It’s been a totally internet-less week for the Qualler-Brigitte family, and the internet-less streak continued through this weekend, meaning they had lost their chance to catch up on and finish The Vampire Diaries season three, which came to a (reportedly stirring) conclusion last Thursday. Meaning, our planned episode doing our postmortem (GETITTHEYAREVAMPIRES) on season three with Carrie Raisler from The AV Club and Chris Castro from The Blogulator is put on hold for the next few weeks while we catch up. BUT! Qualler and Brigitte DID complete their journey through Kevin Williamson’s OTHER very popular long-running teen-centered drama series Dawson’s Creek and, for the first time, gather all of their thoughts on the entire series into one compact 72 minute netcast. We laugh at the good times, have some tears over the hard ones (literally, if you were ever interested in hearing what Brigitte’s crying triggers are, this episode is your chance to do that, you horrible sadist, you), and celebrate all that was and will ever be with The Beek from The Creek And His Friends.

Chris and Jerksica are back to netcasting about television after taking a brief leave due to Jerksica giving birth to a beautiful baby boy that never lets them sleep. So what have they been watching while home with a newborn? Well, something that doesn’t require a lot (read: none) brain cells, such as NBC’s The Voice. The second season finale is happening this week and Chris and Jerksica would like to give you a rundown of all the chaos and inanity that has been happening with Cee-Lo Green, Blake Shelton, Adam Levine, Christina Aguilera, and Carson Daly (plus all the, you know, singing contestants) on this year’s competition. They share their predictions for America’s final vote as well as their critique on how they’ve improved and/or devolved since last year’s surprising hit inaugural season, but the real highlights include discussion of The Muppets (specifically Electric Mayhem), mild death threats, and drunk Cyndi Lauper. All this while they hope their baby doesn’t wake up from the delirious cackling in the next room!

It’s a week of zeitgeist television, what with the premiere of HBO’s highly anticipated and highly acclaimed new comedy Girls, along with the sure-to-be-zeitgeist-television announcement by the Disney Channel of the premiere of Dog with a Blog. Qualler and Brigitte ruminate on the premiere of Girls, which, in its premiere episode, definitely lives up to the hype. They also discuss Game of Thrones season to date, in which Qualler, the reader of books, asks Brigitte what she thinks will happen and then acts a lot like the Kristin Wiig SNL character who “loves surprises.” Beckett and Nico, Qualler and Brigitte’s dogs, also discuss the many possibilities of Dog with a Blog. #sixseasonsandamovie

It’s the big 5-0 episode and while it would make more sense for your hosts Chris and Jerksica to do a theme episode about cop shows, they instead want to talk at you about depictions of parenting on television. The reason for this is, well, because Jerksica’s about to burst and they’re about to have a son. It’s kind of on their minds a lot. So join them for a fun-filled yet sincere conversation about the shows they’re watching now that feature parenthood as a focal point (including NBC’s Up All Night and FOX’s Raising Hope) as well as some old favorites like Veronica Mars and The Wonder Years. Then they top it off with the mother of all shows that feature parents in prominent roles (for us kids that grew up in the 90s): The Simpsons, in which Chris reads off and comments on the Top 10 list entitled “The Top 10 Simpsons Episodes in Which Parenting Plays Into the Plot Based on a Cursory Research of Wikipedia.” Can you believe this will be the first time we’ve talked about The Simpsons on a netcast about TV? Oh, how they long for the 2nd-10th seasons of the show.

M’Lord, may I present to you Qualler and Brigitte, who discuss the start of season two of Game of Thrones, as they add their voices to the masses and masses of other TV netcasts and bloggers that have also talked about it. And while it is said that a Lannister always pays his debts, Qualler and Brigitte pay no mind to the multitudes of other things on the internet that comment on Game of Thrones. In the midst of the realm that is Westeros, or, Qualler and Brigitte’s bedroom, they also discuss everyone’s second favorite period piece about people doing stuff in the 1960s and wearin’ fancy suits and doing all kinds of 60s things, Mad Men, in which they follow up Chris and Jerksica’s fawning discussion from last week with slightly-less-than-fawning discussion. The first favorite is OBVIOUSLY Magic City on Starz, duh!

Chris and Jerksica return a full month since they last graced your computer speakers for a potpourri-style episode that ranges in discussion topics, but ultimately focuses on two ends of the TV spectrum: highbrow fare like the fifth season premiere of AMC’s smash hit drama Mad Men and lowbrow absentmindedness that they still love like NBC’s second season of the singing competition show The Voice. Also, Chris has a triumphant story about how he got Jerksica to watch the final ten minutes of the season finale of The Walking Dead, while Jerksica is not-so-happy to report that somehow they both found themselves drooling on themselves a few feet too far away from the remote and thus caught the first two episodes of the new reality show Fashion Star, in which contestants try to woo buyers from department stores with something called “bat sleeves.”

Far more importantly than any of this, however, Blogulator Radio is proud to announce an overhaul of their main site TheBlogulator.com starting April 9th, which will feature a new host of Twitterers, writers, and podcast co-hosters for a wider swath of you TV obsessives out there. Spread the word!

In this week’s episode of Blogulator Radio, Qualler and Brigitte bring back the “What’s New……..s” segment to discuss in detail the surprising and unusual announcement made last week by HBO that its new David Milch-penned horse-racing drama Luck would shut down production permanently due to the death of three horses in the production of the show. This leads Qualler and Brigitte to ponder a number of different scenarios that could have saved the show from its horse deaths, brainstorming different scenarios of other television shows that stopped production due to death. and so much borderline inappropriate discussion of the entire situation that we’re lucky that the ASPCA and PETA do not sponsor our show. (And after this week, probably never will. Sorry, Evan.)

They also preview the upcoming HBO comedy Girls, written and starring Lena Dunham, writer/director of the movie they watched this weekend, Tiny Furniture. In said discussion, Qualler makes a few statements that are just begging to be edited out and used against him when he runs for public office. Finally, the dynamic duo wrap up with a He Said She Said discussion of DVD catch-up shows that have been forced upon by each spouse: Justified, which Brigitte is catching up on, and Dawson’s Creek, which Qualler is catching up on / weeping on a nightly basis because, gosh-darn it, those kids are gonna make it in this big old world that we live in, aren’t they?

And yet somehow despite their endless complaints and suggestions, Sean and Chris are still watching the show. So they must be doing something right? Whatever. Maybe you can listen to their conversation and figure out how television can sometimes grab the viewer from week to week even while it continues to aggravate and dismantle one’s love for fiction and the visual arts.

The third season of NBC’s Parenthood came to a close last Tuesday, which means it is time for Qualler and Brigitte to devote an entire hour to all things Braverman family for a third time this season. They give their thoughts on everything that happened to the Bravermans starting with the early January episode where they took a road trip to visit Zeek’s grandma, all the way to the end of the season where (SPOILER ALERT) Jasmine and Crosby got married, Sarah (maybe?) got engaged to Mark (the nicest guy ever, even with dumb facial hair), Joel and Julia’s baby plan fizzled out, and Adam was a self-righteous dick who thinks he’s so great just because he’s the oldest sibling (okay, that last one isn’t really a spoiler, it’s just plain obvious.) You think it’s difficult to devote an entire hour to talking about what is, on paper, a pleasant family dramedy? Think again, because the Braverman clan is more than just TV family – they’re totally real (in our minds.)
