, writing is pretty tough for me, so Liz said she would help me write some product descriptions.  As you’ll see from her descriptions of our new Boy Beater Tee and this rubber key chain, Liz has a sense of humor that’s a wee bit off center (just the way we like it).
