Continuing in the trend of “People You Should Know”, this week our guest’s first major voice credit comes from his starring role in a major animated show. I believe that’s called “Beginner’s Luck”, except for the fact that Mick Wingert has been in the game for over a decade. So I guess we’ll just call it, “being awesome”.

Mick talks about finding his inner Jack Black and his regular VOWOG series of classes and even gets a little musical thanks to a listener request. I guess since he isn’t related to anyone “cool”, he just decided to be the cool one.

It’s been a totally internet-less week for the Qualler-Brigitte family, and the internet-less streak continued through this weekend, meaning they had lost their chance to catch up on and finish The Vampire Diaries season three, which came to a (reportedly stirring) conclusion last Thursday. Meaning, our planned episode doing our postmortem (GETITTHEYAREVAMPIRES) on season three with Carrie Raisler from The AV Club and Chris Castro from The Blogulator is put on hold for the next few weeks while we catch up. BUT! Qualler and Brigitte DID complete their journey through Kevin Williamson’s OTHER very popular long-running teen-centered drama series Dawson’s Creek and, for the first time, gather all of their thoughts on the entire series into one compact 72 minute netcast. We laugh at the good times, have some tears over the hard ones (literally, if you were ever interested in hearing what Brigitte’s crying triggers are, this episode is your chance to do that, you horrible sadist, you), and celebrate all that was and will ever be with The Beek from The Creek And His Friends.

Or just talk E3 and Awesomenauts. That’s fine too.

Blake joins Evan and Mike to talk the Bioshock delay (and what that means for Take 2), the confirmation of last week’s $99 XBox rumors and an exclusive announcement of the next Lego game. Plus, you know, the evil.

The Voice Behind Episode 9 – Simon Green

You might not have heard of this week’s guest, but that’s likely because you aren’t Australian. It’s ok, we can still be friends.

Simon is the writer, producer and actor in Bullet: A Superhero Comedy, in which an entire 6 episode radio drama about a superhero dealing with losing his powers and his secret identity all while fighting a woman who can turn into a giant red bear is played out before a live audience. Bullet played at the Melbourne Fringe Fest and the Melbourne Comedy Festival to rave reviews, and while there isn’t a version available for worldwide consumption yet, we’ll be sure to let you know when it appears. In the mean time, Simon and Evan discuss the “history” of Australian radio theater, why there wasn’t a foley guy, why “being good” is a valid niche, and the exact types of sharks that most Australians keep for pets.

Sometimes it’s fun to just be yourself, especially if “yourself” is a dirty old man. Evan and Dave return to the University of Minnesota campus to visit one of the famously haunted storefronts, this particular one filled with Uncle Moe’s Deli and Drafts. While we didn’t see the ghosts of hot dog joints and Italian places gone by, we did partake of some Mayslacks beef (which Dave was cruelly denied back in episode 49) and sweet potato fries while trying not to obviously oggle the young women.

We were moderately successful.

Chris and Jerksica are back to netcasting about television after taking a brief leave due to Jerksica giving birth to a beautiful baby boy that never lets them sleep. So what have they been watching while home with a newborn? Well, something that doesn’t require a lot (read: none) brain cells, such as NBC’s The Voice. The second season finale is happening this week and Chris and Jerksica would like to give you a rundown of all the chaos and inanity that has been happening with Cee-Lo Green, Blake Shelton, Adam Levine, Christina Aguilera, and Carson Daly (plus all the, you know, singing contestants) on this year’s competition. They share their predictions for America’s final vote as well as their critique on how they’ve improved and/or devolved since last year’s surprising hit inaugural season, but the real highlights include discussion of The Muppets (specifically Electric Mayhem), mild death threats, and drunk Cyndi Lauper. All this while they hope their baby doesn’t wake up from the delirious cackling in the next room!
